Opie & Anthony - Bruce Willis Is A Dick

- Опубліковано 28 вер 2024
- For years there have been many rumors about Bruce Willis being a major Hollywood asshole. Kevin Smith tells Marc Maron a brief story about their working relationship on the set of "Cop Out". The guys discuss that and what they've seen from Bruce along with his movie career. (1-24-11)
Stallone wasn't kidding when he said that he was greedy and lazy.
I'd be lazy too if a lot of the projects Willis ended up on were utter trash. Saying it now, Kevin is 80% shit and only 20% actually creative. Kevin also really gets on my nerves with how he always plays things out in his stories with how 'holier than thou' he is. Probably sniffs his own farts.
@@TaskMaster5 then don't take the fucking money
@Stevie Keyz Have you seen the 2 films about The Baytown Bleeder? They were both great. The film with Liev Schivber is,Awesome!!
@@TaskMaster5 "with how holier than thou he is"? Kevin Smith is routinely one of the most self-deprecating (especially for someone who isn't generally all around cynical) people working in the entertainment business.
@@jerryschutte6970 *Bayonne Bleeder
As Jay Baumen said once about the whole Smith vs Willis thing "Sure, bruce Willis was being a dick, but Kevin Smith should know how to direct too."
Paraphrasing but that's the gist of it.
When did he say that? That does seem like a thing he’d say too.
First off I think the guy who made Space Cop doesn't have much room to talk. Also Smith said that was a lie that he didn't actually direct and just smoke pot.
LOL!
The irony of opie’s Bruce on set story is amazing.
"I would lie down in traffic for Tracy Morgan" oh the irony
PsychicAndIce lol
I"ve met tracy by chance at a gas station.
guy payed for my gas and took a picture with my nephew.
Real class act would always root for the guy
Love Tracy
Why is it ironic
@@7Be because he recently had a car accident and almost died
What irony?
This has been stated over and over since the 80's.
Not only was Bruce's career in a slump before Quentin put him in Pulp Fiction, his part was written for Mickey Rourke who (for whatever reason) passed on it. So Bruce was doubly lucky to get that part and revive his career.
LOL what are you talking about? Die Hard 3 was a success and came out THE SAME YEAR as Pulp Fiction. Then he had the 6th sense.
@@crapadopalese It came out after Pulp Fiction, and it was his first attempt to revive his career. He had 4-5 flops in a row before Pulp.
His agent passed on it.
@@lamentate07big mistake.
I heard Bruce Willis said Kevin Smith, "Is a whiner." I believe it.
I believe Bruce said that.
@Fam Alam What cartoon?
What I don't understand is Kevin talked about working with him on Die Hard 4, and how awesome he was, he was easy going and even had Kevin completely re-write a scene and fucking loved it, all that shit... but then in a few years he had completely flipped? that seems kind of strange..
Kevin Smith had one scene in die hard 4. They would have worked together for less than a week.
He wasn't directing Willis in DH4.
Willis asked Kevin about a camera lens, and Kevin (a film director) had no clue what he was talking about. Kevin failed the shit test, and Willis had ZERO respect for Kevin or this shitty film from that point on. Bruce Willis saw the writing on the wall, and didn't want to waste his time and talent on a "director" who is basically a stoner lunkhead.
How do you know this? He had so little respect for him that he . . . signed up to be directed by him in Cop Out?
Josh Lavian Kevin told the story on another, previous, episode of o&a. He said that on the set of 'cop out', Willis asked Kevin if He was using a certain type of lens, and Kevin said "I have no clue!". He said that Willis replied (in a tone of disbelief and disgust, according to the way Kevin imitated Willis voice) "you're a director and don't know what kind of lens you're using?!" and Kevin said Willis really acted offended. On that same episode (which was previous to this episode and very shortly after the movie was released) , Kevin never mentioned the trouble he had with willis, and in fact was still raving about him as a hero. The camera lens story was told with a laugh, but when I heard THIS episode I knew that Willis disrespected Kevin because he didn't care enough to even know what lenses his camera used. It was a "shit test" by Bruce Willis toward Kevin, and Kevin failed miserably. Willis probably, at that moment, decided that he wasn't going to let this slacker shithead tell him how to act since he was barely competent as a director due to his indifference to his fucking job, the one he supposedly performs as a career. I don't blame Bruce a bit, because Kevin smiths movies are total dogshit to non-stoners.
