    I think natural gray hair is absolutely beautiful. Seriously stunning. I don’t understand these haters who say things like “it ages you”… no. It’s beautiful ❤

      Yes!!!! I think these people are just brainwashed by society. So we just keep on moving and loving being gray... eventually, people will get used to the idea that young people have gray hair. It is a natural thing.

    That’s exactly what I did. Went blond first because I had dark hair. I am glad I made that decision.

      Thank you, friend! Sorry I never replied... sometimes the comments get lost. Hope you are keeping warm. It is 68 degrees right now here in TX but it will go up to 83 (which is pretty standard for this time of the year)... I wish we had crisp beautiful falls... but I am thankful I can grow a second garden in the fall, so I should not be complaining.

      Don't feel pressured to do it, but it is life changing. I love my hair and love it that I am not tied to the weekly touch ups. It used to drive me crazy. And now a days, hair stylists can help you with the transition or pretty much get it done in one long day (if you are willing to dish out a lot of money)!!!!

      Thanks for sharing!! You are right... i only wash my hair a couple of times a week... it helps keep it hydrated by letting the natural oils (which tend to slow down as we age) to accumulate. A good brush can then distribute the oils down the strands and manage the frizz. ;)

      Go for it! That would be my recommendation. You can always color again if you don't like it. :) I really feel that my current color is hip and, if nothing else, it has inspired me to take better care of myself so I feel good and look better from the inside out. There is a little bit there during the first 2 to 3 months when you doubt your choice and it is a blow on your self esteem. Wear hats, wear headbands, or just don't care. Soon the results will show that it was all worth it. And if you feel that you have to look a certain way for work, then try the bleaching route. Best of luck! I can't wait to hear about your journey in the near future. :)

    Oh Catherine I soooo love your natural grey hair and truly think it is the best colour for you. It really makes your eyes pop.
    You look like you have had expensive highlights and your hair looks so healthy and alive.
    If you fancied a change, you could use a wash out highlight wax like Mofajang to apply to just the coloured ends of your hair in maybe electric blue or purple which would look stunning against your natural grey hair.
    Mofajang washes out instantly with just one shampoo and does not leave any colour behind. If you put it in the search on YT there are loads of videos of people using it.

      @Catherine Hopkins Designs Life thank you for replying! I actually have my first appt to start transitioning to grey hair early April. I'm just so tired of covering every silver strand with boxed color, which is what I've done for most of my adulthood. I started graying in my 20s and am now 44. I just want to see myself at a point where I can embrace the natural beauty that is Gid given or "unchanged" by covering it up. I am not the most confident person about aging, but as I age, I find myself becoming more comfortable in my own skin so to say. I would love any tips/ advice you have for me. 😃

    • @CatherineHopkinsDesignsLife
      @CatherineHopkinsDesignsLife  2 роки тому

      @@mabreystyles3919 Fantastic! So I don't know your current hair color... are you going blonde first? I thought that was a pretty easy way to transition. Specially since you can tone the hair after lightening it, so it has a grayer hue (platinum blond). I totally identify with you... this stage in life leaves us so tender and insecure... but fear not, you will be fierce when you come out on the other side. My husband is younger than me, and when we got married I was skinny and had dark hair. I always felt insecure then afraid that people would notice our age difference. Oddly enough, after my transition, I feel that I look amazing and original, and because of that, confident! I no longer think that other people are noticing our age difference. LOL. Weird right? Wonderful, Tania! Best of luck. Be patient, try not to care about the first month (which is the most awkward), and from them on wear that gray demarcation line with pride. You are a super strong woman for going against the norms and committing to a personal goal. I love that!!!! Good luck. I'm super proud of myself too... this month I challenged myself to post one video a day, and I haven't missed a day yet. It takes hours to plan, film, edit and post a video. But I am almost done. It has made me grow as human being, in that I've always struggled to committing to something. These little actions that seem superficial to others, can and are very deep representations of our inner growth. Sorry I went on like that. I'm just celebrating our courage. :*

    I'm 16 months dye free. And I was hoping it would take me 18 months to transition. But now I'm thinking it will be 2 yrs. But I could still be fooling myself...may take me 3yrs. My hair is your length. Last year in the beginning of my transition, I did dab on some root box dye only around the demarcation line to break it up a bit and it worked. But I knew it would probably set me back about 3-4 months even though I tried not to get too much on the gray areas. Only did that once. I discovered some gray colored root spray that I have been using just to give my darker hair some temporary highlights. I thought about going the real highlight route. But #1 I was scared of the damage and #2 the main point of going gray, was to stay out of the salon and away from dyes. Some days I do get impatient and want to do it, but so far I have resisted.

