Another idea is to get a spot of beach,
Organise exclusivity with the land owner
claim the sea also belongs to you
charge a membership to access the sea...
the sea doesn’t belong to to the club but hey, claim it, why not
    ....West Wittering....Hayling Island....

Yes that's a great idea too! Know that this is the case in a lot of countries. Maybe not the most liked way to go though ;)

A couple observations. I don’t think you mention figures so there’s no quantitative data to evaluate your comments on.
How much is ‘a living’ and how much do the top 5 kite surfers make relative to ‘a living’. 25k, 50k, 75k, 100k?
Or maybe, do it while young and be poor then use that architecture degree to make a living once the knees give out.
I.e. stay at school get qualifications
Another observations. You mentioned tennis. Great example. Tennis has low barriers to entry. Millions of easy access courts and players. Therefore huge market opportunity, rackets, clothes, shoes etc. Skateboarding. Easy, millions of kids, lots of clothes brands tapping into teen market. Buckets of cash.
The kite market is too small to support more than a few riders. Kite gear is so expensive it sets a barrier to entry to the sport too high for most people. Why would the sponsorship money men blow their cash on a tiny market and poor returns. Red Bull is a charity for KOTA as they have an ethos for grass route as they make so much cash elsewhere. Addi, Nike, Vans, couldn’t give a monkeys about kitesurfing.
But then it’s not in the interests some of the big brands to change this with cheaper gear as they’re doing alright. So in the end, you have a supply chain of brands selling to wealthy people. Pros need more competitions as they need to generate their own market

Great observations, thanks! Yes we totally agree that we have to grow the sport to make it more interesting for companies to put money into. Hopefully we will get there. Thanks for your comments.

Interesting question. Well, there will be other money in it for sure. Pricemoney I don't know how that works to be honest.