Well, that was one conversation that went fucking nowhere....
I would really like to know Bruce Willis's take on his feelings about the movie...he has never publicly spoken out about it. I wonder what the catalyst was for his so-called poor behavior? It is always good to hear both sides of an argument to make an informed decision.
It's not just this movie. He's a notorious a-list asshole around the board
Dude, do you honestly think Bruce would give this the time of day? He's too self centered to be worried about what one director of a movie said
Bruce did respond and claimed Kevin just sat in his trailer and smoked weed all day. However according to others aside from Kevin, that was bullshit and it's clear as day Bruce was his entitled dickish self who was there to collect a paycheck doing a movie he didn't wanna do.
@@citypopFM
I am sorry but it was not Bruce who spread rumors about Kevin's drug habit. It was representatives associated with the Cop Out film. The statement was: ""He (Kevin Smith) uses way too much pot... He sat behind his monitor. He didn't interact with the actors. The actors felt they were on their own." Now, i do not support Willis. He is a rude prick, arrogant, ignorant and provocative. But let us not idolize Kevin. or take for granted that his opinion is what actually happened.
Cop Out was such a terrible movie. It was stunningly bad.
Unbreakable sequel coming this year!
why does Kevin wear the same shirt all the time?
Kevin Smith's latest movie makes Cop Dog look like Cop Out.
The way opie’s voice keeps changing while talking about Willis and the wish kids. Makes me think this is a neat truth.
Going to say this...... He lives in Hailey Idaho. And they whole town hates him.
I was a bodyguard in college when celebrities would come to Vegas, I was just an escort bodyguard, I was rarely in the same room with them when they were sitting around. I did realize one thing while doing this line of work. I didnt want to do it for a living, don't get me wrong, the money was better than great, I felt way overpaid. I just didnt understand why they felt the need to treat others like shit, All you hear is "Do you know who I am?" The younger celebrities and the children of celebrities are the worse people, they like to cause the most problems and aren't as innocent as people think they are. These kids grow up to be delinquents much earlier than the average kids, they also know more than any kid their age. Talk about trailer trash, thats who I felt I was protecting.
god a buddy whos family do that for a living... though.. his father, grandfather and one aunt.. arent in any way willing to put up with "do you know who i am" behavior "yeah, an asshole" tends to be the reaction... they have been fired but...also gotten loyal clients because, they dont take shit and are honest/upfront... no pussyfooting around...
and yeah young wealthy people in general tend to have no restraint or logic in their actions... just... full of themselves.
though..im told shai le...whatever.. isnt as big a dick as some say, he can get bad at times, but, thats just the human condition..im told the big issue comes both when his ego gets a big overblown..again... and when hes forced to work with somebody he dosnt get on with/cant stand..and the shit they say about megan fox back then....holy shit....full of herself....often dismissing and abusive to staff... duno if shes growing out of that behavior or not... it seems like they get this idea in their heads that being polite/kind/considerate to "the help" "lessers" is somehow belittling to their ego... and that something those with fame/power/wealth have been prone to as far back in history as we have written proof of... those with wealth/power/fame, even if they come from "Common stock" starting to think they are some kind of modern royalty...
Tell me some good stories. Please?
Bruce Willis was definitely hurting around the time pulp fiction came out.
With the exception of Die Hard, Die Hard 2, and the Look Who's Talking films, In Country, The Bonfire of the Vanities, Hudson Hawk, Billy Bathgate, and while The Last Boycott is a great movie, those all failed at the box office. 1994 was a comeback year for him with Pulp Fiction, and Nobody's Fool - he finished out the 1990's with Die Hard with a Vengeance, Armageddon, and The Sixth Sense.
@@RyderDavis That’s a good point. 1994 onward, he has a sweet resume.
@RyderDavis 12 Monkeys
Fukin ding dong LOL
I never spent ONE fucking dollar on a Bruce Willis film. Never will.
He’s known as a tight ass among hotel/restaurant staff.
Ant is exactly right, Kevin is too much of a nice guy… I know all about it.
Willis seems like totally hard work if you get on his wrong side and that seems very easy to do.
