What a treat! What a musician. Have been watching and listening to him for the past few hours: Beethoven, JS Bach, Mozart and now Haydn. Marvellous. Thank you, András Schiff, orchestras, concert halls and UA-cam!!! For me, Schiff is THE greatest - certainly since 1988. 💕💕
A lovely surprise, thank you. The right music in the right place, the Esterhazy Palace, with the right chamber orchestra and the perfect soloist. Delightful.
The reason for Schiff's quote may be the popular words associated with the tune: Papa Haydn's dead and gone but his memory lingers on. When his mood was one of bliss he wrote jolly tunes like this.

8:35 2 Un poco adagio 14:40 3 Rondo all'ungarese

I was in the concert: Andras Schiff is - at least for me - the master of nuance and fine tunes. The prime pianist of my days.
Je t'aime Andras, ton vrai nom est Joie. Continue de remplir nos cœurs de musique.
I just love Sir Andras. He is such a wonderful musician, pianist and of course person. I think he really enjoyed this performance which was sublime.

Darn it, that final cadence on the first cadenza is just brilliant. Stellar playing.
I loved the smile on 7:45 - 7:47
Simple and cheerful! Bravo!
surprising cadenza at 7:15
Quote from Surprise Symphony?
Al parecer el propio Haydn reutilizaba ese tema en otras obras:

is that Marie Luise Neunecker at the horn? lovely performance. you can tell sir Andras really enjoys chamber music
I don’t know why but sometimes when listening to Hayden’s music can recognize “Mozartian patterns “ 😊
“Classical era patterns”.
