I know someday you’ll have a beautiful life, I know you’ll be a star, in somebody’s else’s sky, but why, why, why can’t it be, can’t it be in mine. Beautiful painful poetry!
I LOVE that "Not An industry Artist" let the song play from start to finish without constant interruptions. We could see he was enjoying the performance as much as we were, saving his comments until after the performance.
The entire song is a metaphor of the relationship between the Sun and the Earth. The Earth requires the Sun. The Sun will be just fine without the Earth For me it's a cautionary tale of making someone the center of your universe unless they view the same way.
This song hits hard emotionally, you really feel the pain. Love Pearl Jam and this live from MTV was a classic. Great reaction, plenty more Pearl Jam songs to check out incl Jeremy, Even Flow, Yellow Ledbetter, Better Man, Alive, Porch, Daughter etc.
The most amazing thing about this video is that Ed remained seated through the entire song! I've been to many live shows, mostly in the 90's and if there was something to climb, it was getting climbed. I thought for sure one of those climbs were going to be his last. The irony of it all is he's the only "grunge" front man still alive.
I remember reading that mtv required that the performers remain seated. Which is why it was so funny in another song they did during this when he stood on the stool and "accidentally" fell off so he could stand and move 😂 bc like you said he was always a mover and a climber.
Sometimes it's hard to understand what Eddie is singing. But this always comes through loud and clear. I know someday you'll have a beautiful life I know you'll be a star In somebody else's sky But why Why Why can't it be Oh can't it be mine All the songs in the MTV performance are off their debut album Ten in 1991. It's an acoustic. set so doesn't really show their energy as much. It depends on how you want to experience Pearl Jam. I prefer live performances. They put on a great show, still going after 30 years.
Playing with passion. One of my many favorites! I know someday you'll have a beautiful life I know you'll be a star in somebody else's sky, but why Why, why can't it be, oh, can't it be mine? One of the best lines ever written...IMHO!
Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, Nirvana, Collective Soul, Temple of the Dog, Soundgarden ... some good heavy rock / grunge in this period. For a 80's rock predecessor to grunge, try Queensryche. Some top notch male vocalists in this group.
You should do Alice In Chains - “down in a hole” or “nutshell” from their mtv unplugged performance. It’s very emotional just like this performance. Great reaction!
The ending where he's shaking his head isnt part of the actual song. thats how emotional this was. very important song to Eddie Vedder (singer) im one to always suggest the studio version of a song but this is one song where i tell people to check the MTV Unplugged one. Check out •Matisyahu - "King Without A Crown" (Live at Stubb's) •The Beatles - "Don't Let Me Down" (rooftop concert) •Santana - "Soul Sacrifice" (Woodstock 1969)
😲 We had no idea how popular these "MTV Unplugged Shows" would become! 🤯 None!!! 🤔 Eddie was sick that night. 🤭 Fell off the stool on LIVE TV. 🤗 But he was amazing as always! 🥰🐰
Actually, it’s widely thought that Eddie didn’t really fall off the stool during “Porch”. MTV had a strict rule, in it’s contract, that everyone had to stay seated during their entire performance. Ed’s “falling” got him conveniently out of his seat, and once Jeff saw him up, he then got up. The rest is history. They may have broken their contract, but it was well worth it. 😉
@@maggieshevelew7579 🤷🏿♀️ Not like he wasn't warned. 🤭 Exactly why I was glad I only dealt with finances. 🤣 I'd get calls before certain groups performed asking if their Union Dues was up to date in case anybody got injured. Had to constantly explain we won't pay if injury is "self inflicted" 🤔 which was different from when Dave from Foo Fighters fell off the stage & did the rest of the Tour from a wheelchair! 🤦🏿♀️ I literally held my breath everytime PJ, Nirvana, STP, Chilli Peppers or Janes Addiction played. 😏 However I did get to see A LOT of shows I couldn't afford if it wasn't for my job! 😉🐰
He mixed up the lyrics in this performance. He sang the first line of the second chorus the first time around for the third line of the first chorus. He said "And now my bitter hands, cradle broken glass." Should've been "And now my bitter hands chafe beneath the clouds." I don't think I've ever heard him mix the words up before, lending credence to him not feeling well.
One of the all-time great performances ever! I get emotional every time I watch it, without fail. Another all-time great performance for me is this jam by Matt Corby called Trick of The Light, this dude can do it all, I’m convinced. It’s one you would love and would be a great react! ua-cam.com/video/ECwGFSuY1nQ/v-deo.html
Please make areaction video on "Slaves and Buldozers" by Soundgarden. Soundgarden is like parent band to every grunge band and Eddie is very much influenced By Chris Cornell(IMO the greatest Rock Singer, ever), who was like an elder brother to him. I miss Chris every day, he was one of a kind.
Love this version of this song, can u PLEASE check out “Release and Yellow Ledbetter” by Pearl Jam as well?!!!! Love ur channel, thanks for all ur hard work and entertainment!!! 😊❤

Definately right! Great song, and serious vocalist and song writer!
Check out a song from their newer album called Comes then goes. ✌️
Such a beautiful song...
You can’t go wrong with ANYTHING from this performance. Close your eyes and point at something and I promise you will be impressed.
Eddie’s the Man
Tnx! One of all-time favorites. Subscribed!
This song hits home every time I hear it. So much emotion. So powerful.. Whew... Great reaction bro.
For like 10 years Eddie killed himself on stage during every performance. The goat!

Thank you! And thank you for holding your comments till the song had ended 🙂
