Just the stock size (same size as a standard 172 tire). The hub will handle bigger bush tires, but pushing those bigger tires through the water with the gear down is an issue.
So is it a community secret? I’ve yet to see a video or hear discussion on one key point - how do you get in/out of a SeaRey (or any non-float amphib) while it’s in the water?! Love these airplanes...how do they hold up in Florida salt?
As with most seaplanes, at some point your feet are going in the water. In the case of the Searey, if you can't put the gear down and taxi up on the shore, you have to get out of the airplane and get wet. Salt water (and salt air) cause a lot of corrosion issues, but with extensive, meticulous preparation and ongoing inspections, it is manageable. If you don't go into salt water, your airplane will last longer but you will miss out on some of the best adventures!
Thanks Kevin! Just making sure I wasn’t crazy. (Well, at least not for that reason.) No doubt, looking forward to some additional ratings to expand that a bit!
Yes. A sport pilot can get a light sport seaplane endorsement! There is a great video by Paul Bertorelli on this here m.ua-cam.com/video/KQ7LN0hG1tE/v-deo.html
YOU ARE LIVING MY DREAMS....I hope to be doing this by next year when I move to FL.
Cool video Kevin. I’d for sure like that plane if I lived there
Do you run bigger tyres than stock on your Searey? Looks like it! Cool.

@@kevinoaks is it only Searey Elite that's able to taxiing to the beach with its landing gear down?
@@kaikart123 All modern Seareys are amphibious with essentially the same landing gear system.
@@kaikart123 I do this all the time in flight sim with this plane, great fun 😁
4:50 is all that red tide? or just optical illusion?? I'd absolutely love to fly a Searey!~!~!~
Nice.
Can a pilot with only a Light Sport rating also get a float plane rating?
