Here is a video we've been wanting to do for a long time!
An outline of how the height and width of bags are affected by earth being filled inside them. This is a very common question, and there is lots of variables in the field, but here is a good guide and some real-world experiments.

If you search for ‘sandbag supplier/manufacturers’ and ask for the tube bags before they get cut into single bags, you should have some luck. Or, contact Calearth.org :)

How come the 470 mm ends up being 10mm taller than the 550mm, are you sure these figures are correct?

It’s a good question! As this was a small sample size, there is going to be differences in these dimensions. The 550mm bags can definitely be 10-30mm taller than the quoted dimension here. Both the width and height can vary 10-30mm based on a few factors. Thanks for asking :)
