Loved your reactions! Katniss & Peeta got to go live in the Victors Village, where Haymitch ( their mentor) lives in District 12. They get nice houses & riches. Their District gets free food for a year. Hey guys, Katniss technically killed 3 people. She cut down the Tracker Jacker nest letting it fall to the tributes sleeping below. The blonde girl w/the bow & arrows got stung to death. She shot an arrow into the guy w/the spear, who killed Rue. She shot Cato w/an arrow to put him out of his misery as the MUTTS were tearing him apart. They don't tell u this in the movies, but MUTTS are any kind of genetically mutated creatures/monsters created by the Capitol. Those funky looking Pit Bulls were created by using the eyes & DNA from the fallen tributes. Those things are even creepier in the book. When Haymitch tells Katniss that the higher ups in the Capitol aren't pleased w/her showing them up, he is coming from a place of great concern & experience. Haymitch's Hunger Games was the 50th during what they call a Quarter Quell. Every 25yrs, the Capitol does something "special". During Haymitch's Hunger Games, twice the number of tributes were chosen. So instead of 24, there were 48. Haymitch pretty much stayed away from everyone until it was down to him & another tribute. He knew he was next to the barrier. So, when she threw her axe @ him, he ducked & the axe hit the barrier richocheted back her killing her. The Capitol/ maybe just President Snow believed he did it to show them up. They sent Peace Keepers to killi his family & his girlfriend. That & the fact that each year for 23yrs since he won & became a mentor each pair of kids have died is the reason why he drinks. Ok, that's enough. I'm glad your lil sis liked it enough to want to watch the 2nd movie.😊

I highly recommend the books. I've read them and listened to the audiobooks. There's obviously a lot that's left out. One thing I wish they had put in the movie was the fact that Rue's district got together and sent Katniss a loaf of bread as a thank you for what she did for Rue. That was unheard of in the games. Can't wait to see your reaction to Catching Fire.

They win yearly earnings and s new house in Victor's Village. Plus those who won are never supposed to be entered in the reaping anymore. But her sister is still vulnerable. Also the District gets monthly food packages, which is why the districts don't usually help each other. The alliance between 11 and 12 shown here is supposed to be worrisome for the Capitol.
Technically, alliances between districts are fairly common, at least in the early game (1 and 2 were allies, for example). But a temporary pragmatic alliance is different from actual _caring._ Seeing somebody actually _mourn_ somebody from another district... that's what really lit the fire and switched people from, "I really, really hate this, but there's nothing we can do," to, "we are _going_ to do _something,_ even if it is hopeless."

You have made a good beginning. These films can get pretty intense as you go along in the story.
Since you are not familiar with Josh Hutcherson (Peeta) he was in Little Manhattan and Zathura: A Space Adventure (both 2005), RV (2006), Bridge to Terabithia (2007), Journey to the Center of the Earth (2008), and The Kids Are All Right (2010) and then he started on the 4 films of The Hunger Games.

The winners do get some kind of reward. You'll see and hear more about that in the sequels. The books also still stand up. I've read all of them except the new one that recently got released, which is what the newest movie is based on. The new movie is a prequel.

Also side note Peeta is actually trying to lead the careers away from her not to her, everything he did was for her to survive, he actually really does have a crush on her.
Also Haymitch suffered a lot , his family and girlfriend was murdered because he also showed up the capital, he had to mentor watch his tributes die over and over again. Katniss was the first glimpse that they could survive.
His reward is a kind of town homes that are in their district but only for victors, so all these years it’s been haymitch alone living there. They get money and food and a home there.

I liked the first and 2nd Hunger Games movies didn't full watch the others. There is also a prequel that came out and I forgot the name of it lol. Y'all gotta get back on the Harry Potter movies. Y'all are about to go into Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban which is one of my favorites and Machond enjoyed it too.
The next Harry Potter should be up by next week 😁 and we just watched the fourth one last week

I guess Machond gets tuned out I don't know 😂. This is how I feel if you don't cry when you see the last Harry Potter movie I don't know what's wrong with you 😂. Cuz I cried like a damn baby and I worked at a movie theater in my co-workers were asking me if I was okay 😂. It's just Harry Potter holds a special place in my heart because it's about so much more than just magic.
In the next movie keep in mind - Peeta lost his leg as a result of his injuries in the games, but that is left out of the movie. Being an amputee has an impact on his abilities and how people view him later on. Just something to remember if you see him struggling or people worrying about him!
Come on, he doesn't struggle more than Katniss. He saves Katniss's life as many times as she saves his. They worry about him because they like him. People just focus on his struggles because he's a man and he's expected to be all strong and shit. But he's a 16-17 years old boy who works in a bakery. There's no reason he should be superman in this world. That's actually something I really like about this serie. You could swap Katniss and Peeta's gender and the story would be identical. There's no "he's a man so he should be the protector" shit in this story. They both protect each other many times and they're both ok with it. It's just us, the viewers of the 21th century who sees a problem in that.

Anime nerd over here!!! Lolol you can watch the 'my hero academia' movies and be able to follow, but would highly recommend the anime AND movies... especially since 4th movie is coming out in Japan this summer... unsure if it's be out in the US at the same time or not

Well buckle up cuz this series is three books the third one got turned into new movies and then there's a prequel and oh my God the Harry Potter movies are great and they are set lights in the 90s this series is in a dystopian future in the US after its shrunk because of global warming causing sea levels to get higher is at least a hundred years in the future probably two or three hundred
