Very interesting to hear your comments on owning and running the XSR, thanks! 👍 In the debrief after passing my test last month, talk turned to first bikes. My instructor suggested the Tracer7 as a great first bike, but I was also thinking something more retro, Triumphs and the like. Then I spotted the new 2022 colours for the XSR700 on UA-cam 🤗 I phoned my local dealer and left a securing payment on the new Historic Black. Delivery expected in the UK late April/Early May but as long as it’s here before summer I can (just about) wait! ps I am 56 years young 😎
Did exactly the same thing. Passed my test 3yrs back when I was 49 but I got an sv650 on a pcp decided a few weeks back that the 22 xsr700 in black was my next bike. Expected late April early may.. safe riding mate
That beep. I think your smoke detector needs a battery replacement :p Nice review. I am in the same situation. I've just bought the XSR700 2020 2 months ago as my first bike. The motorway is pretty scary still. It feels so light. But maybe i windscreen will do a little. In love with it so far. Got 600 KM on the counter right now. 2 degrees celcius right now. Would recomment heated grips from Oxford they are not expensive but they are so warm.
I have a 2018, I love it. I have done some mods but i am not doing scrambler I am going more street fighter. Hindle exhaust is nice, I have the Dart Piranha screen. I am putting gel in seat. I did the R & G Racing bobbins etc
Good review. It's my first bike too. Had it 18 months. Totally agree it's got all the power you need, fantastic torque, love the cp2 engine. Totally love it too, it's a keeper! Would like a Yamaha 700 tracer too for touring. I bought new, not a lot in price difference also a bit of a treat. So agree with all that and my thoughts the same! Yamaha mt/xsr/tracer, best "over-all/value& style" bikes in the world. Broad statement but I'm making it!:-)
Got my licence and the same model about 3 months ago. Sounds like I'm literally on the exact same journey with motorcycles as you are mate! Glad to see you're enjoying it as much as I am. Great review too. Thanks from down under. Also, your clock needs a battery change haha
Haha 🤣 ye that's garage is filled with stuff that hasn't seen batteries in 10 years. Thank you also for your comment, from a fellow Australian Citizen 😉👍🏼
@@irishsnowboarder This only means you have plenty of time to get it ready for the 2021 season :D. Aftermaket exhaust changes the bike alot, I got Leovince GP Duals on mine, it's ridiculously loud without DB killers, but I love the pops and crackles. If you plan to go for a scrambler look, I'd recommend SC project conic 70 exhaust - short & sweet.
@@odbytkonia1649 not going to bother changing the look of it at all. Seen one or two red bikes changed about, doesn't look great to be honest. With this colour going to leave as is, upgrade exhaust and suspension
I'm currently in a similar situation I'm 33 I've ridden over a few years now passed my bike test just before the 1st lockdown kicked in South wales UK on a Friday. I've now got a 2019 Kawasaki Ninja 650 KRT Had it before passing my test lucky me lol I also ride a Yamaha MT03 2016 that 2 weeks ago was involved in a rear shunt that was not my fault standard and long story GRRRRR Now I have a hire 125 scooter thing if I get mine back or not maybe thinking of changing my MT for a XRS700 As I did pass my bike test on a YAMAHA MT-07 Loved the twin engine great sound. So definitely thinking of a daily XRS700 MACHINE as it sits hire better riding position I'll need to test ride one to make sure I'm happy with it fun times X
Im waiting for mine to come in. I wouldve bought a used one but that's next to impossible in the states. I found one and after making all of the arrangements the seller changed his mind.. smh. So I just ordered a new one. Honestly, Im not thrilled about the color scheme, but I dont hate it, either. It's so much easier to buy a used XSR 700 (or 900) in the UK.
There really isn't that many in the UK now either, the demand is very high around the world as more and more people want to learn how to ride bikes and the supply isn't keeping up, Covid has also caused significant backlogs.
Just had a reply from Outa Doug.. and he agrees (or more I agree with him) about the sentiment that this is.. the best bike in the world..(ok they are my words!). But my/tracer/XSR.. with cp2 engine.. is amazing. It does everything and it's friendly! Well dude hope your still enjoying your XSR. I am, will never sell it, (unless starving or need to buy beer). I'd like an MT or tracer.. anything with CP2 eng... I'm in love with YaMaHa
Hi Andrew glad you love the bike, I loved mine but unfortunately I had to sell it as I moved country. Currently though I'm considering buying the new 2022 XSR900. The Xsr700 was a brilliant bike to own and thoroughly enjoyed it.
I wouldn't change anything myself other than exhaust, a wee screen for your benifit, maby a tail tidy. That's it. Wouldn't change a thing. Great bike. Just popped into my head there bar end mirrors? Have a look at them see what you think.
I also have the xsr700. In Australia they are restricted for learner riders. Also really love mine. (It is 186kg wet by the way. ) Easy to handle, and plenty power for town riding or going on scenic rides in the country or twisties. I have a screen but would get a bigger one for motorway riding or very long trips. The throttle is a bit twitchy but we adjusted the free play and it seems a bit better.
@@yolandenelson8146 ah this is true Yolande, must have been thinking of my bodyweight after Christmas 😂😂😂, great points too thanks and I wish you a very happy new year.
I just put a deposit on my 2022 XSR700! I've been riding a scooter for the last few months so this will be my first motorcycle with a clutch. I'm a bit worried because you said it's not good for the highway and I was getting it expecting it would be more stable than my scooter. I guess we will see
@@irishsnowboarder I love the XRS models but it has an identity crisis. 200cc does not transform one XRS into another type of bike. It's how the bike makes you feel, not the sum of its parts. The XRS makes you feel like a street bike that wishes it could get dirty. I was seriously considering buying one but I wanted the dirt. I instead got a Ducati Scrambler 800, essentially the same attempt at making the rider feel retro, but in an air cooled engine. Bikes are designed for personalities, not the road.
@@ericwilliams626 considered one of those also, all depends on your preference mate and glad you are happy with the choice you made... That's all that matters.
Some of us love that sweet-spot between 70-90 hp with enough torque for real world/non-track vibe. It's fun; can be sketchy when ya want it; hooligan and still be effectively chill, without the lurch/dive while you're using the majority of the powerband. To each his own. (I had a 1000 naked for 4 years) That 1k got annoying in town and traffic too.
