I played this as a kid, and now, being an airborne-qualified soldier, I realized the mistakes that this game had lol. One of the mistakes is there's only one type of landing. You can never do a "flared" or "greased" landing with that canopy.
@@Commrade-DOGE "botched" is in actual fact the only way to land. You can google "Parachute Landing Fall" if you want to see what a parachute landing looks like.
@@eddiejrbation5095 Hmmm interesting question. Some people may find the first jump intimidating, but for most of us, we've been trained so much that the training takes over. There will be lots and lots of training where we do mock jumps within the safe confines of a facility before doing the real thing. So if you are unable to jump from height within the training facility, it's very unlikely you will progress to jumping from the plane. Naturally when jumping from the facility there will be some fear but it's just a matter of making up your mind and taking the step out (off the ledge). So when we were actually in the plane (C-130 for me), the training naturally takes over and it was just repeating what we had trained for. But nothing could prepare me for jumping into wind of a plane travelling at around 100 knots. The most worrying part is actually not jumping but landing. The fear of injury is strong, because if you don't land right you can get injured badly. In my course there was 2 guys who suffered severe injuries. 1 had a fractured ankle while another, if I remember correctly, fractured both his legs and his ribs.

When the engine of the plane revs up as it begins to lose control, I think about the pilots and how dedicated to their job they were to get these boys over the LZ. And then I feel like crying knowing that they died when the plane crashed. I'm horrified when the soldier is getting ready to tell his joke and the bullet pierces through the fuselage leaving a beam of light and a corpse. Then seeing the rest of the soldiers join shortly after. The music is incredible but it makes me cry knowing that some of these events could have happened in real life.
