Is your Cookbook out??? I wanted to buy one if there’s still plenty 👩🍳😋👌🏻
Louisiana here. I am bedridden and 71 years old. Addicted to your videos. Love you all. You bring me joy everyday!. God Bless!
thank you so much, it brings us joy knowing we bring you joy!
We get spoiled on those great farm products. When my girls started eating at college they realized how good farm food was. I’m retired now and high prices on everything is keeping me from doing any improvements to the farm just trying to tread water. My wife says my favorite saying is ( it’s always something)
Yes there is always somethin’ 😂
Blessings to all your viewers as well ❤🙏🛐
I love to see little Maggie helping! Learning skills young to last a lifetime !!! B e proud mom and dad raising those kids right.
Is is me or does Maggie's vocabulary and choice of words seem to be advanced for her age?
My Grandfather used to strain the milk through cheese cloth. These clothes would get boiled when washing them so that they were always spotless. The shop bought glass of Milk is like water in comparison to a glass of freshly milk from a cow. That bring back lovely memories of my Grandparents. Thank you for making the butter and milking your lovely cow. 🙏🕊️💚☘️🇮🇪
Thank you for sharing your life with your subscribers! Maggie is the best and cutiest little helper ❤️
Y’all are the hardest workers I have ever seen. Love your channel. You are wonderful teachers!
Thanks so much 😊
I used to live like you do,but I'm 80 yrs. My husband passed on.All i got a cat .I live though you all. God bless❤❤❤🎉🎉
Love how you guys are teaching your littles the homestead ways. God bless!
Maggie follows instructions well. Cute when Maggie said “that’s perfect”‼️
Andy, you are spot on about inflation. It goes up quickly, but takes years to recover.
I love watching your content and have learned at lot from you all. It’s so nice watching wholesome programming. Many thumbs up🫶
I sure enjoy the videos you folks share. You taught this old lady something new today.... making butter by your machine!!! It sure was a time saver😉
"Thats the way its supposed to be." Quote from Andy.amen
Great video everyone, sure enjoyed the road work Andy and your helpers did a great job anchoring the ditch cloths. Sure hope it all holds for you. Great combination of tractors you have and they both serve their purpose well. Breaking in a new cow to the milk set up and handling is quite a chore that takes lot of patience and you two are doing a great job and really glad for the butter and milk and all you get from the milk. As a kid I remember we would strain the milk 3 times through cloth and set it on the table for breakfast and it was so good , seemed to help our systems work too. Stay safe around there any your helpers are really doing a great job around there. Fred.
Thank you
Love watching you all. Good country people, best kind. Feel after watching you, just like family. That little Miss Maggie is the cutest, teaching her good learning life skills.
I love the fact that this way of life is being taught to your kids. I pray that others are also. Maggie is a sweetheart. She really loves to help her Momma. I was just floored when she jumped up there and knew already how ya make butter. The dream will go on in this family. Makes my heart happy. God Bless. HUgs, Rebekah
My wife and I bought her grandparents 30 acre farm and farmhouse. She has the green thumb on gardening. We had good gardens when we lived in Dothan. Her granddaddy farmed the land and raised hogs. We have horses and chickens and cats lol . We enjoy watching your videos and thanks for letting us tag along. We are both retired and are enjoying it. I worked as a firefighter for 36 years.
Awesome thank you so much
Y’all are my new favorite channel. Right along with what I’m doing, except my homestead is being built out of timberland with no infrastructure. Lots to do! And I’m a lot older too. BTW, I subscribed 3 days ago, and this morning I was unsubscribed. Might remind everyone to check that. Has happened on 3 or 4 channels I subscribe to.
thank you, you're not the first to tell us they had been un subscribed, I've heard other channels mention it too
He’s got his PhD in Box blading. Great job
When I was two years old I went to live with my nanie and papa.
I might've been scrawny and half starved, but I was always wanting something to do.
Worried nanie to death until she finally give in and set me up to churn buttermilk, and she said when it starts getting hard to churn would be enough, she actually thought I'd give it up before too long because I was so scrawny.
Well I tore into it, after days of trying to do something productive, I wanted to show I could do all kinds of things, though that was my first time churning, because my other grandmother filled a gallon jar with milk and shook it by rocking back and forth in the rocking chair.
She kept asking if it was getting hard to churn, and I kept saying not yet.
That last time she asked, I said it was getting kinda harder to churn, so she opened up the lid and looked at papa and said, she's done made butter!!
