Hi I’m Luke Hickson, welcome to my channel Hicks Golf Vlogs. I played golf in October 2021 and since then have been hooked to the game.
In my first 12 months of playing golf, I took my Handicap from 30 to 13 and started making Vlogs documenting my journey on UA-cam and social media in October 2022.
In my journey from 30 to 13, I had to develop many aspects of my game, have plenty of visits to a PGA Pro for lessons and study all angles of golf.
On my channel you will find a wide range of topics, from entertaining golf content such as trips & courses I visit, challenges with friends & much more.
Plus I will also bring out other videos with the tips & tricks I've learnt along the way that may help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons consistently , master your short game and hole more putts.
If you enjoy the channel make sure you hit subscribe and also tap the notification bell so that you are always notified when I release a new video.
Thanks for the tips, I am a 22 handicapper, played since 2020. I will try to implemate your tips🙏 Tom from Denmark
would love to see you do a video on this: over the past year, what has been your weekly or monthly schedule of playing rounds (9 or 18), practicing (driving, approach, short game) and lessons? how many hours have you put in? how has your hcp Progressed through the year.. can you chart it each month?
Great video. What carry bag are you using?
Great content. Very relatable to me, a 15 handicapper. Well done.
Great video with some excellent advice.
Nice vid mate 👍
Excellent content, like the tips especially focusing on the short game. Nice tip on the par 3s
Glad it was helpful! I recently started aiming for the middle of the green and it's surprising how much closer I've ended up nearer the flag....
Love the channel mate, big fan from across the pond. Keep up the great work 👌🏼
Thankyou 😊
Im stuck at 19 hcp! This is Money...aiming to hcp 15 this year.
Great vid 👍
Loving your channel! Such relatable content!
Glad you enjoy it! Thanks so much for watching!
Should've sung the "two outta three ain't bad" part 😂 rip Meatloaf!!
OMG I've missed a prime opportunity there! Love a singalong haha.
@Hicks Golf your channel is awesome mate- keep doing what you're doing 👌
@@matthewshepherd826 thanks pal - loadddssss stuff planned. Can’t wait for the summer!
Great video 📹 👍
Have you done a video on how you use Arccos to get the most out of it?
Not yet! I've been planning on doing my thoughts on the Arccos sensors as I've nearly had them 12 months now. Not sure I would be able to play golf without them!
@@HicksGolfwould like to see your thoughts on them. Great content all round mate 👍
Great stuff. Subscribed
Thank you
Do these tips still apply for 2024?
Great content! Getting that short game together is, imo, the most important piece as well as always (ALWAYS!) aiming for the middle of the green on approaches! 🙌🏾
12:05 - Honestly, for this shot I’m doing a chip and run using an 8 iron since in right in front of the green like this. I will rarely use a wedge within 10-12 yards with green to work with.
🔥 content, man! Keep it up!
Thanks! Short game is where it's at and its surprisingly much easier to improve than a lot of other areas of golf.
Personally I like the PW bump and run there!
Nice video, thanks for the tips... At 5:23 in the backgroud i can see dogs with there owners👀 ... You are aloud to play whit you dogs in your country ?
Correct, it depends on the course. But my home course does allow dogs on the course on leads!
@@HicksGolf cool... Just hope that he don't bring back the ball 😂👌
Im usually under 30 putts a round, on a good day chipping i get up and down about 60% of the time, if off day 30%, driving is sketchy but last time out hit 80% fairways about 210 / 220 yards on average. So what would you expect my hc to be? At the moment 20! Gir only 8 to 12% basically my approach iron play is poor. If i get gir ill par the hole 9 out of 10. I need advice badly, i get in great positions to just throw it away from 150 yrds in or closer.
Well a 10 handicap hits 63% of greens from 150 yards. Need more than 210 to 220 off the tee or need to move up a tee box. Par 5 is 500 yards you should be able to hit 250 yards ( 50 percent of the total yardage ). If already on the up tee then need to concentrate more on short game.
Forget par.
Play for a personal par. Off 20 that means.
16 holes one over par and 2 holes 2 over.
Means if card says 340y par 4
This really is a personal par of 5 for you.
Now think how to get on green in 3 shots.
For hole rated 1 &2 you have a personal par of 6, so this means on for 4.
This approach will help you.
10:40 forget GIR, play nett GIR. Ie par 4 PP is 5 so on for 3.
Par 3 on for 2.
Par is Professional Anticipated Result.
For handicap make own expected score on hole.
If play by yourself with no competition cards how will your GHIN come down for year.
I really hope this doesnt get patched in 2024
You said if we all hit 20 balls and your graphic showed you hit 15
There’s always one lol thanks for watching 👍
