This is Yamamoto's 3rd start with a shutout. Besides the first game in Korea he has pitched really well. He's still getting adjusted to the league in his first season in MLB.
What I seen of Yamamoto is a sign of a great pitcher. He has great movement command in his pitches and works the stike zone, alot of pitchers has good stuff or just throws hard but don't know how to paint and work the corner's of the strikezone. Yamamoto paints it like an artist.

I agree, ever since the last game with the Mets the bullpen has been stepping up. It was nice today to see a more poised Phillips on the mound with command on his pitches, and attacking batters. That is the attitude you need as a pitcher.
Yamamoto is a great pitcher like Greg Maddox instead of a hard thrower with heat like Randy Johnson. Yoshi's movement on his pitches and commmand especially on his spliter is incredible.
Today's Yoshinobu Yamamoto was helped by catcher Austin Barnes' framing technique. It felt like Since he is compatible with this catcher, I would like him to be a dedicated catcher to Yoshinobu Yamamoto like Clayton Kershaw
It’s good to see his gradual improvement. I was hoping he would make it into the 7th but he ran into some trouble in the 6th, making extra pitches. I’m really curious how he does against the more elite NL teams like the Braves, Phillies and Brewers.
People saying he needs to pitch better than Gerrit Cole is absurd. Cole hasn't even pitched this season like come on. Give Yama some time to dominate. Why are we baseball fans worried when his own teammates believes he will do great.
On a Twelve year contract he has time but he is showing signs of brilliance already. Personally I was expecting him to struggle for at least a couple of months but I don’t believe he will be struggling after today, he is clearly getting more confident and that is bad news for anyone that picks up a bat.
He’s a great player he’s definitely going to be a big star! Not only that he’s only 25 he has a lot of time to cultivate that talent even more, plus his pitches are fantastic!
I had a flashback of Masahiro Tanaka of the 2020 Yankees being hit in the head by a 112 mph (approximately 180 km/h) liner (straight line ball) during a practice session and collapsing. Yoshinobu Yamamoto caught a similar ball and was lucky that it didn't lead to anything serious
6 IP, 0 R, 7 K, 4 H, 1 BB Even though the opponent was the weak Nationals, Yamamoto pitched well. He tends to get a lot of attention because he signed a bigger contract than even Gerrit Cole, but people forget that he is only 25 and in his MLB rookie year.🗻👏
Dumb ignorant people wants him to go straight and be an ace just because of his contract, people don’t take a look at what he had to go through and all the adjustments he has to make!!! He’s gonna be fine and next year when Dodgers sign Sasaki, this teams gonna be on fire 🔥!!!
I think he'll be an ace by the end of this year. Considering he is still adjusting and not at 100% and he had a 45 ERA after 1 game and he's already down to the mid 3s.
It's the placement of his fast ball. His issue was he was throwing it as first pitch and down the middle. Now that it's no longer his first pitch 80% of the time and he is going away with it everything changed
On a Japanese broadcast, a baseball commentator said that he still hasn't shown his true potential in NPB, even in today's game. He said he would be more surprised if he could show his true potential. I haven't changed much in detail.
Great performance by Yamamoto, and the crazy part is the Dodgers are favored to pickup Roki Sasaki too. Glasnow, Buehler, Kershaw, Yamamoto, and Sasaki would be insane
@@oraora5410 yes I agree Otani but Dodgers must thing of his longevity, and not introduce him to quick as a starter. Next year imo he should be either be a setup or closer, and sometimes start a bullpen game. Then half way if his arm feels good, then move him as a starter

Its dumb that we don't use VR or AI to exactly call a strike. Too much subjectivity in having a human do it. Its really unfair to batters. The zone should not be subjective. It should be exact.
Only 0:07 was the questionable call. Other two strikeouts were right on the strike zone and it's the right call. The umpire was terrible throughout the game not only Yamamoto, but the Nationals got lucky calls too.
@@mao5787 but it is a much wider issue, at all levels from pro all the way down to little league. you have much subjectivity and wrong call making. probably over the next 5-10 years we'll see some tech do more of the call making. but the umps will still be there. over time the tech will get cheaper so it will work its way down to minor leagues, college, high school, and finally LL
The box on television does not represent the actual or official strike zone. It's a two-dimensional approximation. That box and the umpire's "box" do not overlap completely. And yet Yamamoto manages to paint both like a Michelangelo.

catching a line drive to the face right after the pitch! Amazing!
That hit back to Yamamoto was inches away from a severe injury.
Yamamoto has incredible stuff especially his splitter 🔥 he's gonna be a dominate pitcher in a year or two.

Yup. His command is his selling point. If he can dot the strike zone as he pleases, it's over for the rest of the league. [Plus his splitter.]
His velocity is decent though. He can dial it up to 97, 98
