IU’s part was confusing to me at first also. But after giving some thought and knowing BTS, especially their lyrics it’s never a surface meaning, there’s something behind and it and why it was written this way. During pandemic time all meshed together - not knowing what tomorrow will be - when will it end, will things go back to normal- many left with confusing thoughts. Also , can also be- we all go through hard times, we can remain in that time or move on from it- we never know what will happen unless we make the choice to stay in the dark moment or move past from it. These are jus the thoughts I came up with so far.
Oh wow, didn’t expect your reaction this soon. So excited hear your thoughts. To me the song is very heartwarming and relatable. It just hits different. This kind of song is the reason I fell in love with BTS.
Yes agree, this kind of song is why I fell for them too, a great hook and thoughtful lyrics. I am loving Yoongi’s singing voice. I hope there is a lot of singing in his album 💜. Jealous you got tickets. I tried Belmont and and Bewark but got put on the wait list - boo! Incredibly Sad!!!!!
The fact that he wrote this song during covid. That time when he felt most vulnerable and in mv he himself said that it's letter to his past self from future self. I love him for that.
BTS have always shared how hard COVID-19 was for them, but have never really got into detail until now with FACE and People Pt. 2. It seems that it was hard for them as they had a feeling of losing their identity. Right before COVID came, they had prepared a world tour for MOTS:7. 40+ tour dates around the world through Asia, Latin America, North America, etc. It was going to be huge, especially as it would celebrate their 7th anniversary as BTS and as we know now, they were going to finish up the tour and then go enlist. COVID disrupted their plans, and they had a hard time with losing this but also staying away from army. Tae often said that he wondered if army even existed at some point because it was all just screens and random numbers, not actually people he could see in person. Even though it was difficult for them, they still did so much to help army and the general audience through the pandemic to keep them entertained. They did endless online concerts, livestreams, they released Dynamite and BE along with Butter and Permission to Dance a few months after BE. It seems as if they all had to face this dread of what if this is all over, the concerts they once loved, seeing army in person, it was as if their artistry came into question. It is not until now that we’re able to see a snippet of what they actually felt at that time since we only saw them working through the pandemic to be there for others, while also suffering themselves. Thank you for your reactions!
Suga has always stated that a song's lyrics and interpretation is entirely up to the listeners and welcomed varied analysis on his lyrics. And he's thorough with his work down to a T so I know those lyrics were intentionally written that way. Because this just invites you to introspect, mull over, analyze and explore the realms of possibilities while contemplating the potentials and ambiguities of language syntax. The first time I heard it, it sounded like poetry. But also disjointed, like some connections were missing to make it complete. And after hearing what he said at the end (again, a very deliberate placement of a shot right at the end of the mv) it made sense. The pandemic did make me feel disjointed, unsure, longing for human connection in a way I never had before. And with that context, the lyrics are brilliant, using the english language with deft. The time is yet now - Could be time is still, or time has somewhat stopped, or not (re-)started [taking from the literal definition of yet, an unspecified point in time that hasnt happened] OR time is still NOW, that even though it flows and passes by its always also the now OR time is still time, that even if we've changed or our perception of it has changed, time is still the same as its always been. Right here to go - There's no subject here, just the verb of moving; but unsure who's moving or where to. If we add on the previous line, it would seem that time, the one thats stopped or the now, is always right here ready for action, ready for you to move, ready to go. I know, you anything does know - Any thing ( any person, object, event; not making it exclusively a human thing) knows; its become well-known by all this knowledge (of time? loss? love?) Nobody doesn't know any anymore - My favorite. A double negative used to convey its meaning so beautifully. Nobody doesn't know basically states everyone knows. Except by using the double negatives, it carries with it an air of almost sadness at this event of everyone coming to know. As if its something he hoped they wouldn't know, but now everyone is aware of it. Again, this is just one way of interpreting it. We all may have different ways and the great thing is, they're all valid! Except thinking he made a mistake with english or his skill with the language is poor, because the placement of these "disjointed" words is way too deliberate for it be anything but intentional.
9:56 I knew the twins would second think about the hook. That's my initial reaction too, since it's in English it should've made sense already but it was kinda difficult to digest at first. I just took the whole hook like as something so UNSURE. That nobody knows anything as everything was so unsure at that time 🥹 That's just how I took it. It's like a whole blur inside his chest.
I personally think the chorus overall is about emphasising the importance of taking action in the present moment, without delay. The repeated phrase "So time is yet now, right here to go" encourages us to act now, and not to wait for some uncertain future. I interpreted it to be saying that the time is now, but at the same time the time is ready to go even though its right here, and present right now. And the line "I know, you know, anything does know" I think suggests that everyone is aware of this and that everyone has the potential to make a difference, to take action, and to change now. And finally the last line "Nobody doesn't know anymore" uses a double negative very cleverly, reinforcing the message that everyone is aware now. I think its really different when saying ‘everyone knows’ as compared to ‘nobody doesn’t know anymore’ its subtle but really changes the meaning and implications of the lyric. Its not that everyone has known forever, but its more so that everyone at some point gains awareness of the concept of time and how fleeting it is. Overall, i think the chorus is encouraging us to take action in the present moment rather than waiting for the future. These are still just my opinions and I’m sure theres many great interpretations out there too.
