Also, they are forcing her to be this symbol of hope. Katniss was 16, she only cared about saving her sister then saving Peeta. It isn't right to put this on the shoulders of a now 17yr girl.
if you think making past victors competing again is fucked up, for the first Quell, the districts had to hold elections to vote which tributes to send to the Games. For the second, they had to pay up twice the amount of tributes, and those were the Games Haymitch won. The recently announced new book will follow it. A friend of Katniss's mother went that year, too. My theory is the Quell idea they replaced with Katniss's is that the parents of the reaped tributes would fight in the Games.
Katniss is not in love with Gale. She never has been. He's a hunting buddy to her that's it. Peeta is the one she has finally come to understand she loves which is not good because she lost him since the rebels were just focused on getting her out.
Keep going. One more book which they split into 2 movies as was the fad at the time with Harry Potter and Twilight.
Gale has always liked Katniss. She didn't have those feelings for him.