Willis seems to value his time and when his time is being used for shitty scripts and such, I'd be getting annoyed/angry too. Kevin also seems like the kinda guy who would get REAL tiresome to have around after a while.
If The other guys would be quiet, and not redirect to hear theirs stories, maybe, just maybe we can hear KEVIN'S first hand experience with BRUCE. These guys have to be quiet, or learn how to interview.
I loved Die Hards obviously, but i always thought he came across like he'd be a total douche in real life
i humble you!!!
movie was shit so I don't really blame Bruce for not showing
Bruce Willis is over rated. He was a 90s star who hasn't done anything good in 20 years. Also his shitty attitude is reflected in all of his characters.
Sin City dummy... not much else though!
Love Kevin but the poster, the trailer and the movie were boring, bland and one of the most unmemorable movies i've ever seen.
My dad and I are about 5”10 a piece. He met Bruce Willis when they were shooting Armageddon in Edwards AFB while he was stationed there. He said Bruce Willis came up to his neck in height.
Everyone says he’s tall. Not true
@@kamsandwich6990 Tall by Hollywood standards. Tom Cruise is like 5'2.
Sounds like a quilting circle.
That's that Marc Maron energy for ya
Knowing what we know now it’s quite possible that this was just behavior of an early dementia patient
0:59 "thoe are all movies!"
Didn't he do the Die Hard movie with Sam Jackson in 94 ?
I think he wrote the screenplay and sold it and then the script was heavily changed and made into a die hard movie, something like that
I was in a movie with Kevin smith and he bought me a moon pie.
He moved to my state a long time ago. I have never seen him in person, nor do I care to. Most famous people I have met are not worth the effort of opening my mouth to make conversation, but then again, people don’t like me I’m sure, and I don’t give a shit. Why would they? Unless they are truly a sociopath.
Bruce Willis is one of those Actors that rarely works hard at his craft. If he thinks the movies great he will give a good performance but sadly he does a lot of films simply for the paycheck. Now I know actors that work alot because they wanna earn but some of them still give good performances. Willis acts like the same character in every movie. Inc Cage does a shitload of movies. Some go straight to video but he still gives good performances. Bruce isn't near the Actor he thinks he is either
I really enjoyed copout such a bummer Kevin had a hard time with Bruce. That's a bummer! I did hear an actor say one time that you can't tell Bruce Willis how to play Bruce Willis. I guess it's true.
Diane Smith I agree. I'm sure Willis is an asshole and I could not care less. Willis is mostly in garbage movies now just for a check and not worth watching. Die Hard was amazing though way back when.
That doesn't change the fact that Kevin Smith has only ever made garbage and sounds like the personification of every smug internet troll I want to punch in the face.
I've always seen Kevin as a personification of highschool girls bathroom gossip. It's all he does. It's also funny how most all his stories never implicate that he himself could be a catalyst to any of the negativity. I wouldn't be surprised of Kevin just grates on Bruce's nerves. Bruce has been around the Hollywood block while Kevin is kinda a hack 80% of the time but tries to play in the big leagues. His 'humbleness' feels disingenuous sometimes.
If you went from great movies to shitty ones just to get by, you'd be pretty pissed too.
He has 180 million dollars.Thats just getting by?
Will he answer to the Adam Carolla debacle? ....He doesn't seem to be able to handle stoic, brass tacks kind of men. Probably believes he was bullied as a kid and now feels like he's some kind of protector/ vindicator...like all the superheros in all those shitty comics he and many fat sexless people love so much. Men don't talk about all that stupid shit. At least Tarantino knows his limits. Smith is a jaggoff
Worked with Bruce, and he was awesome - in every way! Cool Dude
DJDAD BODE Hi Bruce
Bull shit
My sister and BIL met on the movie Diehard 3 and they loved him and they had the crew party at the Windjammer on the IOP SC.They loved him.
we thought that movie was hilarious. jess and I always questioned why people said any different.
Heimdall's Gate WHO THE FUCK IS JESS?!
I imagine Bruce Willis is exactly like his character was in Oceans 12. ua-cam.com/video/3lfTLYMECtc/v-deo.html
L. S. I was thinking same thing when I watched that scene: a standoffish dick who sticks his nose where it doesn't belong.
He probably didn't respect the script.
