John Yolo for night maps, they should have all ships with decreased visibility, but with searchlights for spotting at short range. Imagine how fucking awesome it would be to see a cruiser steaming at full speed, lights locked onto an enemy DD and blazing away with all guns!
Instead of full night battles(they were kind of rare, because you could not really see the enemy very well), I think it would be better if some matches started at dawn(low visibility, giving all ships a lower detection value) and then within the next 5 minutes it turned into a "regular" match. It would allow bigger ships to close in, while also allowing Cruisers and Destroyers to get into a strong position. Similarly, there could be matches that started in daylight and then within the last 5 minutes of the match, it would get progressively more dark(lower detectibility), allowing for a final "stab in the dark". The issue with full night battles would be that you would have to spend a long time searching for enemies, and if you lose a spotter, you risk losing all vision again.
My love for WoWs just started flaring again, after 4 months of on and off playing for the first time in 2 years since I started when OBT began, Flamu you have truly made me love WoWs again, good job. :)
the new fires and smoke haven't gotten the bending from ship moving that's why it looks weird, they just gotta make it like the old one so it floats away from the ship's direction of movement
Don't forget the WWII footage showing USN 5"/38cal guns in full anti-air daka mode. They throw quite a few fire rings. Put some of that in the game; they can fix the busted meta later...
Remember that time is sped up in World of Warships. I agree that the smoke could last a bit longer, but it shouldnt be too much either. The fireballs need to be slimmer though.
Yes i concur. Smoke dissipates way too quickly. First thing you notice on WW2 pictures are those looong smoke trails ships are leaving. I guess they cant do it because of performance issues this would cause on the client.
Go on the Wikipedia page for the USS Iowa and you'll see a picture of it firing a full broadside. The new special effects remind me of that picture. Awesome!
For everyone who is scared about how tough it will be for their laptop, thats what WG stated on PTS registration website: "It should be noted that though new effects look amazing, they won't affect the system performance! " So i guess updated are existing parcticles etc and should not rly give any additional stress to your system.

WOW! After playing 2+ years Im still amazed by some of the changes! Wows is an impressive game indeed. My only concern is that all that smoke from guns and fires might make targeting harder, quite historical haha.
Oh damn that looks great. Would be even better if the smoke from firing the guns lingers longer, I want ships to be able to create their own smoke screens :P
I want to see the ships bank over when the guns fire, and the water rippling away as the shockwave from large guns firing hits it... That would be dank asf..
This looks great, however what Im looking at is more realism overall: Better shells physics, example - shells bouncing off armor and flying in different directions. Smokes - all kind of smokes, from firing your cannons all the way to fires, should stay longer, have different colors. Ship animations - introduce that all the AA / secondary cannons actually move and point towards the direction that they shoot at. Ship models - higher quality models with actual holes upon successful penetration. Debris of all kinds - exploded ship / shot down plane floating on top of water or slowly sinking / slowly sinking ships / destroyed coastal town e.t.c.
Actually I've been wanting something like this for a long while. More immersive and realistic. I was the tail gunner on the Tirpitz as a young man and this is exactly what it was like.
Did they change the spectator camera? Used to be you could fly it up into the sky for a better view but every time I try to use it now it seems to be glued to ground level.
I can see people using the new "dynamic" software to add an alarm sound file. As a warning of newly spotted nearby ships that some players for some reason don't know about. Like in WoT where some players spacial awareness is at 0.1%

Boy this is like they heard an older post of mine on the eu forum couple of months ago :) I was suggesting a little more drama and special effects and here they are at last! :) There is still some space for tiny improvements but hey, this is a huge step ahead and can't really wait to play this! too bad the PT doesn't work right now :( Any ideas someone? After clicking the connect button it just freezes and that's it
Sincerely, looks promising, maybe not perfect/fished, but promising. I just hope they put so much effort on balancing as on these fancy effects/music ...
My screen is to small for all this new awesomeness :) Now i can hope for filters (like WOT) again ;) I like the way there is fire inside the smoke from fires, small debris that rises because of high air temperature and then catch fire, it certainly adds more realism and sense of a battle to the game.
Great new effects, thank you for showing them. But the music is already dynamic ingame. Oh i also hope they give the new effects more Quality, because while they are big the resolution of the effects (Smoke and Fire) is pretty low.
The explosion effects seem to clip into the water and that looks really weird. The smoke and explosion effect seem to go away too fast. Still, though, I think its pretty cool and I hope they polish it out some more.
Too bad you didn't get any video of what it looks like when someone fires out of smoke. I wanted to see if that will change with the new change to the detection in smoke.
I hope to see nice big citadels exploding like in Warspite blowing up in the short film WG use. Or the shots from the battle of Jutland where the battlecruisers go up in flames. Or the actuall Hms Hood going up in may 1941. (just for the visuall effects though... War is Hell)......
I play WoWs on ultra super duper low settings on my very low budget laptop (that overheats btw) and these new graphics r AMAZING!!! Looking forward to 6.10... thx flamu
I wonder if they will add the HMS Hood type of detonation with the huge flames jutting up and then a huge explosion. One can dream
That would almost make up for the "Fun and Engaging" factor of getting detonated.

I imagine at least a margin of the playerbase would mind being detonated just a little bit less if it gives you an awesome explosion to look at.
Yeah and when Yamato detonates she has a smoke clound that you can see go miles into the sky and can be used as a smoke screen

They are improving the graphic effekts one by one, so I hope we will get this ons in further updates to
i want more visuals for AA like flashing on the ship from the guns and more bullet effects, not this each gun takes a turn crap
they have to make them explode in made air only, and a really slight muzzle flash, that's all I want
Little things make the game more refined. Kind of Michael Bay-ish, but definitely adds to the visual appreciation of the game.
Yea, before explosions just looked really cheesy and underwhelming. They also looked symmetrical-ish, which a destructive explosion should never be.
Kevin play the PTR, YT makes it look a lot worse than it is. Heck even on medium settings, it's very nice to see the new effects.

the main gun smoke fades waaaaaaaaaaaay too quickly and the secondaries have enormous fireballs

From my experience, fire smoke already blocks vision, so, I prefer better effects

I find that the massive smoke clouds hinder my vision quite a lot. It looks amazing but in a tight brawl they get in the way

Every game should have a "Michael Bay" setting in the effects quality portion of the options menu.
Would be cool if they added waves or really rough weather for the cyclone duration
