100% agree with your take on the extra options for Dark Avengers Ms. Marvel. If you know a customizer, you can actually create the looks easily. The Warlock wave Disco Dazzler has the feathered 70s hair, and the Molten Man Wave Spiderwoman figure has the longer hair you can use for Karla version.
I do have a few that might be able to help me out. Matching the skin tones seems like the trickiest part though. That Spiderwoman figure might actually work with her hair! Thanks!
Missing the boat is one of the things that Marvel Legends does far too often for my taste. I love Legends, but I'm not brand loyal to anyone. Being an artist and an old guard comic book collector, I have strong opinions, and I'm not one to shy from them, as you know. It wouldn't have killed Legends to have given us either a non-masked head sculpt or even a classic Moonstone with her classic helmet--the one with the fin and the oval bug eyes. Just something different. A standard repaint without anything different is a bit disappointing. I still bought it, and two of them, but I have plans to customize one. Rogue was great for me, but like you, I wanted another head with the white temples, and a younger faced version that looks like the Paul Smith version that joined the X-Men in issue #181. That two pack was extremely light on accessories, and it needed an extra head to make it really worth the $$. A missed opportunity, Legends team, and a disappointment! Siryn with a second head was 100% needed! Not having it is a HUGE blackeye with Legends collectors! It was a DUMB Legends decision not to do it. If they couldn't do it because of budget concerns, they just shouldn't have done it at all! Black Bolt and Banshee are screaming characters that came with a calm and with screaming head sculpts. The Legends team set that precedent so it's 100% on them that they upset their fanbase with this BONEHEAD decision. This gave the Legends line a lot of bad press. Stuff like this is why a lot of collectors no longer collect Legends figures. They've lost a lot of fan support because of poor decisions like this. Better to not have done a Siryn until they could have afforded to give us the extra head. Thumbs down to Legends on this one. Black Knight and Sersi pack was a disappointing set. Old bucks, and the most minimum effort from Legends. I personally think that the Marvel Legends need to stop doing GIMMICKS. They are NOT good at them! Giant Man's gimmicky fingers with individual joints that are too weak & fragile to use without fear of breaking them. Seriously? What kind of extra play value is that?? For me, the 20th Captain America's shield was a TERRIBLE decision to do. Do the gimmick shield as an extra, but give us a complete shield. Now I can't have Cap on my shelf without buying an older shield with inappropriate colors and design to work with this figure. Not happy about that one at all! Again though, Legends learned NOTHING from the blowback over the 20th Cap shield. They doubled down once again on the SECRET WARS Cap figure. They chose to give him ONLY a broken shield! This was a blown opportunity to have given collectors a nice default shield that we could use with that 20th Cap. I would have bought two figures to have gotten just the shield! But alas, it's Hasbro decision making again. Once again by giving an incomplete, gimmick shield!! AAARRRGH! We get a broken shield. lol It sometimes feels like Legends is going out of their way to not give us what we want. Other collectors may dig this new broken shield gimmick. They may in fact LOVE it. I frikkin' see it as another particularly bad decision on their part. It's a poor choice. That Cap should have been a DELUXE figure that gave us a complete shield AND the broken shield and those two heads. That would have been a $10-$15 price hike that would be justified. I just don't get Hasbro sometimes.
There is a distinct possibility that we may have been separated at birth. Your comments not only echo mine, your articulation is put in a method I could never achieve. Strong opinions? If I didn't love Marvel so much, the crimes ML perpetuates would have less effect. As a collector, I am not burdened with isolating my action figure choices to just one brand. But if I had to, despite having hundreds of ML's in the collection, I would never choose ML as the single brand-of-choice. Too many disappointments. Thanks for your comments, I loved it.
