Perfect rifle! Until gen 3, or gen 2.01 or the next recall, or the next rolling improvement. . . Very cool gun, don't get me wrong, but I, for one, don't like being marketed to like I'm a child. Nothing is perfect. How about a frank and honest discussion of what the gun does, why its benefits make it more attractive than its competitors, and a company that will stand by its product?
agree. they fixed the trigger and access to the suppressor switch. The MCX design is great, few areas for improvement, and I like mine, but this is just an upgrade.
William Sack Right? This video did nothing to support the initial claim that it's, in fact, "not an AR15." He goes on to explain the features that make it exactly like an AR15. Sig wasted resources making this video. I certainly don't feel any more compelled to purchase it after watching.
He sounds like he's advertising for Hi-point. Open the rifle to show the recoil system, new trigger and BCG. Explain the compatible parts between the original and new MCX.
Bought this rifle back in October. Accuracy sucked with 4+" groups at 50 yards. Light primer strikes and failed to lock back on some Pmags. Sent it right back to Sig. They replaced the complete upper and BCG. Now shooting in the 1.5" - 2" range at 50 yards. Going to run it through some more testing to see if it continues to function correctly and try to find the ammo it likes best. Not a ringing endorsement yet. Will see how it works out over time. Really like the folding stock. Upgraded the trigger to a Geissle MCX trigger and like it much better than the stock trigger. It is a nice rifle but definitely not a perfect rifle.
This and Brownell's BRN-180 is about the closest we'll get to a modern AR18. I kinda prefer yours more, just because you guys actually have modifications to the lower reciever to allow automatic use.
I've been perfectly content with my MCX. It is a tack driver. I bought it to replace a 516 pistol that I couldn't fire with stock folded. I hate buffer tubes. My trigger is smooth, maybe it just took a few thousand rounds to break in the stock trigger. After hearing all the complaints about it, and the accolades on upgraded triggers, I'm tempted to try a new trigger. I also shoot with a Sig suppressor: SRD762 TiQD. I am totally impressed with how well it suppresses .223 rounds, but I have to say you need goggles; it does spit power back a lot. Anyhow, this has to be my favorite SBR. I can't imagine how much better it would be if Sig came through with the 762 x 39 barrel kit. That spiel was false advertisement. A Class Action suit should be organized.
I've procured a few of sig's offerings over the past couple years: a 516p, mpx, post recall mcx, rattler and 16" virtus upper. Maybe I just got lucky but they all function flawlessly and run like a Clydesdale that just took a cattle prod to the t'aint. My personal experience w/ sig has been quite positive, which is more than I can say for some other manufacturers. Just sayin'...
Ahhhh... M-LOK handguards! I purchased my MCX this spring and it is, by far, THE BEST 5.56 rifle I've ever owned and shot. I'M LOVING IT! Too bad I only got the 2nd gen with Key-Mod handguard, but still, pretty damn cool!
Lukáš Duběda DoD has pretty much declared mlok the winner, with that keymod will slowly die. Mlok was found by DoD to be more durable, and holds zero and accessories better. Hence this new foreend from sig.
Perfect rifle, really cool. Hey SIG, you know what would be perfect and really cool, sending that trigger to all of us that have the MCX with the piece of shit trigger you originally put out.
I couldn't agree with you more. I purchased a Wilson Combat TTU trigger for mine, then came the MCX recall, and I had to go back to the crappy POS factory trigger. Still waiting on the Fake News 7.62x39 barrel kit. so what does SIG do? Introduces a replacement rifle while current MCX owners can just take a hike! Sig's reputation for this kind of thing seems never ending.
Perfectly said, had a Giessele 2 stage before the recall, now my perfectly good/expensive trigger upgrade is useless. Couldn't have said it better myself.
Have the MCX and only put two mags full through it, 60 rounds, before the recall. I had first to install a Geissele SSA-E trigger because I agree with Joe Jr., the factory trigger was the single worst trigger I'd ever pulled, 10 lbs-14 ozs., and felt like gravel. My kids pop gun had a better trigger. So off it went to SIG without the sweet Geissele trigger in it and note telling them of my disgust with their trigger. SIG did the BCG upgrade for the Geissele AND gave me their new 2-stage trigger with appropriate part for the BCG AND gave me a $50.00 gift certificate for their web store. The store didn't have much for me and what they had was way over-priced. I was patient and when a sale came along I got 5 of their SIG polymer 30 round mags for $10.00 each. My recall experience with SIG went very well.
Gunwrites - I didn't know there was a part for the new BCG to make it compatible with the G2S trigger. I thought the incompatibility was due to the shape of the hammer not releasing the firing pin safety. Do you remember what the part they gave you was called? Also thanks for the suggestion, I will look into this.
"Fully functional folded up. That is very unique!" Yea, unless you've heard of the AK-47, Robinson Arms XCR, FN SCAR, or any other piston gun where the action is located above the barrel instead of behind it. I love the gun, Sig Sauer, but please don't pretend I know nothing about guns.
