After seeing you bathe in a river - in the middle of winter no less - I didn't figure you would be bothered with heat. lol Amazing work my friend! Really missed seeing you upload.
Amazing to watch this series and realize how much progression one person can make with continuous effort, all adding up over the years into a wonderful creation!
One of my favourite videos so far. Not only because the heating system is essential to live in the hut when it's cold, but it also helps tremendously with cooking proper meals. My parents own a hut and in the cellar there is an old stove of my mum's grandparents. It's so satisfying to heat it and use the heat to cook something. Warmth and food... it's the little things that make us happy.
Those late 19th century wood stoves can be incredibly sophisticated. Just the start/stop times are so slow. But even that might not matter so much in winter.
This is , Erik, by far the most perfect fire place installation I've seen, and I am a fire prevention expert. I wish that all DIY projects of that kind were done the way you did. Congratulations, and by the way, great smoking house.
Oh, I don't know. Put what I'm assuming is cement board over the logs but left no stand off for air flow. That's not really a heat shield the way he did it
Besides something being perfect or not (something isn't more perfect than something else) this heating system is decent at best. Doesn't take away that this man has done and still is doing fantastic work, and most of it by hand and by himself as well. That's more than commendable in itself already.
All of your videos is therapeutic to watch. No "Click and subscribe" nagging (and that is the reason why i am clicking and subscribing) and no talking. Keep up the good work, Erik!!! :)
The most talented off gridder truly doing it by hand with century old proven methods. No on is as good as the Gorgeous and skillful Erik Grankvist. I'd love to live in the Cabin !!!
Absolutely awesome young man! Of all the 'cabin builders' on YT, with especially your roof build and the correct insulation you've used, you're the ONLY one who's taken full consideration in correct engineering when it comes to the 'R-Value' to stay warm! Yes, you'll have the MOST comfortably warm cabin of all the builds, and done right!

Erik has amazed me from the start. He is only like 19, and has demonstrated skills that guys three times his age do not have. He approaches everything he does with consideration, determination and a sense of perfection, and somehow manages to film, edit and present it with that same style and precision. I have known some very accomplished craftsmen, but they were all of advanced age, having garnered their knowledge and skills over their lifetimes. Apparently, Erik is a natural.
Erik, I am so amazed of a young man like you have so much knowledge on everything you do!! I am sure your parents are very proud of you!! Thank you for the videos I look for them 😊
At seven minutes into your video I enjoyed hearing a Swedish cuckoo. And working on your stove in the log cabin was a huge step forward, Erik. Congratulations. You make lighting a fire with bark and a flint and steel look so easy. Love that you have a smoke-house too.
So happy you haven't forgotten all about us, man!! We missed you so much. Wish we could see the finished product of your stove/fireplace combo. Please, don't be so stingy with us, we love your work too much!

Fascinating work....complicated and it will be good to see it all finished and working. Your helper is a great addition. Care to explain... Waiting for further work. Thanks for documenting this so well.
It looks amazing. I hope you stay safe while in use. My concern is that the wall doesn't have any air space for allowing the convective air flow behind it. A proper heat shield needs air space. Wood is like toast and over time may combust. Take care and be well.
It's fantastic watching how much more comfortable you are with an ax after all these years. You approached that tree with outright a casual "Here we go again" determination. Can't wait for the next episode, the chimney making is always incredible to look at.
Well now I was sure excited to see your post .I love all you do.the fire place and stove look awesome. You have sure put alot of work into that place.