@@JayWoods483 I just try to call things as I see it. Legends is very capable of doing great stuff, but I often think they heads are stuck only in the 1990s Jim Lee years of the X-MEN and the McFarlane years of AMAZING SPIDER-MAN. They barely seem to recognize the importance of characters like the Hulk and Thor, or care much about anything outside of the Avengers, X-Men, and Spider-Man. This attitude is getting to stink like old fish with me. I've been very, very patient, yet I'm still waiting for most of the characters I've been wanting since 2016. Where are the U-Foes, the Frightful Four, Doc Samson, Stingray, Jack Of Hearts, Rachel Summers, the original costumed X-Men, a classic Molecule Man, a classic Mr Hyde, Quasar, Living Laser, Melter, Bi-Beast, Gorgon, an updated Annhilious, Blastarr, Arkon, Mister Fear, Gladiator (from DD), the Owl, classic Chameleon, Fool Killer, Vangard, Madcap, Gargoyle (Defenders), original Son of Satan, Mephisto, a good Ice Man, a classic Aunt May, Rick Jones, General Ross--damn! I could go on and on! I'm not getting any younger and I've been waiting for years now for some of these characters! You pair that up with the frustration of gimmicks in the things they're currently giving us instead, and I'm getting rather fed up with Legends. Luckily the Sentinels, Dragon Man, and upcoming figures like Rom are keeping me buying Legends, but make no mistake about it. I'm not brand loyal to anyone. I'm looking to pair down collecting figure lines, and cutting Legends is something I'm thinking about seriously these days. They need to up their game. I'm not at all interested in things like the Ultimates. If that's all the game they got, I'll probably be dropping Legends after this coming year.
@@lostonwallace1396 Well said. I can only suppose that the ML brand manager concentrates the line's focus on the modern-age characters is to attract the younger audience into the hobby. Fact is, this methodology is flawed (if it exists at all) due to 1) most ML collectors are adults, thus have been reading comics for a very long time
@@lostonwallace1396 As usual, we are not only on the same page, but the same paragraph and sentence as well! LOL! I have less than zero interested in any of the MCU figures. I hated the drop in quality starting in the late 80s that peaked in the 90's, so I have zero interest in any of those characters. I'm a classic fan - I love all the classic characters and want figures of them. It's been my biggest gripe and more common rant, that they keep churning out variant after variant of the same few figures. By my last count, they've released no less than 22 variants of Spiderman, Iron Man, and Wolverine. There's just no justification for that in my mind. Wolverine? I can see then releasing his original costume, his classic costume, his brown costume, and maybe his cowboy style costume. So 4 figures of him. Spiderman? Original costume, classic costume, I'm ok with his 6-arm mutation, and his black costume. So 4 variants. Iron Man? Original gray, then gold, then spikey face plate, then classic costume (2 heads - one with the nose sculpt he had for a short time), his stealth armor, and a modern version. So 6 versions. A total of 14 variants of those 3 characters. No way we need 221 of them! Especially not when we're missing hundreds of vital characters and characters needed to complete teams. Let's allow them 7 variants of each character (Spiderman, Wolverine, Iron Man). That leaves 200 "slots" that they could have filled with new needed characters instead of repetitious variants... Attuma, Graviton, Wonderman (original costume), Mantis, Swordsman, Immortus, classic Executioner, the various Asgardians (Warriors Three, classic Heimdall, Sif, etc), Karnilla, Mephisto, Living Laser, Gabriel the Airwalker, Banshee, Adam Warlock (classic original costume), The Wizard, The Trapster, The Brute, Sandman (green tech looking costume), original Brother Voodoo, original Son of Satan, Collector, Namor (blue costume with yellow underarm wings), Triton , Gorgon, Maximus, Whizzer, Red Ghost, Stegron, Tana Nile, Mesmero, Living Pharaoh, Jack of Hearts, Torpedo, Starhawk, Mandarin, Gladiator, Man-Ape, Sphinx, the Zodiac (all 12), Prester John, Nebulon...I can go on and on all day! They keep releasing variants of Carol Danvers...why not start with her