I don't know if this is a dumb question, but is there a way to just increase the EV value up to 2 or 3 EV difference per shot?
Unfortunately, you cannot bracket shots that far apart which is a shame as you can do this on a lot of other camera systems. I have asked Lumix if they could change this a few times but I just don't think there are many people out there requesting the change so it likely won't happen unfortunately.
This is what I was looking for as well. It would be really helpful to have the ability to manually adjust the distance between exposures.
@@PixelProProductionsKelowna Yeah, it would be great if you had the option to do this. Hopefully it will be pushed out in a firmware update one day 🤞
The olympus has it. Shame on Pana
@@godsinbox To be honest I think most camera brands have it, I'm guessing people just don't use that feature much for them to never improve it.
Hey man great video and very helpful. I just tried it and it worked fine until I connected my flash to the camera now it will not bracket even though all the options you demonstrated are selected ? Another thing is any changes like ISO or fstop won't be previewed on screen until I take off the flash then everything functions as usual. Any thoughts ideas please ?
Thank you, glad you found it helpful. Unfortunately exposure bracketing doesn't work with flash on Lumix cameras (at least any I have). I mentioned that for people that may be using other systems. If you want to introduce flash it's possible but it becomes more of a manual process, I tend to use the Lumix Sync App. Also the camera cannot show a live exposure preview for flash as there are just too many variables like the flash direction, bounce surfaces etc.
Very helpful, thank you
No problem, glad you found it useful 👍
Thank you. I would never use it, as I don't shoot photos with the 6. But I do look forward to your presentations.
Thanks, always appreciated 👍 I have really enjoyed using the GH6 for photography. A massive improvement on the GH5 in regard to photo quality and nice additional features as well.
What do we do with the bracketed photos, after we take them? Maybe I missed it but I didn’t see any discussion about that.
This is the process I use 👉 ua-cam.com/video/wFbQ-djJ_sY/v-deo.htmlsi=CwE0Wjjh2WtNvG7H
Hi,
Thanks for this great video.
For some reason the option of "Single shot setting" is disabled for me and it only capture a single image.
It makes this whole feature not usable for me. Any idea why this menu item is disabled?
Hi, thanks, I appreciate it and glad you have found it useful. My guess would be that you have your top left dial on the camera set to the first burst setting. Switch it back in to single shot mode and you should be good to go!
@@stevelitton indeed. Works like a charm. Thanks! 🙏
No problem, glad you got it sorted 👍
Hey Steven, do you do much real estate photo with the gh6? What are your thoughts on the camera for that purpose?
Hi, yeah I have used it a fair few times for that purpose. It works well for me because I can pack my drone and gh6 neatly into a backpack for jobs. You just need to make sure you have a nice wide lens that doesn't distort the image too much.
I have an 8-18mm f2.8 - f4, I was wondering what settings you'd shoot realestate with? Do you take your shots as raw files and with AWB?@@stevelitton
Oh that lens should be perfect. I set the white balance manually and then shoot at a narrow aperture to get as much in focus as possible. I always shoot RAW+JPG. Hope that helps.
Hi Steven, when I'm using an ssd with my Lumix GH6, I only get roughly 30 minutes or record time from one original battery. Did you upload any video explaining battery life while using ssd? I know the GH6 is power hungry, even with a Sony NP-F970 with 65.86 Wh, Im only getting 60 minutes run time while using ssd. Please Help!
Hi, in a recent video I talked about using external batteries while shooting to SSD here 👉 ua-cam.com/video/gzc2zlyD6PU/v-deo.html I also did a video about power saving options here that you may find helps a little 👉 ua-cam.com/video/NN9z4WI1Olo/v-deo.html
Great video, thank you. I have tried but I still have trouble shooting inside with bright windows. Alway the window are over exposed, and the interior comes out Ok. Any suggestions ? Thank you
Thanks, appreciate it 👍 all shots are a little different but the easiest way to have a quick check in-camera is to get your exposure right for inside and then change the exposure compensation down until you get those details in the windows. Then you know how wide a range you need to cover. I find 7 shots with 1 stop increments works best for extreme cases. So I will often just use that for everything and then I know I am covered across the board. It's more images but I can automate everything nicely in post, so not a worry.
Hello. I lost the link to your video with the settings for disabling the red sensor while recording a video. For some reason, these settings in the camera disappeared. Remind me where is your video?
Was it this one about the red frame indicator? ua-cam.com/video/8WilaiZUcwk/v-deo.htmlsi=_5EaRXChLPmHi_SA
Mechanical shutter or electronic shutter for photography. What's better?
Just depends on what you are doing, the electronic shutter will give you faster shutter speeds and burst rates but it can't be using with an external flash. You also get a silent shutter, which could be a pro or a con depending on what you are doing.
Which photo quality would be better?@@stevelitton
@@lnuponom2678 doesn't make any difference unless you are shooting really high speed shots.
@@stevelitton What if you shoot slowly?
They would just be the same.
7 stops of bracketing. This won't even give you the dynamic range required for true hdri. This is bonkers. 7*2EV or 5*3 would be minimum.
Unfortunately this is all that is available in the cameras. But you can always use the Lumix app and just shoot a couple of different base exposures and do it that way. Personally I don't because then it makes the lightroom workflow a bit tedious. The camera has a dynamic range boost feature, so it is already doing a little photo merging for each shot anyway. I have always been happy with the results.
@@stevelitton this dynamic range boost feature, I found it in video mode but not yet in photo mode? Is it the same? Then about the requirement of true hdri... Isn't every RAW photo allready 12 or 13 stops? So that would mean 12 stops +7x 2EV apart) = 12+14= a total of 26 stops dynamic range? I am new to this as I mostly film with camera's, so forgive me if I am absolutely wrong please. Also, maybe just making a movie (in 5.7K) with a lens stopped down and changing exposure with ISO or aperture on the lens, we could do much more then 7 steps...I believe. but manually selecting all the prores or hevc .MOV frames in resolve would be tedious work...
@@pieterpauwelbeelaerts5995 DR Boost is a bit of a strange implementation on the GH6. For photos, I believe it is active all the way up to iso 800 and then it switches off. But this is all done in-camera and there are no options to toggle it on or off like you have in the video mode. To be honest when shooting in RAW you can recover a lot of highlight and shadow information in one shot but the bracketing just allows you to go that extra bit further with additional shots. It's not something you need the majority of the time but for property shots it can be really useful because you are often shooting in dark rooms on very bright days. Grabbing frames from video can work too but you have less flexibility than a RAW file and photos are very easy to bracket and stack in very little time. I did a video here about how I automate the process for shoots with quick turnaround times 👉 ua-cam.com/video/wFbQ-djJ_sY/v-deo.html
