@@vseslavkazakov356 : regarding the pronunciation, that's true. We have zero problem to pronounce these words. But that's it. I couldn't understand a single word from the song... :(
@@vseslavkazakov356 No, the languages closest to Finnish are Karelian and Vepsian. Then comes Estonian and some recently dead Baltic languages. The 14 or so different Sami languages (mutually unintelligible) come next, but far far away. Hungarian is a long long long time away (4,000-6,000 years). In fact Hungarian is the language in the world with its closest relative farthest away from it, in the Urals.

I used to search for folk songs from many countries as a hobby when I was a teen. I also learnt the lyrics. I remember well how I learnt Swedish, German, Russian, Danish, and some of your Finnish songs with Loituma. It took me months to even memorize some parts of Ievan Polkka! 😂 and today I barely remember anything but if I see the written text like here, I remember how to sing it with all the tones and pauses. I never thought back then, 15 years ago, that one day we’d have the luxury to have you guide us through this song! I am truly grateful of YT for bringing us closer to artists like you 💕 you are a beautiful woman and I will admire you and Loituma my entire life.
I moved from a Finnish-American area of Michigan to New Hampshire. It took a year, but I'm finding American Finns here, too. I went to an event with traditional music and pastries. I'm a Finnish person myself, but I've never really grasped the meaning of the lyrics because, well, I've never read them (only heard them in song) and it's not exactly Modern Finnish, or Finnish without an accent. And because the song goes on quite fast, keeping up with the meaning is hard. I am very grateful for this video, rakas Hanni!
Hello Hanni! Greetings from Sweden! Thank you Dear! I met this song more than 20 years ago (around the year of 2000) and fell in love with that at the first moment. I don't even speak a word in Finnish, but I always wanted to learn this song's lyrics! That's a big help for me now!!! Thank you! ❤❤😘
👍👏👏👏 Thank you Hanni! I believe these times of the pandemic have brought two much better viruses on YT and TikTok; 'The Wellerman', thanks to a young Scottish singer/musician Nathan Evans, who put a video on TikTok, and loads of people used that as base and added song and instruments. Ievan polkka is the other one. IF anyone possibly could tell me 1. How did it become a vocaliod's song in Japan? How did it get there? I think it was dancing around in South Korea as well 🤔 2. HOW DID IT END UP IN TURKEY, with the musician, drummer, Bilal Göregen??? Anyway, his drumming (a single hand drum!) and, yeah, hm, sort of singing, made success, reached South African musician 'The Kiffness' (David Scott, almost some irony in that? What is it with the Scots these days 😂?) who made an amazing re-mix, him playing synthesizer and trumpet, addition of a saxophone and violin, played by musicians from other countries, and "The Vibing Cat" (which happens to be Canadian). This spread like wild fire (if one dares to use that word nowadays!), there's an uncountable number of versions out there now. Try google 'Ievan Polkka'! This is what I call "go viral" 😂 😂! Some people have made loops of both Kiff's re-mix and other, some based on Kiff's, up to, what I know, TEN HOURS! Ten hours of Ievan Polkka, a blind, Turkish street musician and a South African musician who works miracles on his mini synth. A follow of other musicians from all over the world, Kiff's wife dancing (not polka though!) and a vibing, white, Canadian cat! This is what The Internet was built for!!! To connect people all over the world! ❤️❤️❤️
A big THANK from Russia) It's a very beautiful song! I've been loving it since I were a little child and now I can understand every word. Finish is really beautiful language 😍

Me: oh, nice, now I’ll be able to sing along :)
*Hanni starts singing*
Me: nevermind
Do try!! =)
@@HanniAutere It’s such a beautiful song and such a beautiful voice! I listen to it very often and now I can sing some parts of it, actually!
@@HanniAutere I will sing this whenever I want to scare the cats. The song is great. My singing? Not so much.
I got hooked on this song long ago. The one playing the piano here, Ive seen her grow from a young woman to her age now. still sounds great
many years of happiness listening to this song
It's me playing and singing here, it's my channel. Good to hear you like it. =)
@@HanniAutere I got hooked on this song long ago. I recall you at the end of the line far left. the ultimate ear worm! Finnish language is so beautiful. rarely if ever heard. Be well!!
Thank you Hanni ! Finnish is a beautiful language, really great for rhythm and "musicallity". This song has left its mark in History, on the internet and in our minds. Cheers from France 🇨🇵✨
I'm not even joking after 6 days of constantly watching this video for 2 hours and practicing the lyrics i was able to sing it fairly!
I'm not even finnish but i love singing this and all thanks to this video!❤
Cool! =D
I'm from the United States and I don't speak a word of Finnish. I have wanted to learn to sing this song for years and this is the most helpful video I've found. Thank you so much!
She nailed that solo exactly like she’s done in all of the recordings for the past who knows how long. Now I want to learn Finnish ❤
Remember when sing-along song lyrics on screen had "Follow the bouncing ball"? We need to bring that bouncing ball back.
=)
This song helped me go through some extreme depressing times. ❤️ Even though i dont understand a single word.
I'm so glad you're still healthy and the rest of loituma is still on good terms and all. This is a beautiful song it makes me want to learn Finnish just to sing along to this.
I was planning to learn Japanese in 2024, but now I have a new goal.
Glad to see Leekspin girl sing. Greetings from Russia ❤
omg finally i can sing it fluently, when i heard this song for the first time, i was thought that i can't sing this song well because it's too hard for me, but now i can ❤️ thank you so much, i am really appreciate 😊
Greetings from Turkey! You are amazing!
The easiest way (for me) to learn foreign words is through music and speaking in a rhythm, so this was a marvelous way into Finnish! I’m not the only one who enjoyed it either. My cat was vibing the whole time.
I can't believe these words fit in my Tamil speaking mouth. You made wonders happen. My speech also improved tremendously. Thank you for teaching us this song
Omg are you the original singer? I'm shocked and amazed 😍 I didn't realize until I scrolled down the comments. Lots of love. From Turkey ♥️
Yeah, I'm in the Loituma original. =)
She did the famous improvised verses :D
@@dragonmoth96 Yep! =)