ORIGINAL Ms. Marvel costume? Hasbro drops the ball so badly, so often. They announce a Strange Tales wave that turns out to be fraud or at least dishonest in the extreme, since we got not one single Strange Tales character. No Adam Warlock or original Brother Voodoo or Trapster or Wizard, no Baron Mordo or Ancient One, etc. Then they announce a Secret Wars wave and we got two new figures (Titania, who is a stupid character and the Beyonder, which is perhaps the most idiotic character Marvel ever created - though it's not surprising given that Secret Wars was the stupidest story ever told at Marvel - I lost IQ points reading it and had to take brain supplements to recover!). The rest? All variants with stupid gimmicks. I also don't see the point of these random releases of certain characters. I was stoked that we got a well done Ikaris (even if I had to repaint that hideous mustard colored gold trim the proper yellow color), but what good is that if we never get any of the other classic Eternals? Why not just do an Eternals wave with Ikaris, Zuras, Thena, Makkari, Ajak, Sersi, Sprite, and a BAF of Dromedan? Then they released Crystar, who never interacted with the greater Marvel Universe. Where are the other characters from his title? Same for Rom. Rom looks cool and I'll buy him but...he doesn't fit in anywhere on the shelf with other characters. If they released other Galadorian knights and some Dire Wraiths, that would make sense. This is why, despite push back from others, I stand by my argument that Hasbro is run by stupid people - because they do stupid things.
I often wonder what the breakdown is for Marvel Legends collectors in terms of when they were actively reading comics. My time frames were 1974-1983 and 1997-2002. I quit the second time because comics were simply getting too dark for me. I suppose I could extend that first run back to the dawn of the Silver Age, because it was the 70s. Silver Age books were less than 15 years old, so I amassed a lot of them at used bookstores, garage sales, etc. plus there were a lot of reprint titles in the 70s like Marvel Tales and Marvel Triple Action.
I REALLY enjoyed that deal. The Avengers running around as fugitives. Osborn slowly losing his mind and his Dark Avengers and X-Men reflecting his spiraling vision. And the payoff in Siege with the Avengers reuniting was really well done.
My very thought ,where's Carol Danvers head.Buuuut im gonna custom Dazzler head. The reason i think we'll get a retro card with a Dazzler head, its perfect
That new Dark Ms Marvel looks really good. Not much excites me anymore about ML figs. But that suit is one of my favs of the Marvel Universe. I can see Hasbro doing some kind of Dark Avengers boxset with all the alt heads slight costume difference. Similar to how they did the West Coast Avengers slot set
I've mentioned before how annoyed I am that they didn't give the Excalibur Shadowcat curly hair, and how they went with the Ed McGuinness modern Nightcrawler spiky hair instead of his traditional wavy hair (and they didn't even correct it for the '97 figure!) But of all the Marvel Legends head sculpts that make me shake my head, I think the top is the Serpent Society member Copperhead. His schtick is unhinging his jaw and opening his mouth to an absurdly large maw to eat people. Not only did the Hasbro Marvel Legends not attempt that power, they made him with his mouth closed. It felt like the design team's attitude was nobody's gonna care about this guy, they'll be happy just to get a Copperhead at all.
It would have been nice to have Carol with her short hair look to have two different characters like how they did with Quake and Maria Hill. Honestly it doesn't bother me that much, I plan on turning her into classic Ms. Marvel with a hair swap, some flesh paint on the mid section and a soft goods scarf. Super easy custom.
Definitely a missed opportunity with the Ms. Marvel figure. I thought that was a no brainer for them. I would've definitely purchased two. Oh well, I'm guessing there will be the inevitable re-release with the classic head; maybe in a 2-pack with a new classic Kree Sentry or Captain Marvel figure.
They did give us a Noh Varr too. I did order 2. One to use as Moonstone the other to complete my Carol Danvers 4 some of Ms Marvel, Warbird, Binary, and Captain Marvel.
