Yeh, i had a lot of fun playing this on my snes. Anyone who went from PC to this wouldn't be a fan, but as an 11 year old console gamer it was awesome at the time.
K Diz Video Gaming I played Doom first on the SNES that's all I had when I was 14. Most memorable experience on the system as far as freaking the shit out of me. After playing it on the PC much later, there wasn't anywhere near the creepy environment or sound as on the SNES. Chalk it up to me being more mature or jaded to Doom or whatever. There is a legitimate difference in the two platforms' audio and gameplay; the SNES's have a raw and unrefined quality, they make one perhaps feels like one does not have full control over their faculties as well as seeing and hearing mere pieces of a greater whole, which are naturally terrifying prospects within a dark corridor shooter with infernal overtones.
When i was on the "Kitchen ace" level,The music was so kickass that i didn't want to leave the level. And even the "Hiding the secrets'' level music is my favorite too.
Just goes to show how games consoles and pcs have changed the snes was released 1990 and this game was released in 1993 yet a stock Snes isn't powerful enough to run it after only a 3 year gap. That would be the equivalent of a game coming out for PC today and the PS4 not being able to run it. Just goes to show how fast pc technology was moving back then.
You actually needed a very OP computer to run Doom in high settings back then. Also, SNES wasn't the most powerful console in 1993, that would be the NeoGeo.
Well but still. PS4 also struggles to keep up with modern PC gaming. The original PS4 is already obsolete in terms of what it's hardware can do, and even the PS4 pro can't keep up with a top end PC. The games are always tuned down on the console version. It's not as different of a gap as you think it is.
the reason why they barely accomplished to port doom on snes is, because they used the sfx2 chip, this way the snes can barely funktion like a 32bit system, however since the snes runs at 3,5 mhz,the sf2 has to run 7 times faster,at 21mhz to render these 3d worlds in synch with the snes wich renders the sprites backgrounds etc, but still caused slow down at times, cuzz the sf2 chip has to stay in synch with the snes,if the snes had just an faster proccesor, the game would,ve run much smoother.
@Helpy Gamer 201YT kind off, while the super fx2 chip is still a 16bit chip, but like the 32X it can do polygons, sprite scaling etc,,, The snes couldn’t rundoom wothout a super fx2 chip, But the super fx2 chip couldn’t run doom on it’s own either, they bith need eachother, Sadly they cannot function like a 32bit system no but they can fake it, snes doom is a great example how 32bit can be faked on snes, it’s like pc doom running in the lowest settings, wow.
I did this game play in snes 9x. I forgot what resolution I set it in the emulator. I didn't do any changes, I just loaded the game. I recorded the game play in 720p since I didn't think recording it at 1080p would of made a big difference in quality anyway.
Notice how slow it is to turn 180, how awkward it is to pick up armor and health points, holding down run all the time helps. And the enemies always face you.
I guess if this is all you had it's ok. Nothing beats the original PC version. I never played the SNES port back in the day myself. Looks like it ran pretty smooth FPS-wise. The graphical clarity is really rough though. I can see taking a lot of needless damage from enemies you can't make out in the distance. The music seems pretty good though overall. DOOM will always be a classic.
It was an incredible feat for the SNES hardware. At launch in 1990, the snes wasn't that powerful, yet they ported a game that had trouble running on alot of PCs--3 years later.
Nah on an actual snes console doom is chuggy it dont run smooth or quick, if memory serves. Thank god you can get the original doom and doom II and doom 64 and doom 3 on xbox one now!
I enjoyed the game level: Episode 2 Mission 1,and it's soundtrack. "I sawed the Demons!" It's like the hero of the game is learning how the Demons fight, and he begins to avoid their attacks, while "Bagging his Limit for Demons!" In other words he goes on the Attack to Hunt Down the Demons that came through the UAC Scientists' Artificial Portals. I believe the UAC Corp. Scientists were too Irresponsible, and couldn't control the Gateways when they became so unstable! The Portals shouldn't have been invented!
I wish the storyline would have been written so that the hero of the game goes as far as Deimos' Moon Base, and fights his way to the UAC Corp. Laboratories, blowing the heads off every Demon that charges him,and sets explosives to destroy all the Computers in the Lab that kept the Portals open. That would at least stop the Demons from Invading our Dimension again, for a while!
+Link the hyrule warrior Even if this is snesx9 emulating doom port for SNES, it's still basically the most horrible port performance-wise of all Doom ports, slowest frame-rate, least colors on pallet, worst resolution, had better sound than 32x IMO and it had all stages, 32x and CDROM was better in every other aspect. Technically and visually.
I couldn't even tolerate 5:00 of it. Why all the tiptoeing around the health and armor bonuses, and lol at missing the blue vest. That's where I tuned out.
In the DOS Version for Ultimate Doom, the intro used to startle the He** outta me! Creepiest game I've ever played. Doom 64 had worse than that! I wouldn't have been able to take the Horror scenario if I played Doom 64 as a kid! I'd have been a Mindless Killer, shooting up Schools, ended up dead by the Police Returning Fire...and then, In Hell Itself undergoing Eternal Torture. That's why I became Baptized in Christianity. Now,I can avoid losing my mind and putting myself through all that madness. Everyone should know when this kind of fighting, and warfare is called for! Not going on shooting rampages at civilian lives! Anyone who becomes that Evil will soon meet that kind of end!
THIS IS A WARNING...PLEASE HEED WHAT I POST HERE... God created the whole world, and he judges the Heart. Therefore he will see the evil in those who go on Shooting Rampages, and die doing it,and has the power and authority to send those with evil hearts, into the Lake of Fire! THINK, BEFORE YOU KILL RUTHLESSLY!!!
I don't think Doom64 would've made you into a rampage killer because I don't believe games cause any of that.....it's the individual themselves that are to blame. They were nut jobs to begin with lol. They would've killed anyways whether if they played a shooter or not. I do agree with your Christian views since I'm Christian myself, I'm glad you found Jesus/Christianity and got saved from Hellfire.

