      It’s interesting you ended up feeling that way. When he was like “please stop please don’t do this” was probably the last words his victim said to him, any and all sympathy that had an iota of significance died. People who protest morality in favor of those who commit heinous crimes are just as questionable. The actor did amazing though kudos

      I feel the same. I have empathy for anyone when they're in pain no matter who they are unless they're in that moment in front of me harming another. To the other person who flagged that empathy as questionable, I would argue that they are more questionable with their morality

      @@sincerelyserene5666 I'm surprised this needs to be said, but the state murdering (or in this case mutilating) someone is morally completely different than a person doing it to another person. Like how a lone mass shooter is one thing, but if the President told the police to open fire on a crowd of people it would be way, way, WAY worse.

    The thing that stuck with me most was how they paraded him around schools.
    What happened when there was a kid or teacher who was missing limbs? Would society assume they were criminals? How long before amputees get upset? Cause one person's exsistance as another person's punishment is pretty bleak.

      If you really think about it I doubt they would assume they were amputees because just like in this short film. It wasn’t even the victim who kept asking for him to keep having the surgeries. I’d think majority of the victims families would keep going until there was almost little to nothing left to sustain them or dead.

      No one gets released with this punishment. It’s explained as “punishment to the most severe crimes.” The thought of “they are missing (what ever body part) so they are a criminal.” Out in public wouldn’t occur.

    There's a reason "cruel and unusual" isn't allowed. Because humanity rarely knows where to draw a line. It would take less than 20 people for this to end up claiming someone wrongly convicted, or for this to drive doctors and families to insanity.

    • @emmmahezw
      @emmmahezw 20 годин тому

      Exactly. Heinous crimes can be committed, but there is no need to perpetuate more and more violence and insanity. It’s a scary thought that once people get a taste of that sort of thing, it’s hard to control.

    Short film that masterfully establishes the darkest side of the victims. Detailed and comparative piece of a much more normalized situation today, but equally atrocious in any reflection, the attendance of relatives at the executions of those condemned to death. About whom a significant number were later proven innocent and in whose scenarios the only light of humanity, understanding and civilization emanated from the Catholics who accompanied them in their last moments, as has been the example of Helen Prejean and so many others.

It was about a girl and was about to go to sleep but felt someone was there in the room. When that someone ambushed her got so scared that she jumped on them and trashed their face with a torch... The scene ends with the parents of the girl at the door holding a birthday cake and her brother laying under her with his face in a pool of blood.

    I've watched this a couple of times now. Disturbing and dark concept.
    This could be spun out a longer film. For example, we don't really see the effects of this on the family. It's hinted at... initially there are three members, then the daughters no longer come to watch, and the final scene is the father looking haggard as he signs off on the final amputation.
    Was the father satisfied? Or did he eventually learn that nothing would ever quench the grief inside him? Did the need for revenge tear apart his family, i.e. everyone lost? How about the lawyer and the medical staff? How does it affect them to be a part of this process?
    Good acting on the parts of the two leads...

But could you imagine being slowly picked apart, and while your body is healing, youre only left with your thoughts and the next surgery scheduled? That is the true tourture. Though this can be taken as a kinda barberic version, its not a bad idea to glimpse into once again, as it was a thought that was deemed "too inhumane" by the public, but opinions have changed