I just got Beyonder and Titania in the mail today, The Titania figure is cool, but her arms are a little skinny, I was surprised they didn’t use the same arms as She-Hulk for Titania
I was genuinely surprised when I saw the promo pics for the Dark Avengers Warbird. That seemed like a layup, but I guess you can’t sell a fan channel exclusive, retro-carded 70s Ms. Marvel with the shorter hair if you pack-in a 70s Ms. Marvel head with the shorter hair with the Dark Avengers release. I completely agree on your other choices, especially AoA Iceman, Siryn, and Black Night. The Avengers 60th version of Black Knight should have come with an unmasked head. The biggest one for me is Beast not coming with a Perez/Byrne head. Yes, the Jim Lee Beast is too big, but it would have been an acceptable placeholder.
Loved the al snow on the thumbnail. Even though it gets me upset with some of the choices they chose for heads and none of them make sense. I feel like mattel with their ultimates is as bad for doing that. But that might be a topic for another video
Absolutely correct, Jeffrey! I absolutely would have pre-rdered TWO of these IF they included a classic head from the 1970s. Swing and a miss, Hasbro. Fumble at the goal line, Dwight.
I would have loved to see more vintage head sculpt of Carol Danvers as Ms Marvel with the hair sculpt similar to the classic Dazzler figure. Hasbro: we need a Carol Danvers Classic look please 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I'm so confused as I don't know too much history with Warbird and moonstone. So is this NOT Karla? Everywhere I see says it's not Carol so I'm lost haha. Also, if I have the new Warbird, is this Moonstone not worth getting you think?
It's Karla, but they could have included the shorter hair sculpt that would make her Carol too. They're two different characters. This base figure is Moonstone as part of the Dark Avengers.
I love Teams. I love the Heroes and Villains. For my action figures, style matters and comics are my side of Marvel Legends. For example, I would love to see Hasbro give us Jack Kirby style Marvel Legends Fantastic Four, Dr. Doom, Sub-Mariner, Hulk and Silver Surfer. I could rant on and on with my character list, later perhaps, but for now, just this; the Silver Age Masters Of Evil original line up needs Skurg The Executioner AND The Melter to be complete. Lastly, Black Knight's pegasus is a pipe-dream. People say I'm a Dreamer, but I'm not the only one!
One of the more annoying Hasbro choices in recent memory was having the Secret Wars Iron Man NOT include a Rhodey civilian head, who was wearing the Armor at the time. Insult to injury by having Stark's face on the shield.
Amen! Hundreds of cool characters being ignored so that they can make a 53rd variant of Iron Man, or a 47th version of Wolverine. It's my single biggest gripe. Fans of those characters have far more than enough and have nothing to complain about if Hasbro takes a few years off the variants and catches up with much needed characters.
@LylesFigureFiles more accurate armor colors and better articulation. The one in the Amazon exclusive 3 pack a little lacking, but Hasbro have been known for their money grab upgrades
Thank you for saying Moonstone SHOULD NOT have the same head as Ms Marvel. I'm a fan of both characters and if I manage to get the new figure they will look like clones in my collection. They should at least use the hair from the Moonstone figure they released a few years ago
Yeah, I really want new head sculpts for figures especially when they're doing so much other reuse on the figures -- which is fine just not for head sculpts for different characters.
Thanks a lot for the video Jeffrey. Your topic was poignant and very significant to the collectors of Marvel action figures. Simply, #lostonwallace1396 summed up everything in his comments below. The indiscretions ML suffers from regarding the head sculpts is perplexing at best. Much like their character selection process, their choices for head sculpts scratches more heads than not. From indications received through other channel's conversations there is a distinct possibility Hasbro may lose the Disney license in 2025 when the license expires. My point being, this indiscretion may not have to be endured much longer.
I have a few that are close enough for me that it would take something really outstanding for me to buy another upgrade. Baron Zemo, Dr. Doom, Kang, Ultron, Ant-Man, Astonishing Wolverine. Luke Cage are just a few recent ones.