+Eden tification The perspective is basically 3D, as it is in quite a few other games as well including F-Zero. Doom is fundamentally no different, technically a simulated 3D, because your brain sees it as 3D but the computer does not. Though Doom can do walls and such, whereas in Mario Kart, many objects were basically flat.
Just gotta change how the menu works a bit and the soundfont to make it look/feel/sound/act like the real game, and BOOM!* Now I just gotta make a keyboard and mouse. *end my suffering now
At the Computer Station the ost is called "They're gonna get you!" Yikes! The one at Phobos Anomaly is called "Sign of Evil".I know that's the " Mark of the Beast" . I hope there will be more than the Christians in the city I live in who will be Raptured up with me, and my family. I'd rather be Raptured to hide in Heaven. But if God chooses for me to stay here and fight, I'll do it.
If you're saved you're not staying no matter what. Christians aren't appointed to God's Wrath, the Bible is very clear about that when talking about the end times. I wouldn't worry about it, just worry about the one's who aren't saved yet and try to get as many people to Christ as you can before you leave. That's what Jesus commanded to His disciples before He ascended.

@@jasoncookman3158 I agree, my brother and I were completely freaked out. I had just turned 15 and he was 11. He could barely play it alone.
37:31 for Kitchen Ace.

Haha!
Awesome game even on snes
this game used to scare the shit outta me when i was a kid and you look like you know your way around it pretty well. good job bro!
MasterLCPL same
My shit stains are still back at my old house
Same... never got very far playing this in the SNES days since it scared me too much to play it alone.
That poor soldier dead on the blue carpet at the start.....he must have sucked at his job to have died there.
Like he died of a heart attack since there's no demons in the room
I almost bought this today just for the heck of it. If I see it for cheap, I am adding it to my collection.
Just assume Doomguy needs glasses in this version.
whole new meaning to blind speedruns
I don't remember the game running this smoothly on my snes
I wish. I wouldn't have wanted to shoot my controller back in '95.
I guess he overclocked the emu. There is an option for this port and the 3DO

neither most 1993 computers could play doom just fine
You actually needed a very OP computer to run Doom in high settings back then. Also, SNES wasn't the most powerful console in 1993, that would be the NeoGeo.
Wrong, that port was released in 1995.
But it's trying to run a game from 1993 dumb arse.

They did it. Those sons of birches did it. Ian Malcolm, Jurassic Park
Holy TOLEDO! I've never seen the Hell Barons move so fast!
That's how Nightmare difficulty works on the SNES version. ALL enemies move faster.
Now i know why my eye sight is so shit 25 years later, i put a lot of hours into this game back then!
Love this game mate
Welcome to Unfair-Doom+: Beg For Mercy! Edition
SNES Nightmare is the only beatable Nightmare mode. Nightmare on the PC will respawn monsters infinitely.
SouthwesternEagle shit I didn't know that
Omg this graphics on SNES...
it's still impressive
Никита Захаров I know the graphics are crappy but the music Man, they put some effort for the music. Compare to the Sega 32x music
This is the correct resolution to record Doom Snes +1! Can you tell us if you overclocked the chip in the emu?

Best music imo creepiest tone by far
better than what? a potato?
he probably meant better than the sega 32x port
Wouldn't have two Cacodemons served better as bosses on this episode? Weren't they stronger than the Barons?
WTF Barons could still see you with the invisibility sphere???
All the *partial* invisibility does is mess up enemy aim badly
I can't see the enemy In the SNES version cuz its so pixelated
5:00

Are you okay?
I'm trying to beat this on nightmare and every time I kill an monster they keep appearing.
On PC, monsters respawn. Killing every monster + some respawned ones causes kill ratio to go over 100%.
is this the only "3D" game on snes ? i didint know it was possible to run 3D on snes