Papa didn't get no buttermilk to go with his cornbread that night for supper, and nanie took more care in giving me proper instructions on any farm chore after that, and I got to milk the cow a few days later.
We had a boatload of butter neither one of them knowed what to do with, it was a big floor churn and in that house buttermilk didn't last long at all, so after talking it over, we washed the butter, salted some of it, formed it, wrapped it up in wax paper and gifted to folks on nearby farms.
Good bless y’all, and thank you for your videos. They do my heart good, giving me hope there’s still a fraction of normalcy in our country and that gives me such hope❤
Just found you guys. What a blessing! Hello from Texas, you know how blessed you are. Keep up the good work and I'll keep watching
Already got your cookbook. Looks nice
Watching the gravel pile get smoothed out was very gratifying lol.
Another Fantastic Video !
Thanks !
😊
I got tickled watching Maegan turn into a milk ninja grabbing her bucket of milk and BOLT out of Candy’s way 😂😂😂 LOVE the channel and the homesteading way. Great job folks, we are blessed because you choose to share. Thank you 🙂
Milk Ninja, haha!! I love it!
Thank y'all for letting me come along.
You two are doing a great job with these videos!
Thanks so much!
YOUR KIDS are doing a great job guys!😇!😇!😇!😇!
I agree about the butter when I was a kid, I am 71 now we had fresh milk, butter etc. delivered right to our front door. That stopped when they had to start pasturizing the milk. Put the small daries out of business. The butter is the thing that I missed the most.
WOW!!! Im SO IMPRESSED I Love how you work as a family,,, how the kids help make butter and work with dad outside.
Good Job Kids!!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Mom n Dad, I’m SO IMPRESSED ❤
GOD BLESS YA’LL🙏♥️🛐
I love you guys!! Thank you for teaching us how to live off the land ❤
My grandmother use to put their milk in a churn to make butter and she would scoop out the butter and put it in her wooden molds and set it in her refrigerator and when it was cold enough to take it out and wrap it with Saran wrap and people would go to their house and buy it from her and my granddaddy would keep a bowl of butter on the table covered with a dish towel and when they sat down to eat he would spoon it out and put it on his food
LOVE YOUR CHANNEL, YOU AND YOUR HUSBAND ARE SO DOWN TO EARTH, AND TELL IT LIKE IT IS. I LOVE YOUR ACCENTS, I LIVE IN VANCOUVER CANADA, AND TEACHING EVERYONE ABOUT YOUR CULTURE AND EVERYTHING ABOUT APPALACHA IS SO INTERESTING. WOULD LIKE TO CHECK OUT YOUR NECK OF THE WOODS SOME DAY. BEEN TRYING TO CATCH UP ON ALL THE VIDEOS, ENJOYING EVERY ONE OF EM
Now that is a good meal after a long day of good honest work.
absolutely
Growing up, my mom would put cream in a quart mason jar and we’d sit and just turn it back n forth. Didn’t shake it, just turn it right to left. I guess a 180 you’d say.
It made up butter in no time. That’s good idea with food processor, we didn’t have one of those. Lol this was in 1970s. They did the farmsteading thing back when the world was going to heck and interest rates 18% or more and gas lines, Carter was president, everything high. It was worse than now, in a lot of ways, but not many talk about it.
So anyway, my dad bought a big piece of land 150 acres, had old stone foundation and hand dug well that was good. Built
Log cabin like old days, i peeled logs with flat how, he even made wood shingles. Mom n I canned 800+quarts vegetables and meat that summer from our garden and what we raised. Had about every animal you can imagine, cut our hay, cut our firewood and cooked on woodstove only except summer. I mean, looking back, it was hard! So glad I know how to survive. Only problem
Is I been a widow 11 years and no hope in sight and I sure miss doing all that. So…
I get to through y’all! Thank you for your channel.
You have such a great family, and a nice life on the farm.
Y'all's video's make my heart smile.❤ Good people, you are!!❤
Hey y’all from western Arkansas we enjoy y’all so much!! Have a great week ahead 🙏🏼🇺🇸
Productive day for you guys, I needed to see the road work especially the material.
Supper looked delicious. Enjoying your videos just came across your site. Now, I'm doing a binge watching, lol .
Thank you and welcome!
