That is why we must never forget history.

My heart aches for both of them. But in the end, na-realize ko na kahit inabuso si Lola, nagtiwala pa rin sya sa isang hapon, si Miyasato. Salute to both women!

    A Brief Backgrounder:
The last comfort woman to survive during the WW2 Japanese occupation of Iloilo was born LOURDES "Uding" SEQUIO of Barrio Buyo in Sta. Barbara, Iloilo. She was a household helper and nanny to the 3 young children of a Japanese couple in Iloilo named Tokomori and Uta Miyasato.
When Tokomori's wife died on April 19, 1944, he married Lourdes to take care of his children. A year after, on April 28, 1945 in line of duty as interpreter for the Japanese imperial Army, Tokomori was killed at Punta bridge in Cebu.
Later, after the war, the former Lourdes Sequio of Sta Barbara, Iloilo married a DIVINAGRACIA. --dinggol.d~~~

my lolo was only 17 when the japanese soldiers took him from the farm while he was tying his carabao. afraid of getting killed by the japanese, he begged to become their ally, and helper. for 3 months he was with the soldiers in the mountains of Antique and Iloilo, he became a cook, a grave digger and a masseur. he digged the graves of his fellow filipinos being killed by the japanese. he saw how the japanese behead and slaughtered the filipinos and he would prepare their graves after. he cannot do anything because he was so afraid that the japanese knows where he lives and threatened him that they would kill his family. then one day, the japanese soldiers encountered the Guerellas, they had a bloody fight and all of the japanese soldiers died. when the Guerellas saw my lolo, they wanted to kill him for being an ally of the japanese, but my lolo explained his side to the Guerellas, that he did it for the safety of his family and ofcourse in order to survive. the Head of Guieella army listened to my lolo's plead, and in order to make use of him, they recruited him to build bridges and rebuild some houses that was destroyed by the japanese soldiers. it lasted for months. an unexpected encounter happened between guerillas and japanese, while they were shooting at each other, my lolo took the chance to escape. He ran and ran as fast as he could without looking back. he didn't go jome straights for the fear that someone might be following him, he went to his friend's house and stayed there for 2 weeks before heading home to his parents.
this is actually a long story , I could make a documentary. when given a chance I would film an interview with my lolo who is 92 years old now. I missed him and I hope to see him soon.

      One side lang narinig nyo.
Anong hustisya?
      Shame!

Lola Sichang unfortunately got the blame after the war just because she was born to Japanese parents but she will always be a Filipino because she was born here during the commonwealth and her parents were migrants.

They were very nice, she said but the Japanese officials indoctrinated them to look on other races as inferior. Some obeyed, but some just hid and left because they can't stomach what the Japanese forces did. Some Japanese even actively helped Filipinos to escape for the price of their own lives. It really is all about ideology.
