Just wanted to add that the pick-up that you refer to...compared to your 360...is due to that V12 torque rather than the power available. V12s will beat atmo V8s out of corners all day long. Even a 550 will keep a 458 exiting a corner...for a while!
I have always thought the 456GT one of the best looking Ferraris, second only to the 275GTB4. This is why I could not understand the comments made by the Car Trek trio. This car featured on the 1990s Top Gear Intro.
£2k a year should run a good car. I've been running my 94 F355 for that on average the last 14 years. More on belt years, less on others. The 90's Ferrari's are my favorites.
I think we've all heard about the humongous bills a Ferrari, especially a V12 Ferrari, can throw your way. For that reason i wouldn't dare to own one. ..but Ferraris back in the day really speak to me. I'm left cold by the current Ferraris, but something like this, an elegant and sophisticated cruiser, almost shouts at me. I'm SO into the 456 and the 550..and of course the 355, but don't have to money to run them.
I've always loved the 456. Many slated the styling as 'bland' but I think it looks great, the interior too. I nearly bought a red manual 456 for £22k (£22k!) in 2014 but went for a V8 Vantage instead (for £10k more) due to potential running costs. I should've bought the 456 and a cheap runabout! BRG is perfect on this. Ideally with a nice rich tan interior, yum. Yes we had CDs in 1994, jeez Sam! Oh and btw that posh voice you put on... same as your normal voice! ; )
Vicky: “what did you bring me back from your trip? Sam: A Ferrari 456gt It’s easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission so you might as well buy it. 👍👍
If it turns out to be the right car, and you can swing it financially, I say absolutely go for it Sam! For myself, ideally I'd prefer a 550, but if I couldn't find the right one at the right price, I'd be very happy with a healthy 456
Ferrari made a video of them building the 456, which was to be the most luxurious Ferrari V12 ever. Extra effort went into every aspect of it. It had been conceived whilst Enzo was still alive & the guys wanted to build it in his memory. The ownership experience is less satisfactory. The side-windows are frameless & noisy. I’m unsure whether this was ever sorted. From memory there’s something costly that was fixed in the Modificato version. The M fixed many of the bugs. I’m a long-standing FOC member from 1982, & having been a member through the period the 456 arrived & was used, I’d say it didn’t really catch on. The 550 came out & is the V12 to buy! The interior & dashboard area of the 550 is just more dynamic than the bland 456! My conversations on running costs suggest £5k pa on 456’s. It’s not a car to buy on a modest budget or if you don’t have a very well-paying job! The Roma bought at 2 plus years old will make better sense due to high early depreciation but will have 5 years of Free Ferrari servicing left.
This fella was expecting it to drive like a 30 year old Corolla haha. Its still a Ferrari for sale in a show room. Bound to be a great car! Great video to btw!

I still have one of those in dark blue. Just a model though from when I was a kid 😁
It’s absolutely beautiful, but the 550 takes my heart
Yep, same here. I've done about 80,000 kms in 550's.
Looks like a Ford Probe
I’ve always preferred this gentleman driver line of v12 Ferrari to the shouty look at me 599, 812 line.
I adore the 612.
Very engaging video and what a superb Ferrari!
£2k a year should run a good car. I've been running my 94 F355 for that on average the last 14 years. More on belt years, less on others. The 90's Ferrari's are my favorites.
How much?
Oh and btw that posh voice you put on... same as your normal voice! ; )
Hope you bought it. Lovely.
Why no mention of the 550?
Sam has the chrono going on his Speedmaster..... timing his drive in the 456??
Probably timing the video.
Vicky: “what did you bring me back from your trip?
Sam: A Ferrari 456gt
It’s easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission so you might as well buy it. 👍👍
lol So true... I'm famous for making the statement " oh by the way I...." lol
Weren’t the 550 and 575 the 456’s replacements, not the 612? Maybe the 550 and 575 were contemporaries of the 456. Not sure.
The 612 was the replacement of the 456 being the 2+2.
Don't see many green Ford Probes. Nice choice
They were 442ps mate. Not slow at all. Top speed of 192 mph, 0-62 mph in 5.2 seconds & 1/4 mile in 13.3 seconds at 107 mph.
Get it. Change the wheels and modify the exhaust. It would be an interesting add to your channel.
This fella was expecting it to drive like a 30 year old Corolla haha. Its still a Ferrari for sale in a show room. Bound to be a great car!
Great video to btw!