Thanks for sharing the good life with us. Best wishes, D
Hey there from NE Arkansas. You are right Andy, times are getting tough and expensive. More worries now then before. I'm 68 so I can remember further back. But, when you can sit down to such a meal, home grown food and your loved ones around you. Life is good. Please keep your videos coming. Meagan, I just ordered your cookbook.
thats exactly right! , i think God everyday for the life he allows us to live and i wouldn't have it any other way
Wow, I wish we could buy cashed concrete for 400 a load here in FL. I make a living (just barely) with a dump truck, and that mixture of concrete costs me 600 to put it on the truck. You're right. Things have sky rocketed with THIS administration. You won't have any trouble with wet when you finish THAT road. Concrete get hard and you can't give enough water. Good job.
thank you
Love your video's, reminds me a lot of when I was growing up in Cornwall, England 1950's/60's, lived on small holding, about 30 acres. Milked cows by hand, my foster mum made clotted cream, we kept pigs, chickens, ducks, geese & turkeys.
One great FAMILY!😇!!😇!😇!😇!
Thank You...I could almost smell the food cooking...reminds me of when I was MUCH younger and would visit my grandparents house with my family...we always looked forward to this kind of meal cooked in much the same way as you do it. Respectful of doing things the right, 'old school' way.
The road looks great 👏 and that supper looks absolutely delicious😋
Andy you preach it! You speak nothing but the truth. Rock same here in KY. My husband is a-retired coal
miner and I don’t know what we would do if he couldn’t do just about everything hisself including building our house and a good majority of our furniture and yes spread gravel. And praise the good Lord for showing me how to squeeze a dime from a nickle.
Butter looks good.... and that meal sure is making me hungry..
Much love and appreciation from Australia God bless you all
Boy my mouth was watering for that crispy streaky bacon!
I really like your kitchen. It's so nice. I'll bet your house smells so good. That's one thing about families that cook at home it smells so good. I miss that now that my family has left and I'm by myself. I always baked on Fridays and the kids loved it.
Love to the family thank you for sharing.
Just found your channel! Enjoy watching your family ! Blessings to y’all!❤
You sound like my husband not enough money to buy that old tractor or pick up Love it
Good morning from Apple Valley, So. California. Having my morning cup of coffee with Jesus and Ya'll.
Outstanding FAMILY!!😇!😇!😇!😇
Meagan, you can never be too careful. My great grandma many years ago was raising her family on Chimney Top Mtn not far from here in TN. She was pregnant and went to milk one day. The cow kicked her and killed the baby. She lost another baby while living on the mtn from stillbirth. Little Nellie and Polly are buried up there. Andy, your work on this video was awesome! The road will be so much better. Love watching your sweet kiddies helping you. My same ggrandma and grandpa left TN and moved to PA. they had a farm and when I visited she “let me” 😂 help her churn. I remember her straining her butter through cheese cloth. Then she made it into a ball like yours. The way you work reminds me of her. She died when I was about 12. Love your alls videos. ❤
Wow, yes I don't think some folks understand how easily a cow can hurt you if you don't take proper precautions. Thank you for sharing that story and your kind words
I just discovered your channel. Hello from Canada. You are all down to earth and I enjoy that. Cheers!
What time is supper? I’ve got a long drive LO😂😂😂😂😂. Love everything y’all do!!!!
My last gravel road material 3/4"- was $29/Ton and I got 32 ton (Two loads). The gravel at the Quary is $17.50/ ton so the most cost is trucking. My property boarders the Quary. Keep up the great videos.
I just found y'all today!. I raise dairy goats, rabbits, chickens and a few horses. I have a fair sized garden too. You folks are right in tune with the life style I'm trying to get to. Thanks for sharing your life with us
Awesome! Thank you!
Loved watching the hand milking as i haven't seen it since i was very young and your butter looked perfect. All the very best wishes to you and a big thankyou for your videos.
It is nice to watch Maggie helping with the making of butter. She is making memories. Your smile as you are pouring the milk into the strainer says you are a good guesser of the quantity of milk. Blessings to you all.
Never eat anything but real butter, worked on my mom's friend's dairy farm in my youth and he made all. Homemade ice-cream and thought it super fancy with electric butter churn .😊
Thankk you for letting us tag along in your daily life. Sure brings backa lot of memories of growing up. We raised most of our food also. When I moved away, I said I'd never have a garden again. Was sonsick of all the work. It wasnt but 3 or 4 uears and guess what I did? Yep, started a garden!!! Lol. Blessings.
Awesome!
Man, your dinners sure look good. And saying hello from Brooklyn Michigan
That’ll be rock hard in no time. Looks good. And that butter looks yummy!
I love how you have Maggie help in the kitchen. I used to use paddles to work the milk out of the butter. I had a big old wooden bowl and paddles from my mother in law. Good job training the milk cow. Looks like she eats fast or you don't give her enough to keep her occupied. I never had cows I had goats. That was back in the day. I'm 73 and in bad shape so I'm living vicariously through your videos.
