I understand where you are coming from. Every person holds pain or other known as fear from love, somewhere in their body as a human is the pull and push between fear and love. Even if one person can stay in a state of love they have learnt how to do so by mitigating fear of the human condition between fight and flight or survival mode. Typically a smile is shown to help a person subconsciously move towards a state of love and drive away from fear if they are not already in love state it's self. When someone sees a new person it takes a very self aware person someone to be comfortable as them self in a strangers presence.
Actually accidentally when we look into someone's eyes and if you feel that stranger person is seeing through your soul and you are seeing through their soul ,it changes everything, I bet you will never forget that see-through-soul experience in lifetime

That could be to do with your own insecurities & lack of confidence. This example is different as each person knows that they are part of an experiment. Not many would do this in real life as it would be classed as socially unacceptable & rude.

I would never stare at a stranger or another dude. What's the point of that? There's a woman I like and I'm committed to trying to stare into her eyes more often. When it's someone you like or love it's a truly magical experience. She has beautiful eyes and I've resisted because I didn't want to make her nervous but I think she would be open to it. I hope we have the kind of relationship where we're always wanting to look for each other so we can look into each other's eyes.