The gun is well made, decent trigger, accurate and fairly low recoil because of the weight of the front end. HOWEVER while the folding stock is nice, its very lightweight and because of the massive front end specifically the handguard it makes the gun very front heavy. Another issue is because the weapon is so front heavy, I began the get pretty fatigued in my arms while using it for a sustained amount of time. Also, the charging handle for whatever reason (most likely from the dual piston springs) is pretty stiff and requires a lot more strength to pull back than a standard ar15. Also, because the weapon is so front heavy, when you go to charge the rifle you will almost certainly have to tuck the weapon under your arm to charge it. Same goes for reloading, when doing reloads without it tucked under my arm the front end would dip and cause me to have to then hold the gun at an angle to get my next mag in. Cleaning is pretty similar to an ar15 but the gun runs a lot cleaner because of the piston. Just be careful with your bolt because with the guns we used there was some kind of tiny retaining pin for the firing pin that could literally just fall out if you tilted it sideways on a few of the guns, and apparently without this pin, everything would look fine on the gun but when you went to fire it the firing pin would never actually protrude to fire a round. Something nice about the ones we use though was whatever finish they used one it looked pretty nice and had some sort of oil absortion properties which was pretty cool to see. All in all its an alright firearm, but not something I would recommend unless you want something expensive and unique in your collection. If a regular old rifle is what your looking for I would avoid this and maybe look at getting a brownells BRN 180 piston upper if you’re looking for a cheaper but arguable better upper/rifle than this one. Plus it fits on any regular lower and still maintains a buffer tube for your standard AR stocks but also supports side folders
i was an early adopter of the MCX and my trigger is complete garbage. function of the rifle is great. Just one more example of how being an early adopter always screws the customer.
AR triggers won't hold up to the ware the system puts out. might eventually break off a standard AR trigger hammers, decent amount of coverage on this issue actually.
eric cook Geissele makes a trigger specifically for the MCX, also does it matter which gen bolt carriage group you have, I still heave the original, I don't want to do the recall.
it does matter what gen bolt you have. but i will tell you i did the recall its super fast and professional - also i hear mechanically its a better bolt (i'm not an engineer) but i can say the function makes sense. Geissele's trigger just went live this week, i've been waiting awhile for it. Honestly my complaints from early adopting are the trigger and lack of accessories - both these are now non-issues just cost lots $$$

They have done a .308 MCX before which is the SIG MCX-MR to compete the CSASS contract, however it was unsuccessful, and SIG moved on to the NGSW contract instead with its MCX Spear firing 6.8x51 SIG.
Lol, the perfect rifle. Um no, no such ting. However, this is one hell of a fine rifle and I regret not buying one in the pre-COVID era. WTF was I thinking?
shot an mcx few weeks ago. was amazing, trigger did feel great and gun felt very soft to shoot. But yea this video is..meh. BTW Mr. Presenter, there's a word for "somewhat transparent" - translucent.
I'm not quick to call anything perfect. However, after seeing and feeling its abilityand functionality, I would say it is a complete system. No need for trigger upgrade. Its gas system majes it easy transition from loud to quiet. After firing Direct Impingement rifles(M16 family), i have grown to HATE the DI rifles. Im a gas piston fan for life. I would encourage any critic of the weapon to give it a shot. Pun intended

I have a noveske and a LWRCI rifle for my 5.56 needs with plenty of miles, they dont have folding stocks but they also go bang everytime and have great customer support.
They got the modular pistol down, but what about a modular rifle? The 556xi has problems.
Im here after codm added it to the game
You should try one is 7.62 nato I think that could work really well
They have done a .308 MCX before which is the SIG MCX-MR to compete the CSASS contract, however it was unsuccessful, and SIG moved on to the NGSW contract instead with its MCX Spear firing 6.8x51 SIG.
I love it. I prefer the m Lok
Love this rifle but only thing holding me back is the lack of bolt lock/release on the right side for us lefties
Nice video.....but how's the trigger?
When is it hitting the market?
Best gun in 2023 for me
Lol, the perfect rifle. Um no, no such ting. However, this is one hell of a fine rifle and I regret not buying one in the pre-COVID era. WTF was I thinking?
I love this rifle. Can you use a POF-USA E-squared extractor?
March 9th ... Ukraine special forces seems to love this rifle 😎
shot an mcx few weeks ago. was amazing, trigger did feel great and gun felt very soft to shoot. But yea this video is..meh. BTW Mr. Presenter, there's a word for "somewhat transparent" - translucent.
Nice rifle! Did you guys get the issues fixed because the non-buffer tube earlier models had some problems?
There was no issue with the dual recoil system.
this is the M13 from modern warfare warzone with weapon level 56 extended barrel
And if you act now we will also toss in a Sig P320 that goes bang when you don't pull the trigger.
So what happened to the 7.62 variant of this rifle? Also will you be make a 6.5 variant so we have more options for this rifle as well?
Great presenter.
Sig advertises the ease of swapping barrels but I can’t find barrels for this gun or the rattler anywhere. ??????????????
Why was the 8" barrel MPX discontinued.
Bravo six . . . Going dark
Is the Virtus trigger compatible with the original MCX?
It is not.
I thought we didnt do salesman shit like this in the gun industry.
I like it.