I am training her to milk without feed :)
Good morning. I’d like to make two comments. First of all you are precious with your children but especially how you interact with your little girl. It is precious. I did not have a mother like you. I had a mother who put me on prescription diet pills when I was four years old because I was just a chubby little baby. But I digress you are just precious and your little girl is truly blessed which I know your son is too but it is Darlene how you let her help you and it melts my heart. And second of all my husband is a Kabota man too. He just recently got an older small model kind of like when Andy was using about that size to restore.oh my gosh I don’t know why he wanted this thing because to me well, let’s just say I’m not able to see the diamond in the rough, lol. Thanks for another good video. God bless.
Thank you so much for your kind words ❤️
Your cooking looks so good .your are awesome cook.. I enjoy watching your videos. Thank you! Just love you guys!
The butter is beautiful! I love the old Ford tractor. It may be old, but it doesn’t smoke, and it purrs like a kitten! Blessings to you all!
Your lil’un is adorable! Just found your channel. So far I like what you guys are doing! Something I eventually want to do as soon as I can leave California. Blessings to you!
Having a farm and ability to produce for yourself is a great blessing and pride. World suffering from inflation unfortunately will not do for themselves sadly.
It won't be long, and your sweet daughter will have her own channel. Beautiful children, wonderful, wholesome channel. Thank you. ❤😊
Home grown at it's best. That butter reminds me of tomatoes. When they give out in the garden, I'm done until next year's crop. Great job Maggie! That's a good looking road that will stay with you Andy. Y'all have a great evening!
Hello, I really appreciate your videos.
We are having chicken soup from the chicken dinner last night and biscuit bread. I would love fresh home-made butter to go on it. ❤😊
Y'all are amazing!
My mom used cheesecloth to strain the milk. Wish we had had that blender instead of a churn!
My Grandma used to strain her milk through a old flour sack. I was about as old as your daughter when I first remember trying to help her.❤️
Enjoyed watching!
Enjoyed the video and the food looked Delicious. 😊❤🙏
Ms. Ruby
GOD BLESS YOU AND YOURS! :)
Love your channel, back to basics
Love the hog jaw
Ya'll are raising your kids right, teaching them important life skills, that is so encouraging. Watching this I just learned how to make butter from you Meagan...i LOVE butter. More butter, more better!!! 😉 Andy you are so right, its crazy what everything costs these days.
I am 70 and back in the day, we had special disg cloths just to strain the milk. Then wash everything and get ready for the next day. Personally, i hated the raw milk.
Hey Megan and Andy, thanks for another fun video!,great work on the road Andy, yea prices are crazy for gravel here too!, along with too many other things! My husband just spread some himself also. Megan, love to see that fresh butter, the best! Good work with Bell, she’ll come along with your patience.love your channel, thanks for sharing.
Butter looks delicious!😋
I'm a new subscriber and I'm enjoying your channel. 😊
Welcome!
Love the 4000 ford have always had one.
I used to make my butter in a blender years ago .
Use a pan or other flat weight to flatten your bacon in the cast iron skillet. You'll get more fat rendered that way, and it cooks more evenly. I cook my bacon on the lowest possible heat in order to be able to get as much fat from it whilst not burning the meat. A full pan of bacon takes an hour or more, but you get a good yield
Yaw have a Blessed day
I just found your channel a couple days ago and i just love you guys! ❤
Hi lovely family xx❤❤❤ 😊
Another great video! Love watching Maggie in the kitchen. It sure is nice to see traditions and recipes, etc taught and handed down. You have a beautiful family - God bless!
Awesome job! I have the same exact counter weight, love the ammo cans mounted on it. I filled mine with quickrete. I was under the impression that Jerseys gave 5-7 gallons a day. Thanks for sharing. Stay safe, and God bless
It all depends on the cow honestly, some are very high producers and some lower. Candy currently has her calf 24/7 so I’m getting around a gallon a day plus whatever the calf may be drinking. I’m guessing I’ll get around 2-3 gallons once the calf is weaned ☺️
@TrueGritAppalachianWays thanks, this changes my mind, possibly because we were thinking Dexter so as not to be "overwhelmed" with too much milk
Andy God will provide the money for that gravel. When it happens you may want to consider letting the dump truck spread it for you. I've seen videos where it works well like that.
Little Maggie and her chin dimple. She looks so much like her daddy. She's going to take over kitchen chores.