I’ve listened about a dozen times since last night… i really loved it first time but it has grown on me considerably… it is so intensely musical compared to people and other yoongi tracks… beautiful
Fun fact..... I was playing this song while my roommate was packing and when it was done I said doesn't that remind you of old school 90s hip hop and r&b? He said, I thought it was an old school song!!! Lmao 🤣😅😅 then he downloaded it!! So far I got him to download Jimin 's set me free pt 2, J-Hope ft J. Cole on the streets, and dynamite, butter, black swan and now Agust D people pt 2 ft. Iu!! Each time he downloads a new song I tell him your welcome!! Lol😂
I'm going to the concerts in New York on the 26th and 27th of April at USB Arena. I'm going alone, since my friend got tickets for LA. Just slightly nervous since it's been 12 years since I travelled alone, but I know it'll be so much fun and completely worth it!
I STUMBLED UPON THIS CHANNEL YESTERDAY AND I'VE BEEN BINGE WATCHING ALL THE VIDEOS!!!! AHHH THIS CHANNEL IS SO GOOD AND GENUINE. I LOVE WATCHING YOUR VIDEOS. I'm disappointed i wasn't in on your guys's journey. I love watching people getting to know BTS. I still have so many videos to watch and that makes me so happy
Hi please see the live clip of him and iu singing this song live its amazing ❤... Suga vocals is amazing... This is one of my favorite songs since I heard it😊
in the beginning the concept of the MV was different, he wanted IU to star in it, but she was very busy, so they changed it....interesting, what was the original idea. IU complemented the song perfectly, her and Suga's voices match perfectly
I'm loving this song as I knew Iu's voice fits perfectly with Yoongis rapping and also IU is my all time fav female soloist so I'm just happy these two collabed again, also the MV is so beautiful and I also love the lyrics aswell
Isn't it 3 am in your part of the world? Y'all are gonna be up? The song is amazing and I'm enterained by the folks going nust over the chorus. If you think less, it somehow makes more sense, I've found.
For me, this is one of the reasons why I love BTS but I'm not interested in kpop. I just feel like they're beyond kpop?...(just my opinion) Their lyricism is pure art. I love this contemplative song as you said. 💜💜💜💜💜
Going to see him in LA!!!! ❤ Can’t wait for his album, MVs, and D-Day documentary. I want to thank him for working so hard on giving us so much (vocals, dancing, concert tour, Suchwita, his humorous content and awesome artistry). He is letting us into his transformation from angry Agust D to settled Suga. Let’s all support this hard-working writer, producer, team member, and more!
I’m so excited I’m heading to Oakland for the show and can’t wait. This song has his soft touch in producing it’s got such a fun feel under the heavy thought provoking lyrics.
I think he was worried he lost the dream of the future for BTS themselves. Their world tour was one of the biggest ones they had planned with so many hits off that album. They worked so hard and promoted it so much in the US. And then, they had to cancel it. I imagine they thought they lost this amazing moment as their popularity in the US was just starting to grow. Little did they know that Dynamite would more than make up for any dreams they had about the world tour exposure!!!
Musical genius his parents gave birth to. Glad yoongi has been able expression his emotions with the world. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ forever will mark world this with the most genuine positive 7 beautiful Butterflies BTS
Ah I wish I could watch your reaction to agustd and d2 mixtape. Suga's songs always hit different. its just so raw and real. Also very excited for D-Day. i'm sure he's not gonna disappoint .
Well I was about to head to bed but not now. I love Yoongis’ voice all the time but especially when he sings. It has depth and a warmth to it that you wouldn’t expect and his English pronunciation is beautiful. This song has a longing but hopeful feeling. 🤌🏻🫶🏻💜💜🇨🇦
When he said he thought he lost everything I thought about the tour they had planned for Proof but had to be canceled from one day to the next duo to covid. My interpretation for the line "the us that dreamt of a future tighter is no more" is that it is both directed at army and bts because the concerts they had planned (and dreamt for) are no more because they had to be canceled. PS.: I don't know if you guys did it already on Patreon but I personally would love to see your reaction to "The Last" by Agust D. It's a very heavy song because he talks about his mental health, depression, OCD, social anxiety and how the fame they got affected him.
IU's refrain seemed like it was written first in Korean, then ran through an online translation app like Papago, then they just went with the online translation. Well, that's how it feels to me. I love the song, though.
