I appreciate you not just making a step by step. Sometimes it's nice to see all the progress but it doesn't actually "teach" other artists to take what they've learned and apply it to their own paintings. Thank you so much for making this tutorial it's really helped me.
Yay! So glad it helped you!
Thanks so much! I enjoyed it.
I love watching tutorials as they are so often a help. I would have enjoyed this one more if it actually shared the whole process. I understand that you want people to purchase more from you so you do not give it away. But frankly, I find myself supporting those artists who have helped me by offering a complete teaching process.
That's interesting. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so. I love everything you do.
awww that's so sweet! What a lovely comment. Thank you!
Thank you!!! This really helped !
So happy to hear that!
you're very talented
Thank you! 💕 I’ve painted almost every day of my life. Small steps and you’ll get there too! I bet if you take the How to Paint Soulful Eyes you’d paint like this too!
Gorgeous! I just started doing pet portraits.. where do i begin with the questions!? 😆
My biggest problem is the muzzle. Nose? Fine! It's the hairs on the muzzle. I have the brushes, I have the paint right, i just can't get that fine of a line. Tips on that would be suuuper helpful! Also, painting where the skin and fur meet? How to be more "painterly" or loose with pet portraits, not painting the individual hairs?
Those are some great questions. I hate to say it, but PRACTICE will help. I have a signature where by the end of it you'll definitely will have honed your skills at painting fine lines and watch my tips and tricks as I paint in real time for over 30 hours 🤗. For example, if you find that the stroke gets too thick, get a damp brush and remove some of it. I show this step inside the How to Paint a Dog Portrait course. GOOD LUCK!
Where do I find the link to your “How to paint soulful eyes” online course? Thx!

Wish I would have seen this video before my attempt at my moms yorkie’s eyes. If I went in with to much black can I do anything to change that now?
It’s never too late to improve and now you know more for next time. 😍 To make edits to your eye with too much black, try to add a blend of white and brown (if that’s the eye color) let it dry, and then go over it again with a darker brown. See if that works. I’m sure your mom will love your painting! Keep me posted!
@@StudioEriksdotter thank you so much and I am so excited to check out some of your courses! Do u varnish your paintings or have a video with recommendation on what to use and how u apply it? Thanks so much for all the help
@@BrandiWineRn I'm so glad and happy to help! I do varnish my art. I prefer to spray on my matte liquitex varnish. It has several great advantages that protects your art, and it also enhances the black tones more. We talk more about varnishing in the How to Paint a Dog Portrait course - open enrollment is in September! www.studioeriksdotter.com/learnwitherica/howtopaintadogportrait/
