I've thought about this for a while and here is (in my opinion) why your channel is so popular; 1) You brought back and put a fresh take on something from our childhoods when we were all Younglings. That in itself is a total win. 2) Your personality on screen and the way you interact on social media makes it feel like you're just hanging out with a lifelong friend even though the majority of us have never met you in person. It's always fun talking to someone that shares a common passion. I thoroughly enjoy your channel, our chats and all the new things I've learned about figures during your journey. That brings me to my final observation. When your complete this run, is that when you graduate from a Padawan to a Jedi Knight? Maybe I'm just enjoying being in the moment watching your videos. Congrats on the 90! You touched on something there about the experience of getting to touch the figure. Back in the 90s I was an inbox collector only but I missed getting to touch or “play” with the figures. Now I open most of them and I really like that experience better. Especially putting them in my Slave 1 and Razor Crest!

Sand Person of course. This was the episode I had been look forward to forever. And it did not disappoint. 80/85 is definitely what you're shooting for. Above that is super tough. I hope you do get to speak to a CAS Grader and do an episode on what they look for when grading and the difference between an 80 and an 85 or a 90 and a 95 👍
Hey HST! I have spoken briefly to a representative, and the main differences in the 80-85 is visible abrasions in the plastic, paint, or accessory that aren't visible on first glance but visible when looked at with the eye close up. The 85-90 happens on closer examination with the aid of a lens. Then the 95 and up and basically factory fresh examples that have zero flaws recognizable with all aids. But I have yet to do a full deep dive interview to get the real process.

I've been watching since the beginning and this has been a great adventure and after you done the entire run you can't just stop there. He got a lot of great gifts there and you should get those covid-19 test graded. Those might be a collector's item one day haha.

All my figures are graded 100 by me. Even the beaters. 🤣😂🤣. I’d be super disappointed, if I got a score lower than I was anticipating. Great to see the process and the journey involved though. Being without something for 7 months is a long time! Glad the training ball arm arrived safely 👍🏽.

Don’t spend the whole time with the camera on. Capture what you need, then put the camera away and just experience the convention and enjoy yourself. I have a submission I sent to AFA, it's been almost 6 months now and they have not shipped back yet. I was considering going with CAS for my next batch of submissions because I though 'this is taking FOREVER', but it sounds like no matter where you go, it's going to be a very long wait.

Great video. Thanx for showing them off after getting these back. (plus thanx again for the shout) I always thought the Sand Person title pill came first -but wasn’t it written as Sand People? heheh
Love that Leia. Great grade. I think the overspray on the bum might take a whole point away. So 100 down to 90 straight away. then the minor flaws reduce it a minor point for each flaw. So that’s probably how it got down to 80.
The Sand People that’s an 85, I’m a little baffled based on looking at it on the video. If there is no major flaw that takes a whole major point away bring it from 100 down to 90 straight off, then the minor flaws are just one by one. So even if it had 10 minor flaws, that would be a 90. so an 85 means they found at least 15 minor flaws. I’d have to see it in person to find those 15 minor flaws.
The Dianoga. Again, a 90 means there are at least 10 minor flaws in the figure. I bet you can’t find 10 flaws in that. Sometimes they take things down to a 95 or so just cause they can’t see themselves giving a high grade on things. That’s why I question a lot of action figure grading. I almost think they just arbitrarily start with a 95 or so and work from there rather than work from a true 100.
I know how to grade comics. I did that myself for probably 6-7 years grading comics for comic shops in the early 90’s but I’ve never graded an action figure and I really don’t understand it cause like you, I would think that Sand People and the Dianoga would have been higher if you start at 100. So I guess that’s something we still have to learn -what counts as a flaw worth taking a minor point off for??
(and I got my free Covid tests the other day also. heheh)
I wish you lived by me so I could show the figures to you BEFORE I sent them in haha. I was talking to ms Padawan about moving to FL someday so there’s that possibility. Then I can blame you when I get bad grades lol. I’m about to binge watch some of your vids and relax! I rewatched your transformers doc last week. It still is one of my favorite documentaries bro

There are a lot of guys we met on this toy community that i would love to be able to hang out with and grab a drink and talk toys. you are one of them at the top of the list also. so thanx for that. I wish I was able to get to ICCC this year, but I just don’t want to be so far away with my brother in the situation he is in. I’ve been spending most weekends with him. That weekend he has a scan in Tampa and we will be there getting the new scan and then results. We need good news. So I want to be there that weekend with him.
You’ll get to meet Joey and Nilda so they’ll send my fun vibes through proxy. heheh. I might ask them to get an autograph 8X10 for me of The Emperor.
Great video Joey. After pausing the video and looking at the Leia I see a few reasons she didn't get an 85 grade. Inner right thigh, upper right leg, the crotch has a few spots, left eye is painted smaller than the right and the spots you mentioned. Still an awesome figure, one of my favorites. I noticed that your display is lit. What kind of lights and will they fade the figures? Also, I see that you use CAS for grading. Is there some reason you use CAS instead of AFA?
It’s an LED strip. You should never keep lights on for long periods of time around any figures so I only keep them on when I’m shooting or show guests the studio.
I have never graded any figure. I will so in the future.

Have you ever heard of a 1977 Darth Vader blue light saber variant ? I have one but have no info on it. Thanks for the info ima be sending in plenty to CAS was the price all the same for the grading ?

Do you know a way to get rid of paint, pen marks in case you don’t and also the Dianoga trash monster is even more rare because Palitoy the British company of the Star Wars figures at the time didn’t include it with there Death Star which is cardboard.
I didn’t know that palatoy didn’t include it in their version! I still need to learn about the Palitoy versions of the playsets! I have heard several ways of getting rid of pen marks including “goo be gone” isopropyl alcohol, and other cleaners but I may do a show about it and try different products. Just recently sent off my 1st figure to CAS to get graded. One question I have is when does CAS charge u? Do they email you and let u know ahead of time or is it just random. Thanks I’m advance for any answers
I usually pay up from as I ship them to the grading company. You can do that thru your account. I would call them directly to answer any specific questions thoigh. They are usually responsive

I just purchased a George Lucas stormtrooper black series with it being a new figure would you suggest I get it graded?
That’s entirely up to you my friend! If you want to keep it preserved and not get it graded you can get a nice acrylic case for it, but if you want to have this as an investment piece, then gradin would be the way to go. Thanks for watching Jason!
Hello, I have a question. I have a lili ledy star wars darth vader action figure i want to get graded. I have checked all the pics on imperial gunnery and i think everything checks out. If i sent this to CAS, and they decided it was not a lili ledy, would they grade it as a normal vader? Thanks!

I know, I was being nice about semantics :). I usually say it both ways but you are right, the technical and correct term is sand people.
I don’t care about grading. I collect because I open the figs to display and enjoy. This is why ppl can’t buy or collect the stuff they want. The higher the grade, the more idiotic expensive they become.

Why would you get a toy graded? The point is to play with them, I still do.
Hey Eric! I give reasons for grading in episodes 38 and 39, so if you want various reasons why some collectors would, watch that. I am doing a loose collection which fulfills what you are talking about, playing with them and touching them. I am also collecting a full graded run to fulfill another aspect of what I like about collecting, trying to find the most pristine figures from the past, researching the accessories, then sending them in for a grade to preserve them. I agree that grading isn’t for everyone, so if you are on the fence or against it, it’s always good to get a perspective on why some people do like it. So watch episodes 38 and 39 to gain that perspective :). Thanks for watching my friend! And I hope all is well