@@RolandDeschain1 Pretty obvious. He's a greedy, plenty of stories about him demanding more money for appearing in movies. Part of the reason he has been in so many terrible movies, he's like Nicholas Cage willing to do anything for a quick buck hence why he is in so many shitty movies. But no one remembers the stinkers he has been in because he has the cult following from Pulp Fiction & Die Hard.
Cop Out was an absolutely horrible movie. It had no redeeming qualities. The entire thing just stunk.
Soooooooooooooooo ...........
I believe Bruce Willis lol
was it on the opie and anthony show some chick did that contest where she drunk 2 gallons of water er some shit and died the next day er so because she didnt pee? i think thats when they were aiming to take them off air those years ago
Thats funny My Sister and Brother in law met and hung out with Bruce Willis and not one time over a film shoot and they loved him.
That's because they are douches

Maybe Bruce was going through some shit...give the guy a break
Grown up dudes gossiping..WTF!!

No you douche... are you just trying to be funny?
MAKE A WISH... for those who have a disease , illness , etc and the outlook isn't good. Maybe only a short time left. No, they haven't "beaten" whatever their issue was.
KS seems like a decent guy, and BW seems like he can be a dick, but badmouthing him is amateur.
KS was given way too much credit for his talent. I’ve enjoyed some of his movies, but they’re forgettable.
Kevin Smith got lucky with Clerks and it had nothing to do with his direction and all to do with the characters the actors played. Anyone could have made that film better on even less of a budget.
Kevin smith always blames someone else for his own shit, just like how he did with carolla
Greensforblues * ehh Kevin is right about Willis though. Stallone Schwarzenegger and many of the other action stars in Expendables even said they just can't work with Willis because he's a straight-up fuckin prick. Other directors also say the same which is why we don't see much of Willis doing huge big box office films
Doesitreallymatter *nope No he doesn’t lol Bruce is actually a dickhead. I can agree the film is bad but Bruce was one of the worst parts about the film.
Bruce is cool as shit huge suppporter of vets was a head of USO entertainment when I was in Iraq, he actually tried to go sign up when the towers went down but was told he was too old, that's why he started working with the USO. He also attended my buddies military ball and got drunk and hung out like one of the boys, thanked everyone for their service and was just cool to be around, from my experience and perspective awesome guy who really cares about his country and they people who serve it. I will tell you this ask 100 people about a me and im sure there will be plenty that say I'm a dick and plenty would say I'm cool perspective is everything. Oh and random but fuck Kevin Smith.
Yeah no this didnt fucking happen.
was he on bad weed?
There’s two sides to every story. While Kevin is correct that Bruce can be/probably was a dick. Let’s not forget that Kevin Smith isn’t the best director either. Willis said that Smith sat behind computer monitors, and didn’t give him good direction. This isn’t the first time Smith has been focused. During the filming of mall rats, Michael Rooker said Smith would frequently be playing a game boy, barely paying attention as he directs.
Smith said that was a lie that he didn't actually direct and just smoke pot.
What if your story is square? Then it has four sides or sumthin tssss HOME RUN
I got to work with Bruce Willis a few years back. The first day on set I approached him to introduce myself as we would be working very closely together. Before I could even say hello he immediately snapped his head around in my direction and said "what are you looking at, 4-eyed bitch?" and punched me into orbit. As I floated into the sky and gazed at the universe I said to myself "wow, well that was rude" and told myself I would never meet my heroes.
Brilliant 👏 👏 👏
As he should've.
And the weird part is, you don't even wear glasses.
So I ran into Kevin Smith on the set in Queens and he looked STRESSED! It was a night shoot for an action packed scene and he didn't look too happy to be there though he was ultra nice to ME
Just realized the irony of me meeting KS, whom I adore, and him being amazing yet he met Bruce and was very disappointed.
hatednyc Not ironic Alanis.
hatednyc ...though I am glad someone on yt has a positive story to share. :)
That’s because Kevin Smith is a quality dude. Met him a handful of times, and he’s always respectful and classy
Were you the glass workers that yelled Die Hard at Bruce and Kevin??
All I know KS is here talking trash about him (as well as others) while I never heard BW talking trash on anyone 🤷🏻♂️
I mean technically the guy can’t talk anymore, so you can’t really blame him. Dementia stinks.
