See this is what i love about country/hill folk. can always figure out the homemade version of something. Thank You Cyrus. this was one of two hurdles keeping me from doing corn. Just gotta collect some lumber real quick and build this as my still come up to temp. I appreciate you sir.
Honestly, I wish I could take credit for the concept. I got it from a TikToker. I would have given them credit except I don't remember who it was. It is awesome though. Thanks for the comment.
Nice work man! I already have a frame built and a 2 ton hydraulic arm rigged up, but I think I'm going to steal the idea of using the plastic buckets as a press basket. Also, I love the juxtaposition of the "do it right" bucket sitting in the background while you explain mounting a car jack upside down as the press screw lol!!
Looks good. The only issue I can see is that there "might" be a problem over time (or pressing something hard) with the top board coming off. The only reason I say that is because anything nailed, or screwed into end grain is inherently weak. Just my speculation. Perhaps a couple of angle brackets over the 2 pieces would negate any potential problems? Gonna keep this design in mind for next year....thanks!
HI, this looks great but it would be awesome if you could do a follow up video showing how all the peices come together and working. Im a beginner and need all the info ;D Cheers!
Hahaha, the sound is meh, the video quality so so. The materials used... Hey, if you got them and it works? Who gives a flying fart. Put it all together and it's some fantastic UA-cam content. Love it!
I think mine broke because I didn't chop up my apples before trying too smash em 😂 ,or half a bucket of granny smith's must weight more than a sedan, ill never know

Very cool idea, brother!
Thank you. Cheap and easy, that's how I roll.
Looks great. I'll build one for next season
Thanks
I think it is certainly worth the cost.
Got spare jack that has found a purpose!!! Thanks!!!
Why didn't I think of that. Looks like it will work great.
Hillbilly Press 3000, love it!
And this boys and girls, is the reason Windsong can never find her 5 gallon buckets 😜
I wouldn't know anything about that 😏😘
😂😉
Lol

I agree with your assessment. I will probably add some plywood gussets for some extra strength.
Nice job! Great background music too.
Thank you sir.
Like it! Think it might work for finely chopped apples?
I haven't tried apples yet, but I imagine it will work. Possibly not as well as a commercially produced press though.

Thanks for the idea! I'll see if I can add that to my video list.
it could also work with a mash in your mash bag. Put your bag with your mash in your press an squeeze it out
🤔 this will probably work for a few fruits..... giving me couple ideas
This is a great idea compared to the commercial presses.
Can I get the material list?
Didn’t see any follow up to this how has it held up? What have you used it on? Are there any things that you would change to the design?
I have pressed fruit and grains with this and it has held up well. I can't think of any changes I would make at this time. Thanks for the comment.
Did you drill holes in bottom and sides I couldn’t see that well
I only drilled holes in the sides.
Jigsaw would be a nice tool to have
For sure. I do have one, but couldn't find it the day of. I worked with what I had, lol.

Thank you, I'm glad you like it.
Hey, I just hate people thinking in problems. Love people thinking in solutions.

I made the same thing with the same jack but mine broke the welds an blew up. I think a bottle jack will work better
@@Outlaw.angler I'm sure you're right. My scissor jack hasn't broke, but I bet a bottle jack would be better.

Hey buddy will this hold up to apple's
I've not tried apples yet, but I assume it would to some degree. I don't think this will be as robust as a commercially produced press.
just my thought but I would bet that in the long run a jig saw would be cheaper in the long run than a finger loss
@@johnwinn4213 true words brother, lol
Fkn genius
Lol, it's just a little hillbilly ingenuity.
Now drain some all grain in that.
Yep, I have. It works great.