I am Hungarian and I did not manage to understand a single word from it but I still decided to learn it myself and teach it to my little Son! :)
I'm so happy to hear that. Greetings to your son. =)
well Hungarian is closest language to Finnish besides Estonian so atleast you can read more than 20 percent of the words without your tongue going inside out
@@vseslavkazakov356 : regarding the pronunciation, that's true.
@@frankysnephew BAck in the 1980s I was casually waiting a bus at the stop. People around me were talking normally in Finnish but curiously I did not understand a word. I though did I have a brain stroke or something ... but then it dawned on me they were a group of Hungarians, in the city perhaps because of its industry...
Hopefully our children will also enjoy folk music like yours. They do seem to respect it and like it already but they are quite small yet :)
Oh, thanks! Greetings to your children! =)
I've been listening to this song for years and have tried to read the lyrics along as well but this tutorial was so awesome that for the first time I kinda managed something maybe 50% close. Singing a language you don't know is hard; thank you for slowing it down for people to learn.
So nice to hear this! =)
21.000 SUBS! THANK YOU!!!
Oh hi Hanni again =) Thats great news :> Anyways, i hope you 100000000000000 subs thats quite much or no lol for you no you need them... You have subs at the speed of the clock :) Wow..... I cant wait on new video with Tomi :) Europan power =)
I love how you smile not only with your face, but with your voice as well, it adds beautiful depth
Play it on 1.75x speed. You're welcome :D
I've learned this in 2006, and everybody around me still wonder how I did this :) I don't know Finnish - only the song ;) Greetings from Ukraine :)

Ай, молодець !
I moved from a Finnish-American area of Michigan to New Hampshire. It took a year, but I'm finding American Finns here, too. I went to an event with traditional music and pastries. It was wonderful, and I was quite pleased when I heard the instrumental versions of Säkkijärven Polkka, and Ieva's Polka❤
Ok hanni you still answering. yet 4 months old this video. Thanks for this song .I watched previous versions of this song and the time was 4oclock at morning.... Like your rhythm and voice. you all 4 rocking....
Me practice the song slowly while spinning holding leek:

I can’t get enough of this song, I find myself singing this part on my walks. “salivili hipput tupput tapput äppyt tipput hilijalleen”.
Even you are old, but your smile is gold
Thanks for sharing 🙏
When it's slower Ievan Polkka sounds really another, but in my opinion so much better, I love your voice!
Greetings from Poland!
After months of listening to this song non-stop, I have finally learned how to sing it!
I'm proud of you! =)

Hanii-Mari Autere was born in 1969, she is a Finnish musician, folk singer, and violinist. She is a member of Loituma. Autere has become known for the singing freestyle in the song Ievan polkka as a part of Loituma music group which has later become known as a Leekspin girl meme.
It's Hanni, not Hanii. =) Just curious, but where did you get this from?

Such a positive and nice person and the Finnish language is so beautiful. Wouldn't say anything about the song itself, because we all know why we are here XD. Love from Russia
stuck in my head forever. Took and printout and learning word by word.
I have no idea why this is soothing.
Love from India. ❤️

Thank you! ❤❤😘
I don't speak Finnish but I'm so obsessed at this song. I love it 🥴
Two years ago I discovered loituma ievan polkka 😍 Thank you ❤️
Am still learning ... " Lyrics" 💯
I watched because she seemed just so kind. :3 Now I know the lyrics better
👍👏👏👏
Thank you Hanni!
I think it was dancing around in South Korea as well 🤔
Just seeing this woman makes me feel instantly happy!
looks like every single finnish word could serve as an unbreakable password !!
however, I looove the song deeply
=)
A big THANK from Russia)
It's a very beautiful song! I've been loving it since I were a little child and now I can understand every word. Finish is really beautiful language 😍