14:27 "They say life is a struggle between resistance and submission. I think life is a struggle with loneliness". ~MYG I think the second aspect of that line is THE one that makes you think the most because when we choose to resist after a while it becomes lonely and if we choose to submit after a while we feel unheard (suffocated) and then feel lonely. So in essence loneliness is what you're struggling with, we all wake up every day to keep our lives exciting and purposeful so as not to feel lonely. 🔥
I think he wrote this when he had covid 19 in December 2021. We all feel uncertainty if we had that, right? In MV Suga washing his hands, all alone - no one there like if you're in quarantine, only companied by the dog.
the english lyrics are unclear on purpose. this is a tactic a lot of writers use, often in poetry, to make readers really think about the story is about. it makes it applicable to the reader exactly and also makes it constantly changing. which, like you said, is exactly what happened during the pandemic. it all mushed together and everyday was uncertain and could change meaning. yoongi is really such a genius. i personally have read the eng so many times and every time i come up with something different. armytwt is full of theories and interpretations. i love songs that actually make you think.
Suga listened to a lot Hip Hop Badboy inspired songs during the pandemic. The girl singing has a beautiful tone. But it would been next level to have Mary j Blige or faith Evans to kill the hook. Suga tune is heaven he can sing and his pronunciation of the words clear and concise.
This whole video screams boyfriend material Yoongi 🥹🤧💜 Love this old school hiphop, it's what I live for! 😩 And IU was just perfect for the hook 🤧💜 Thanks for this reaction my FAVE brothers! Always love listening to your discussions which are always on point! 💜
Great reaction. I am going to July 4th concert in Rosemont. Flying from Montreal. That is how much I love Suga! You guys will go first. Enjoy yourselves!
They were not actually alone during Covid. Maybe they felt alone without much interaction with ARMY, but one of the funniest things was an interview with an American entertainment news company (remotely) after Dynamite came out. The interviewer said,” You guys have spent so much time together it must have been hard not to see each other much during lockdown.” Then one of the boys (it might have been Jimin) in Korean,” doesn’t he know that we all live together?” Then RM in English,”Yeah, it was hard.”
I found you guys through a youtube channel called boracity magazine, and I am so glad I did! In the last 4-5 days i have watched every bts reaction video you did, and I noticed that all of your reactions are genuine and you put in a lot of effort to fully understand the songs and the meanings, keep up the great work!!!
Check out Fuji Kaze's songs 1. Shinunoga E-Wa (live version from Nippon Budokan) and 2. Matsuri (both live at Panasonic stadium and MV). He is a great Japanese musician and singer. He has nice vibe to his songs. Trust me you will love these 2 songs. You do want to miss him in your reaction journey.
About that English chorus IU, I guess some you'll find the meaning, and I kind of get where is coming from if I stay and think but in the flow of the song all I can hear is missed used English :)))
React to this please. Archie Roach was an Aboriginal singer/songwriter who recently died. Archie was born in 1956 and was part of the Stolen Generation where Aboriginal children were removed form their family and place in childrens homes where they suffered abuse or adopted to white families. This was the government policy of the time. Archie's song "Took the Children Away" which tells the story of the stolen generation and his own experiences . In 1990, Australia's Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission's awarded the song its first Human Rights Award for songwriting.
Yes, her part is very confusing. I'm not sure whether something is lost in translation. Lovely voice, but I do wish it was less disconnected as I love to sing the English parts. I'm not mastering this one, though 🤣🤣 His voice was definitely beautiful. I want to hear him sing more now.
Dimash has a new song out on his channel it’s called “Togeather” and his little brother wrote it and his little sister has a cameo.it’s out on his channel. Thank you.😊
Felt the same way on IU's lyrics - I am thinking maybe the original Korean lines was not translated well due to the measure of syllables. Because it really does not make sense.
As always a great reaction!! In his recent live he said that the song originally was named „사라“ (sara). The reason for that is: The listener has room to interpret whether the song is about love (사랑 'sarang') or people (사람 'saram'). It only depends on the ending you put after 사라 (sara). 🫶
Hi Guys ! Thank you for the amazing reaction. It would be interesting seeing you reacting to IU as a singer so I recommend you watch the Dingo killing voice feature with IU ua-cam.com/video/wDfqXR_5yyQ/v-deo.html

OOOOHHHH
I think he wrote the og People for Jimin originally (someone corrects me if I'm wrong)

possibly the chorus is one-line thoughts.
Felt the same way on IU's lyrics - I am thinking maybe the original Korean lines was not translated well due to the measure of syllables.
Because it really does not make sense.

As always a great reaction!! In his recent live he said that the song originally was named „사라“ (sara).
The reason for that is:
The listener has room to interpret whether the song is about love (사랑 'sarang') or people (사람 'saram'). It only depends on the ending you put after 사라 (sara). 🫶
Please react to All I Ask. ANGELINA JIRDON
Is it only me but did IU sound like Janet?
Of course patreon 🙄
IU hook is a double negative. almost like your talking to yourself and answering the questions
He sounded like JK because he did the guide for this song. I’m not sure though.
Hi Guys ! Thank you for the amazing reaction.
It would be interesting seeing you reacting to IU as a singer so I recommend you watch the