What is meant when people are saying the female bodies are too small..? Is that referring to the musculature or what? See here's the thing - the average woman is about 5 ft 4 to 5 ft 6. The average man is between 5'7 and 6 ft 2. That means on average most men are taller than most women. But if you stand any female figure such as Mystique or Susan storm or any of these people next to somebody like Captain America who should be 6'2 they're looking almost eye to eye. That means the woman is too big. So am I the only one seeing this or am I crazy?

I REALLY hope we get a smaller Beast figure that fits in better with the Avengers and Uncanny X-Men.
Loved the al snow on the thumbnail. Even though it gets me upset with some of the choices they chose for heads and none of them make sense. I feel like mattel with their ultimates is as bad for doing that. But that might be a topic for another video
I also loved the Al Snow reference! lol
Mattel QC has had some interesting losses with the WWE figures. Wonder how long before they can get this new production factory up to speed.
Absolutely correct, Jeffrey! I absolutely would have pre-rdered TWO of these IF they included a classic head from the 1970s. Swing and a miss, Hasbro. Fumble at the goal line, Dwight.
They did give us the Dark Avengers Moonstone. It's just they botched the two-point conversion ;-)
@@LylesFigureFiles LOL!
I regard this as Carol Danvers ☺︎
Glad you pointed this out . Was thinking the same thing. I like to use all 1st appearance figures as Skrulls . Hasbro dropped the ball once again.
Yeah, I just wish they would think of that bonus option more often like they did with the New Mutants Moonstar figure.
I would have loved to see more vintage head sculpt of Carol Danvers as Ms Marvel with the hair sculpt similar to the classic Dazzler figure. Hasbro: we need a Carol Danvers Classic look please 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Yep, very similar to that style!
Before i picked up X Men 97 Magneto..i was planning on picking up AOA Magneto & trimming off the hair with a razor blade
@@LylesFigureFilesThey released a Moonstone figure last year, so i'm surprised that they didn't just modify that figure's head sculpt instead.🤔
Oh, I'm still hoping we get an early appearance Radioactive Man and 1st Black Knight for a truly complete Masters of Evil!
I believe that its the 6 armed SPIDER GOD in that Daken 2 Pack not Mac Gargan
One of the more annoying Hasbro choices in recent memory was having the Secret Wars Iron Man NOT include a Rhodey civilian head, who was wearing the Armor at the time. Insult to injury by having Stark's face on the shield.
They REALLY could have just added a Rhodey head sculpt from the deluxe and called it a day. Don't know why they couldn't just add two head sculpts in.
Whats disappointing is Hasbro has spiderman, Wolverine , the X men and iron man on the brain instead of fulfilling the customers needs
No mention of Thunderstrike
What's wrong with the Thunderstrike head sculpts?
That alt Sentry head is from that one page where his wife shoots him (Void) in the face with a flare gun lol
Right!
I was wondering if we get the Dark Avengers members, if Hasbro will do a more updated version of Norman Osborne's Iron Patriot
What else do they need to do to update his armor?
@LylesFigureFiles more accurate armor colors and better articulation. The one in the Amazon exclusive 3 pack a little lacking, but Hasbro have been known for their money grab upgrades
I’d rather they focus on figures never made then update figures that are less than 5 -6 years old.
STILL waiting for WRECKING CREW!
That was the biggest letdown of that Secret Wars wave to me.
@LylesFigureFiles ABSOLUTELY!
She was gone :D. I never got a chance to order her
From where? EE still has her for pre-order: ee.toys/UD7TUZ
Thanks Jay. I do wish they could focus on the hair styles and head sculpts with a bit more care and attention.
Hasbro will never give us perfect figures. They will always be slightly off just to keep us chasing for the next figure.
I have a few that are close enough for me that it would take something really outstanding for me to buy another upgrade. Baron Zemo, Dr. Doom, Kang, Ultron, Ant-Man, Astonishing Wolverine. Luke Cage are just a few recent ones.
I already got her, phoenix body, warbird head. 🤷♂️
Ok then!
Too slender and overly skinny. Not accounting for various body types at the average 5'4" to 5'6" height.
