Do you have a blood glucose monitor? I would get one. You may find that something in your diet is keeping your blood sugar up and therefore your insulin up and that increases uptake of stuff your body shouldn’t be taking up. My experience was that black unsweetened coffee and teas sent by blood sugar sky rocketing. Once I eliminated those, everything unfavorable began to drop. Coffee and oatmeal together were stratospheric, no coffee, barely a blip on the blood sugar having oatmeal for breakfast. It’s a pain in the…to be poking your fingers all day. If you can get your doctor to prescribe a CGM go for it. A lot of insurance companies won’t cover it unless you’re an insulin dependent diabetic- ironic because that’s what you’ll likely become if you can’t get your diet correct. Good luck.

Is prescription fish oil containing EPA/DHA really that bad? I had a heart scan (CAC) and came back high at 850. Doc wants me on Lisinopril and Atorvastatin my latest blood work shows Total Cholesterol 213, Triglycerides 98, LDL 157, HDL 35, glucose 90. I weigh 184 lbs. 5'10 at 57 years old. My blood pressure average is 137/85 but at the Doc office it's usually higher 170/90-100 so I guess that helped the doc justify the need for meds but I am reluctant to start but I am considering taking fish oil at 2 grams twice a day morning and evening in an attempt to avoid having a cardiac event. I have an appointment with a cardiologist but that over is a month away. Any experience or advise with these matters is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

sivakumar, I am sorry to hear about your heart attacks. I don't have the ability to point you to a practitioner in Mumbai but you can start following the dietary advice in Wheat Belly and similar books. Stop eating ALL grains and sugar and take the supplements mentioned plus vitamin K2 which he seems to have forgotten in this video. Also do all you can to lower your stress and find peace everyday. I am wishing you well.

Recently had CT scan, 725 score! No symptoms. Had a nuclear stress test passed easily. Put me on a statin to stabilize plaque and baby aspirin. I see all this info on K2 to reduce plaque, but wouldn’t the K2 destabilize the plaque and increase the odds of a clot?

I met an attorney for the American Heart Association at a conference a little over a decade ago, and she told me that they give that "heart-check" seal away based on cholesterol and fat content. When I told her that carbs are linked to many (most?) health problems, including cardiovascular issue, she looked at me, shrugged, and said "that's just our criteria." (talk about the 1970s!)

Too much-contradicting information out there. Eat grains, don't eat grains, eat eggs, don't eat eggs, eat fatty foods, don't eat fatty foods, eat carbs, don't eat carbs, have butter, don't have butter, have coconut oil, don't have coconut oil, have olive oil, don't have olive oil, eat one meal a day, eat 3-4 meals a day, eat lots of fruit, don't eat lots of fruit, shall I go on, we're told one thing after another and told differently and contradicting things of what causes diseases. If cholesterol, sugars, and fats etc were so bad for us then, why are there hugely fat people walking around? Even fat people in wheelchairs who obviously never exercise neither do they seem to be able to? People who have been in wheelchairs practically all their lives and haven't been active, none of it makes any sense. My dad smoked like a chimney and hardly was active and the last 5 yrs of his life he was chair bound and eventually bed bound yet he lived to be 86 yrs old. Clearly, something else is going on that perhaps hasn't been discovered yet. Perhaps if my dad did not smoke and was more active he may not have been bed bound and perhaps he would have lived to be 100 years old but even still he lived to be 86 yet my mother in law who gave up smoking many years ago and was active throughout her old age didn't outlive him she also lived to be 86. Anyone heard of nanobacteria, now were been told this, check it out. science Behind Nanobacteria and Calcification of Arteries. ua-cam.com/video/N2i9ktVngtY/v-deo.html. It seems to me that no one really knows fully yet what is best but I guess there's at least enough evidence to suggest healthy living and exercise is the best way, so eat drink be merry so long as we eat, drink healthily and exercise a little.

I agree. Some of it is still common sense. The fatty side of a ribeye can't be ok for us to consume. I can't believe that. Veges and lean meat without sugar and grains is reasonable. Fruit is not good for us. Medicine is a mess right now imo. What to believe anymore? Drs. Wont be honest and tell us what we need to do. Take these and carry on.

A good diet will increase health span, not just life span. Spending the last years of your life in a wheelchair is proof of very little. Ignore all of the modern noise and eat an ancestral diet - low carb, high protein, high fat, drink only water or tea/coffee and increase supplements due to our depleted soils and water. Also, the average hunter gather walks 10 miles a day, or 20,000 steps and was moving in a lot of other ways, they also fasted between hunts for 2mm years. It’s not that we do not know, it is because we live in a modern (automated) age, move less and eat a diet that is high in carbs, seed oils and processed foods.
