This video deserves more views because this was super informative. I didn't know about the history of Hot Topic until I watched your rant. When I first went shopping at Hot Topic, I was unaware of how low-quality its products are. I have made several purchases at that store before and looking back, there is a list of items I regret purchasing. Three things I don't regret buying is the Invader Zim Gir hoodie, a grey and black long sleeved short with an angel wings design and a string choker with a silver heart pendant. Everything else was and will not be worth my money anymore. Here's the list of items I regret buying: sparkling star tights, black high highs, a pink plaid skirt, a Melanie Martinez hoodie and a few stickers. Other times I went to Hot Topic to buy gifts for my older sisters since they have interests in Hello Kitty, Harry Potter, and anime. When I don't go to Hot Topic, I am looking at other stores and find they have much better and cooler stuff than Hot Topic. 5 Below, Dollar Tree, Marshalls, and other stores can have what you're looking for a lower price. I can buy a pack of stickers and leg warmers at 5 Below within the budget I have inside my wallet. I don't know about the quality of the clothing 5 Below sells but I hope it is an improvement from what Hot Topic sells. Some clothing items such as leg warmers and beanies are seasonal but year round, they have socks, T-shirts, notebooks and stickers with cool designs and patterns. I have some hoodies from Marshalls from the men's section since they have great designs on them and have lasted a long time. I won't be making any purchases I regret anymore after this. Thank you for the video, Junie!
4:31 about cotton you can actually get different types of cotton, and I assumed to make the cheapest shirts possible they use the worst type of cotton which just happens to be the cheapest. Also there’s something companies use. That’s so sneaky and the consumers don’t realize it. Some companies actually mix polyester into the cotton. So the polyester becomes cotton polyester which they can pass it off as cotton.
that description 😭 omg I could write a whole essay about this shit. literally the alt community and fast fashion are like. oil and water. why are you calling yourself goth/punk and buying from hot topic or killstar. the whole point of these alt cultures - especially punk - is sticking it to the establishment and also just doing things yourself. overconsumption and capitalism is like the opposite of what it all stands for.
I love hottopic, got most of my stuff from there, honestly I would kill for the nice alt employees Honestly it's my happyplace but I'm not saying that there are no problems with it :/ they sold out but that's what brands do :( I got all my favorite stuff there and it sucks that they are like this
Does anyone know any places you can actually get good alt clothes/accesories?? (Preferably that ships to canada) I’d also prefer to support real artists :3
Do you or anyone have any store or brand recommendations for where I can find aesthetic clothing, shoes, socks, accessories, stickers, pins, and bags for a low price? I have mentioned 5 Below and Marshall's but I need more alternatives to shop at since Hot Topic isn't worth my money anymore. I want to buy high quality items for a low price.
MAKE SURE TO JOIN OUR DISCORD!! I'm very active as well! :3
