400 is a beast out of the gate! I run my 500i when I know it’s going to be a long day of bigger hard wood with a bark box, 3P dogs with a 32-36” bar keep her stupid sharp, great power to weight ratio but the 400 will always be a hands down favourite do it all saw!
I run a 661-CM, 462 and a 170. 661 is a back breaker, but with a sharp chain an absolute powerhouse. The 462 is my favorite of the 3. And the 170 I basically use to delimb.
You forget letting the 500i having to idle for days so it can tune itself lol. Hated my 500i for that reason returned it and an echo 7310 ported for same price and it's a better saw
It takes 90 seconds on first start up of the day. It will run for quite a while without retuning unless you have drastic changes in temperature or elevation
It's about how you run the saw notice the winner stuck it to the dogs and let the tool work. You can always tell when they start moving their arms back n forth n shit they have zero experience
I dont know jack about stihl saws but it looked like the first saw had a dull chain that was making dust, the second saw look decent in power and a sharp chain, the third swa looked like a weak homeowners saw with a good chain. My 346 with a good chisel chain would beat any of those in that condition. I think the first saw with a real sharp chain would be the fastest.
The guy on left got no where near through the log so i don't know what he is laughing about! The guy on the right is getting all the pinch ! Reverse the order with the same saws and the result will be the guy on the right comes in last!
I was gonna say u put a lighter chain on that 291 with the right file and sharpened correctly with the rakers at .30 then it will keep up with both of those saws, I doubt she'll smoke em but definitely she'll keep up!! I love my 291 :)

Lexaneok, you run a light bar on your 500i? I put mine on a diet and bought a light bar, put the old bar on my 064av stihl.
