- “People appreciate the talent of people who play this kind of music. It’s not easy, you know. It’s a live experience and it’s fun for everybody. It’s kind of like Disneyland for metalheads.”
Exodus hit Europe with Obituary, Prong and King Parrot and we had the great pleasure to meet again with the legendary Tom Hunting. The discussion touched upon how hard it is today to keep music secret before it comes out, the beauty of vinyl, appreciation of talent on-stage, and why being a traveling t-shirt salesman can be a good thing. Enjoy this talk with Tom, one of the most legendary heavy metal drummers in history.
Tom Hunting is a great drummer.
Been a fan since bonded by blood.
Thats a long time.
NO 1 Tom Drum part:
Like father like son!
Play drums myself, and Tom is a huge role model.
Tom such a great guy , talked to him outside the Irving plaza, during the metal allegiance tour with anthrax back 2013.
Love Tom! He's so humble & amazing! 😍😍😍
killer drummer...cool guy...
+Dimitris dm Completey agree 👍 /Sebi
One of the best metal drummers.
+SepticSchizo955 Agreed. /Sebi
thank you sir for interviewing tom hunting. thank you.
+Exodus Attack It's always a pleasure and an honor meeting the great people of Exodus. Thank you for giving us the opportunity! /Sebastiano
Straight forward dude, I love the way you present your questions and round up material. You keep the interview pleasant while getting the mindset of the individual you're talking to. My particular favorite was Tony Kakko but this was fantastic, I hope in the future you can get an interview with Hansi Kursch of Blind Guardian
+George “The Mighty Mastodon” Grundstrom Thanks a bunch for watching and for the very kind words, George. Yes, Tom is very straightforward and always great to talk to. The interview with Tony Kakko was another great experience for me - such a great artist. And, great answers from Tony gave me the perfect foundation for deep-diving into the subject. Sure, I'd love to talk to Hansi Kursch. Will ask next time they come to Switzerland. Cheers mate!
Tom is a great guy !
Really great interview! Can't wait for the next Exodus album!!! A lot of great albums came out this year, next year should be awesome as well if Exodus would release an album in 2017 that would be killer because Overkill and Kreator are releasing they're new albums next year! Those 3 could make a damn good tour all together! :D
Thanks a ton for watching and commenting! Yeah, I’m looking forward to the new records of Exodus, Kreator and Overkill, too. Hope someone sees your comment and can convince the three bands to hook up and tour together. That’d be such an iconic tour!! :D Cheers /Sebi
Exodus (with Gary) with Overkill would be a dream concert for me.
dkyelak Sounds like a great match for sure! /Sebi
Yeah! If I would ever have the chance to go to an Exodus show the one person that I would like to see is Gary Holt! And yes if they would do such a tour Gary must be there on the stage with Exodus! He is the main guy he was on all Exodus albums. He is the main sound in Exodus. Best riff writer ever!
Tom rules.
Indeed! 🤘🔥🤘
Tom, Exodus almost never rolls through my town. I will buy a stocking cap with the band logo after the Holliday. I would have bought a zip up hoodie long ago but I hate that zombie album cover.
Great channel guys. Love this series!
+FreqsTV thanks a ton! We really appreciate that 🙌
Is this a school cafeteria? LOL! Seriously, that was a great interview with one of the coolest down to earth guys in the business.
Right? It kinda looks like a school cafeteria :D but it’s the backstage of Komplex 457 in Zurich, Switzerland. Cheers! /Sebi
Fast food music... Next , next,next...nowadays your famous the day your cd is released then tomorrow the next band does the same...back in the day an LP had way more lasting power....Holy Terror..Forbidden..1st Death Angel ...Morbid Angel...Helstar..NWOBHM...Maiden / Priest etc..each had its own character .. That's what is gone today
+MICHAEL LENTINI Very well put, Michael. Purchasing and listening to music used to be a joyous ritual that strengthened the experience of the release of an album, as explained by you and Tom. Fortunately some music fans are holding on to that, and hopefully more will go back to understanding and appreciating the beauty of that experience. /Sebi
12:30 . One thing I have noticed is that being able to buy individual songs has kept some bands honest. I remember the LPs that had two or three good songs and the rest being garbage and you were stuck with it. I buy the CDs from bands like Exodus, Overkill etc because they really don't have any filler songs imo.
dkyelak I know exactly what you mean, and I really appreciate the bands that try t oavoid fillers and go for all killers. /Sebi
