  • I sat down with Blood Incantation's Paul and Morris to understand what prompted them to release an ambient LP and found out just how far back to the coexistence of ambient truly goes with this phenomenal band. Subscribe to my channel : bit.ly/SubscribeTMT

I couldn't agree more! He really is a lovely, lovely bloke and Morris is a great dude as well. I love BI and really enjoy what they're doing for the world of Metal. You can tell that they are all incredibly intelligent and very well read guys. It was a real pleasure speaking to them. I hope you're still enjoying the content on here! Thanks ever so much for checking the video out :)

It really is quite something isn't it. I always feel that there's a higher being going on whenever I really delve into the writings and some of the themes that Blood Incantation expand upon you know? It's really something. Thanks for checking the interview out and I hope you enjoyed it!

I love their death metal but I like the ambient stuff Paul has done even more. Especially his early stuff under Klangwald Produktionen like Moonwalker, Extraterrestrial and Kerker. People who can’t appreciate what they are trying to do with timewave zero clearly aren’t musicians themselves and just want to head bang and drink

I had the fortuna to attend two Blood Incantation concerts within a month this year: Wacken 2022, and Candelabrum in León, México. Great performances and I look forward to enjoy Timewave zero tour

i absolutly not into death metal vibes(however respect it) but when i discover this band with time wave zero i reminded the virgin years period from tangerine dream with atem phaedra rubicon and stratosfear which is for me their best efforts ...it's a proof that musicians from death metal are open and search for evolution and experimentation in different styles blood incantation did it brilliantly i recently heard a show from time wave zero and it's even better than the record ...can't wait for another one ...

I really wish they would release new spectral voice material, hopefully a new album. In a way, i think, it was encapsulating already their ambient work with the cosmic horrors of Blood Incantation. Don't get me wrong. I am also stoked for the next Blood Incantation show. There are just great musicians and people.

Hey there Evan, thanks so much for the kind words! You know I have to say, I think that it's one of mine as well. It was funny after chatting with the guys it made me think, I do exactly the same as some of these people that reached out to them. I sit down with Timewave and just zone out. It's literally the best medicine for it, really and that's why I think this is going to be one of my favourite records of the year for sure. Thanks for taking the time to watch the video and can I also recommend a band called Genghis Tron, if you've not heard of them already before? Fantastic artists!

Hey there Pepe, thank you so much my friend! I’m so glad that you enjoyed the chat so much. It sounds like you had an amazing time at the show though! Maddeningly I still haven’t been able to catch the band yet live. I started working with them in 2019 then we had COVID. Craziness. What else have you been enjoying so far this year? Thanks for checking out the video man!

  • @Luemm3l

admittedly I was not a big fan of Timewave Zero. it works as a tribute, but I think the pioneers made the music in a more interesting way even 50 years ago. But I will thank these guys for turning me on to a genre I paid no attention to before whatsoever and also re-kindled my love to learn more about recording techniques, history, certain (music)scenes from before my time. I am a 90s kid, this music happend 20 years before I was born. But this free expression, experimentation, coupled with political agency might be more important than ever in a algorithm-based, Tik-Tok obsessed culture scene today, where everything is so streamlined, "diverse" and plain boring at the end of the day that I fear we already live in a consumer-dystopia that gives us the illusion of choice, but rather makes everything the same. You can see that also in the metal scene to a certain extent. Look at the video production that gets more professional, the logos, the songs, it all gets kinda samey, i.e. in Deathcore, but also Black Metal or what have you. Stuff like early Candlemass or Immortal with the goofy videos are so "cult" today precisely because they are shitty and the people back in time did not have these opportunities, but they had something a lot of artists lack today: vision, creativity, spontaneous minds. they lived "in the moment" and did not think about what video producer to use or that they have to also use down-tuned 8-strings and have some symphonic elements thrown in because everyone does that nowadays. Don't get me wrong, I love my Shadow Of Intent and Lorna Shore, but there is no denying there is a formula there that gets coupled by younger bands as well to hop unto that train. sometimes successful, often times not. But where are the new Voivod? Where is a new band like Animals As Leaders? A new Slayer, a new Opeth? Such bands are far and few inbetween, you can find them, but usually they are found and stay in the underground.

Hahaha hell yes! That's what you want, as he says, it's when all the juices get flowing! Those really are some of the best interviews that you can do because then you really get to chat about this kind of stuff but you've got a bit of a foundation built up already from the previous 30 minutes or so. Thanks so much for checking out the interview though, I've also got interviews planned for Malevolence, Decapitated and have recorded an interview with Undeath as well so keep your eyes peeled!

Hey there Ryan! Ah thanks so much and so glad that you enjoyed the interview, this one really went out there but I have to say that's one of the things that I love with interviews is that you never truly know exactly where you might be going. Timewave is such a great record though eh? I can't wait to see how they assimilate this into their sound for the next one :)

You have to appreciate the intelligence of these guys, especially Paul. And anytime someone calls out the toxic masculine, "machismo" bullshit in any metal sub genre, I'm in. It needs to be called out more often, and of course those apes aren't into this kind of artistic pivot. Smart music isn't for dumb people - go figure.
