I believe the second to last caller is mistaken about German being in the Yankee organization. MLB is showing his last transaction as being assigned to a minor league team in the Pirates organization. I don't think the Yankees want any part of what he's got going on.

Gil has earned a spot in the rotation. He's been outstanding.
The only thing he needs to work on is his command. He is unhittable but he has to reduce the walks. Even though he can get out of 98% of the jams he puts himself in he throwing way to many pitches to last 7 innings.
Did you watch Dominguez’ post game press conference? When he said “ACK! ACK! ACK!”, I felt that.

Already said it but I’ll say it again. Thank god the padres wanted Brito and Vazquez and not Gil.

Nestor needs to be the long man in the bullpen. Use Gil in the rotation.
We will have to see if Schmidt can continue post 6th inning in the next few starts. If he still struggles for the 3rd appearance of the batters, keep him as long reliever options in the bullpen.
It will be nice to have 2 lefty starters pitching in Yankee stadium.
It seems that many people have forgotten how the Yankees organization mishandled Joba Chamberlain's career by constantly switching him between starting and relief pitching roles. I kindly request that we avoid making the same mistake with Luis gil and allow him to establish himself as a starting pitcher.
Gil looks like an All-Star...just like Nestor did two years ago (but not now)!

Think we have to give our pitching and hitting coaches some credit and Cashman. If things stay like this no way Soto goes to the Mets. That will be a death sentence for him. Stay in pinstripes
Leading the majors in BABIP is actually a bad thing. It doesn't matter how electric your stuff is, running a .186 BABIP against isn't sustainable. Even the best seasons for BABIP generally end in the low-.200s, so that just says that there's room for regression to the mean.
To be fair though, he is in the 87th percentile of hard hit percentage so he is generating soft contact to go along with his elite strikeout stuff
I don't trust Gil in the BP & won't until he gets his walks/command under control. Walks are bad enough but are even worse when ya come outta the pen & walk peeps. 🤷
Our DH will break our hearts in the post season. Good pitching will expose all of this weaknesses and the neon sign will be bright. Its going yo hurt! Stop the giancarlo train . 238 is not a good look.
Stanton has played his role well so far. If hitters #1-#4 do their jobs and get on base then pitchers have to pitch to Stanton. Which is where he's been effective this year.

Gil is pitching like a legit ACE but i do think he will cone out of the rotation when Cole returns because they will be cautious with his innings this season due to coming off TJS. From what ive read, they want to keep him at 100 innings this year
@NYYRecaps couldn't the Yankees go with a 6 man rotation to allow Gerrit Cole to ease back into a starting role? It honestly would help everyone as well since Gil is on an innings limit, Schmidt is on a tear but let's see how he does as the season progresses because last season he pitched the most innings of his career. Nestor could benefit as well coming back from injury!