      😂 tough crowd … I have no idea which bands. He said he couldn’t recognize only one of the songs played… the name of the station is, predictably enough, Hair Nation. LOL. Yes, the grey hair 👩🏼‍🦳 community is still small, considering the size of the internet 😉

    Absolutely LOVE the color graduations. This is such a great look you have! I kind of wish I had dark hair to start, because I love the silver/black combo look, but your BLONDES mixed in! That looks so good, too. I agree about edgy! And not being too neat-looking! Always preferred uncombed hair on me. I also love your personality and honest about the changes you’ve gone through the previous three years. I so want to be (more) real about how I really look too! - but I also want to look a little more finished with makeup and smoother hair once I’m on my way to more gray. Less frizzy and unkempt which is what my hair can be. So I’ll look up your makeup vids! I’m completely inexperienced with makeup..at 66 yrs - never too late!
    I’d love to know how you have such smooth hair. Just the kind of hair you have? - or do you blow it out? Beautiful.

      Hi! I do straighten my hair by blow drying it. Otherwise the coarse, wiry gray hairs look crazy. I made a video on how I dry my hair. Being a little lazy about it, I let it air dry then use some coconut oil and straighten the air dried hair with a blow dryer and a round brush. It does the work super quick. No, it is never too late to learn new ways to do makeup and hair. Thank you so much for the kind words. I love all sorts of grays. One of my friends felt like she had too much gray so she put some lowlights on her hair and it looks super fun. Feel free to ask me more questions if you need help with something and I am so excited you chose me to help polish your new look. :)

    Hi I last dyed my hair 3 months ago and I am finding I actually don’t have that many greys. I’m a bit annoyed as I was hoping to end up like a silver Fox but looks like I will end up a dull brown with a few scattered greys! It’s so much harder to embrace being grey and natural when I don’t have enough greys and now I find myself thinking of dying again. Help?!

    • @CatherineHopkinsDesignsLife
      @CatherineHopkinsDesignsLife  3 роки тому +4

      You are too cute! Embrace the few greys you have. They give your hair sparkle and dimension. But don’t feel pressured to stay natural. For me continuing to color was not an option. I was constantly battling with the box. Every two weeks mind you. It was insane and not for me. So now it is up to you... do YOU want to continue coloring? Do YOU prefer the way you look and feel with colored hair? Do YOU want to see it through to see how you feel about not having to color your hair? Take a deep breath and see what your brain and gut tell you. After all, you are the one who has to live with your hair. My niece is only in her early 30s and has a few gray hairs here and there, but she chooses not to color because it makes her feel empowered and confident about her freedom to show her gray hair without considering what other people think. We are all motivated by different reasons to color or not to color. Be kind to yourself and trust what YOU want. Sending you hugs 🤗, Caroline, and wishing you to make the perfect choice for you. And remember: it is just hair. It will grow.

      I also haven't dyed my hair for 6 months.
      My daughter says that she has more grey than I do.
      But the Grey's look like highlights. An option to consider is to use toning colors to make the grey look even better or semi permanent hair colors that will only lightly color the Grey's and make them look caramel or reddish or whatever color you choose.
      Although I have looked into these options the only thing I have done is toning .
      I mean toning shampoo or temporary grey toning colors.
      It doesn't do much.
      An option I am thinking about is when it all is 100 percent natural I can use silver grey hair color if I don't like my natural grey.
      It's just an option I may never do it.
      Bur for now I love the way the Grey's look on my medium brown hair.
      They really look like highlights.
      So take it one step at a time and remember there are still many options for us with temporary colors that wash out and do not change natural hair colors.
