Most people I know got raises. Employers are struggling as much as their employees. In other words, at every level it takes time to recover from a period of inflation. The best strategy is to make an effort to take advantage of the economic opportunities that accompany inflation and deflation of the economy. During the Great Recession if you had money set aside for buying real estate there was money to be made. During a period of inflation, fixed value assets, like a loan take a beating, because the rate of inflation is higher than the loan rate. During a period of inflation, items that tend to bring in cash (rentals) or that increase in value in response to inflation (e.g. gold) is what you want to have.

You're correct on everything except one. Employees have not been getting the raises. In a perfect world economy, this would work as you have stated.
They have just not at the rate of the crazy inflation we have had during the Covid era.