Willis knew the movie was going to be shit..he was right. I don't see how anyone thinks Tracy Morgan is funny
Same people that think Bill Burr is funny or entertaining, I guess.
@@icarusrising355
Yes, but the greatest majority think Burr is actually entertaining, whereas the same cannot be said for Tracy..
Even though Bruce stood up for Kevin during Die Hard ? Kevin just a bad film maker with the talent of a college freshman film student
I worked with a really nice guy who had to work around Bruce Willis, and he had nothing good to say about him.

So you're the one!
Yeah I always watch when its on tv.
Of course Pulp Fiction helped his career, just like any good movie would. But it's not like he was failing to get parts. That old interview with that British guy was brutal though, Bruce should of just ended the interview if he was fed up or tired, instead of being a jerk.
Guess they were wrong about being too late for an Unbreakable sequel.
Opie: here's my banal point of contribution to the discussion. Anthony: let me pull your dog shot point from the fire and end on an actual possibility.

Choose your heroes carefully, and your chances of disappointment will be minimised.
Now we know why Bruce was acting like that. He has aphasia/dementia.
Eh, doesn't mean he can't be a dick too.
@@derekjaramillo5601 uhhh yes it does
Uh anytime,Jim Norton talks about someone on Hollywood being a jerk I chuckle because on Showtime there's a series about a well known British comic who trays to make it in America and Norton is being the biggest Duck to this guy. He wouldnt even give a fellow comedian the time of day. Frankly he didn't think the guy was a comedian he that he was a fan, which is even worse because it shows how Jim might treat his fans

Kevin Smith really isn't that good. Clerks and Jay and silent Bob are his big hits. Everything after that was trash.
@Bob Loblaw I suppose if you only ever watch one of his movies you're only ever gonna like one of his movies.
Dogma is a classic. Mall rats too, I put that up there with slc punk.
He isnt that good? Huh. And who do you think you are, someone special?
Kevin Smith kinda sucks, his mall rat movies were good but his take on Superheros is fucking awful
Seriously if somehow you read this Kevin; Stop. Stop trying to write superhero stories for good.
I think Bruce challenge Kevin from day one and Kevin backed down, setting the tone for the rest of the shoot. You think John McTiernan would have tolerated that behavior?
Bruce may be hard to work with but imagine working with some Kevin the 50 year old who plays with Star Wars toys.

I personally loved Cop Out.
I thought everyone knew this about Bruce "What fucking script, how much does it pay and how little time do I have to put in?" Willis
And what the hell 5:30 "star"? Should have been "I'm director, I'M THE FUCKING STAR, you're just an actor, so act."
Also Tarantino IS a hero, he practically made Willis, Travolta, Jackson, Buscemi, AND Clooney.
Cop Out was a shit movie but Guillermo Díaz is actually a good actor he should get more serious roles
Bruce hasn’t doesn’t anything good since Die Hard 4.... whatever
Ummm...Looper, Sin City, Moonrise Kingdom, a few others. You know not what you speak.
I was a huge Kevin Smith fan, but after his last few movies i think he's just lazy and not as professional as some people in the business. Bruce Willis has that insane unblinking Kobe-esque focus on his career.
Kevin just does what he likes, Bruce Willis is kinda like Tom Cruise in the sense where they never feel like they play a character, just themselves cause they're so one dimensional. Kevin can write some really awesome dialogue and give a good performance by not even speaking in his role. Kevin is definitely cooler
Can't stand Kevin Smith.
Willis > Smith
Willis gave us Die Hard, 12 Monkeys, The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, etc (I realize he didn't direct them, but he headlined them). Smith gave us Dogma, Tusk, Red State, Copout, and countless other crappy movies you never heard of.
I agree, Smith's films are for complete manchildren.
Kevin pls go.
Blaise Telfer Dogman wasn’t even bad and you also forgot to mention Clerks, Clerks 2, Jay and Silent Bon strike back, Chasing Amy and Mallrats which are all good. Willis also gave us Copout and alot of straight to DVD shit movies so your argument is invalid.
Dogma&Red State are great movies.
Clerks is better than every movie Willis ever did except Pulp Fiction.
Kevin Smith is a very poor mans Seth Rogan.
That's an insult to Kevin Smith.
Seth Rogan's movies are terrible.
