    It took me a minute to appreciate TZ but after a while it clicked and it got me. I have to admit, I’m here for the ride and I so far I love everything they have done. Certified bias fanboy I guess. Lol
    I hear you about how they should have used a different name when doing the ambient stuff. But it seems they do see a bridge between the two genres that
    Is really interesting when done right. And it seems they are doing that and it will prolly open up a lot of people eyes in terms of what music they enjoy. I’m here for it babayyy

      It’s not so much when people love all of their work that makes it biased for me. It’s more the fact that when the smallest bit of pretty standard Blood Incantation Death Metal is added to an ambient release, suddenly it’s the greatest thing of the year despite it predominantly being comprised of the very thing that many have previously trashed. It makes very little sense to me.
      I’ve enjoyed everything so far too, but I don’t mind the ambient stuff, and I really dig it when it’s mixed with the Death Metal. I’m here for it as well provided they continue to utilise both to one another’s strengths.

    I’m definitely interested in checking this out. I really enjoyed Starspawn and Hidden History of the Human Race. Have yet to check out Timewave Zero.
    On another note, George Fisher has explicitly stated that Cannibal Corpse will never do a ballad. 😂

    To me this feels like a tie over and a tease into a full fledged melding of these two sounds on a full length.

      Yeah agreed, and I’m here for that to be honest. Just so long as the Death Metal isn’t fully neglected.

    Definitely review Moonlight Sorcery debut album. It might end up taking my top spot for my year end list. None of my favourite UA-camrs have reviewed this thing yet but understandable when there was some big releases last week.

    They have a split with Spectral Voice? Never knew that. Probably because I never saw it on Spotify.
    Personally, I love this band. Even though I'm not a huge fan of their last ambient album, it certainly proves how talented and diverse they are as musicians, which makes me appreciate them more.
    Being able to combine ambience with death metal, in their latest release, was perfectly blended, in my opinion. The way the combined both the genres was just beautiful. The second track on Luminescent Bridge was also much better than any of the songs from Timewave Zero.
    Also, I don't think this is their only release for this year. I think they're working on a proper death metal album too, which I hope is released this year.

    • @Altars_of_Mattness
      @Altars_of_Mattness  Рік тому

      They do indeed, they brought out a split 7” with them in 2015 or ‘16 (I’m rubbish with dates).
      I find that a little strange, to me, if I don’t enjoy a piece of music because it’s droning, simplistic and repetitive, it doesn’t tell me they’re talented as much as it tells me they have other interests that don’t impress me if that makes sense? I personally didn’t mind the ambient album, and I agree that this is a step up, but I think it’s because they’ve added in the elements such as drums and guitars, the very things people want to hear from the Death Metal. Also, it works because it’s mixed with the tiny amount of fairly standard Death Metal that we’ve heard them do before. Is that all it takes to qualify as one of the best DM releases of the year, or is it just the fact that it has the name ‘Blood Incantation’ on it? If they indulged in a solo ambient venture, would you still buy it?
      Not having a go by the way, I’m genuinely curious and completely confused 🤣

    • @fuad6280
      @fuad6280 Рік тому

      @Altars_of_Mattness Definitely not the best DM release of the year, especially because it's only one DM song. 😂
      And no, I wouldn't care for them if they started a solo ambient venture.
      I guess it really just boils down to personal preference. Music taste is obviously subjective. But I get your point. Blood Incantation do have a lot of hype just based on their existence, but credit where due, their previous albums were fantastic, which is why they have so much hype around them. I'm not a fan of the ambient stuff alone either, but personally, I liked the way the combined DM and ambience with Obliquity of the Ecliptic.
      I didn't mean to criticise your opinion either, just wanted to share mine, hahaha

      It’s just something I came out with on the Tomb Mold review vid. The 5 bands that make the world stop when they announce new music: Outer Heaven, Faceless Burial, Spectral Voice, Tomb Mold, Blood Incantation. Though Gatecreeper could probably be thrown in there as well.

    Being selfish, as a fan, just wish they would can the ambient stuff. Time wave zero, a dud for me. More on this. IMO these guys have not been around long enough to take fans for granted. Record company must be unhappy.

      @@BassRocker617 doesn’t mean it was any good. Bore fest for me. My guess is people pre ordered or bought on the strength of the first two. Sure way to lose your DM fans.

    • @Altars_of_Mattness
      @Altars_of_Mattness  Рік тому +1

      @@BassRocker617 I’m not sure the sales of Timewave Zero is a fair representation of how many people actually want more ambient to be honest. I’d be very surprised if the vast majority of those sales didn’t come from people blind buying it and assuming it was another Death Metal record. There were a tonne of unhappy customers whinging about the album on social media after they bought it.

    • @Altars_of_Mattness
      @Altars_of_Mattness  Рік тому

      As I said in the vid, a band can go where they like in terms of artistic direction. That said, I also think they know that they won’t get as big a record deal, and won’t have as many ‘ready made’ fans (granted fully earned through their Death Metal) as the Blood Incantation name if they went and did a side ambient project, so they’ve opted to do it with BI, and I find that a little self-destructive.
      However, despite that, it’s not the band that I find convoluted as much as some of the fans who shit themselves because they heard three mins of Death Metal at the expense of the other 80% of the album, which is the ambient they ‘hated’ that improves the efficacy of the pretty standard Death Metal on this new single. Like, which is it? Do you like it, or don’t you?

  • @ceannairereibiliunach8133

    The most overrated Death Metal band ever i just don't get the love for them .

    • @Altars_of_Mattness
      @Altars_of_Mattness  Рік тому

      The love that this one is getting for the 3 minutes or whatever of Death Metal despite the majority of it being the ambient everyone whinged about makes me inclined to agree with you to an extent. They could make a 50 minute reggae album with 10 minutes of Death Metal at this point and people would still shit their pants over it. I see a tonne of blind love for them regardless of what they do without any proper thought.
      That said, I do like them and I do enjoy the ambient to an extent, so I can’t bash the band for what they’re doing. Just the fan base confuses me a tonne.

      I thought Hidden History of the Human Race was great (not heard this one yet). I think The Giza Power Plant is the song to start to appreciate how good they are. Technical death metal, progressive death metal, atmospheric cavernous sound, psych-space metal and crushing doom metal all in one song.

    • @Altars_of_Mattness
      @Altars_of_Mattness  Рік тому +1

      @@jimmycampbell78 I thought it was very good, but not great. In comparison to Starspawn I felt a little let down by the production. The 19-minute closer also felt a little repetitive at times, but I don’t even remotely dislike it.
      This one is great as well, and frankly I prefer it to anything on ‘Hidden History…’, however fans and critics alike, most of whom shit all over ‘Timewave Zero’ have baffled the shit out of me by saying this one is amazing just because of the minute amount of Death Metal involved. Maybe I’m just grumpy, but it seems very zombie-like or robotic 🤣
