  • Flying my new SeaRey from Minnesota to Michigan. Crossing Lake Michigan on the way. The plane hasn't been flown in over a year and so we're finding a few small problems on the way as well as dealing with winds gusting to 35 knots.

    The production value of this is off the charts. Impressive bud.

    Super awesome trip. Thanks for sharing it. Man, that last landing was definitely hairy, lol. Definitely a great example of how to keep flying the plane, even long after touchdown. Bravo on that landing!

    Fantastic journey, Guys. Cool airplane, too! Just a heads up: Lead is not in any way a lubricant. Enjoy!

    Amazing videos, really! I would love to fly the Searey some time, but there aren't many here, sadly! Subscribed, naturally

      Thank you! Amazing stuff flying the scoopers. There was a couple at a local field last year and they me crawl around the fire boss. Looks like a dream job!

      Yes I very much want too. North Fox is easy. But I’d love to explore High, Garden, the state owned portion of South Fox and the other public islands.

    It looks like you found the throttle friction adjustment

      There's no friction adjustment unfortunately. The throttle linkage was just SUPER loose.

    What is the point of retracting the gear when staying in the pattern? The drag is the same.

    • @thecommercialpilot
      @thecommercialpilot  Рік тому +3

      Not normalizing deviation. Taking off? Gear goes up, no matter what. Too easy to “leave it down, just doing around the pattern for a few…” and then “oh let’s pop into the river” and now your sunk.

      My fren just finished his rebuild after doing exactly that. Gear down water landing.

    what engine you you have on this plane?

  • @kalbic
    @kalbic 2 роки тому

    You need to take your hand off that throttle, every time you start coming in you hit more throttle, not sure why you kept doing that.

    • @thecommercialpilot
      @thecommercialpilot  2 роки тому +1

      Yea. SeaRey needs throttle on landing. Since this video I got a week of transition training. You land it like a wheel landing on Tailwheel with a little power.

    What a awesome body but such a turd of a wing. Replace that wing and every one would buy it.

    • @thecommercialpilot
      @thecommercialpilot  Рік тому +1

      Oh I dunno about all that. It gets off the water in ~350ft and cruises reasonably fast enough compared to similar aircraft. The Icon with it's modern CAD designed carbon wing isn't any faster really, and it's a little longer takeoff too.
