- mrhmag.com - MRH publisher Joe Fugate demonstrates his EasyTrees method of making great looking miniature deciduous trees in record time. This video is chapter 14 of the Siskiyou Line how-to video series sold by the MRH Store ( store.mrhmag.co... ). Part of the content in the November 2012 issue of Model Railroad Hobbyist ezine.
Give a damn Oscar to whoever wrote the script for this video. It had me gripped throughout the entire 8 minutes. Gosh
lulz
Henry apparently i am five, because when he said he sits down with the bag of shrub and a large bowl, i was all like, "me too, buddy."
Henry it was written by Bill Shakespeare
Some of the best trees I've seen. Simple to do and great looking. The only other thing is that I see no need to spend money on awls. Nails come in all sizes and almost everyone has some. Drill a hole in the end of a dowel and cut the head of the nail off with a dremel cut off wheel and bingo and awl. A little work but they'll last forever.
Great video, guys! Some of my fondest early work memories was at an art scenery shop in Chicago. The paint department used DM spray paints a Lot. This was in the 80's when the paint formula was definitely not environmentally friendly: the painters were high all the time!! haha one of my first jobs was installing their vent fans!
Now I know where to plant those trees I made!! Thanks!! Great tutorial by the way! Thanks for that too!
Joe, again you have done a great job. There is a video by a company called Zoomco. The video is titled: "Model railroad scenery: Modeling quick realistic trees." I have tried with palm tree, however, I was not able to find roots full enough to use. Again, thank you for a posting another great video.
Trees look great.
All the excitement was spent on the backsplash in the kitchen.
Thanks for the helpful display guys. I work on making scenery for tabletop army games and tree making has always been a costly struggle for me.
Great tutorial! I will utilize this method to add trees to the Tennessee Central Railway Museum HO layout in Nashville!
Great tip and video! I will definitely try this when I'm up to adding scenery. I'm still building the tracks...
You taught me something useful in eight minutes. Thanks. It is easy to criticize but hard to create.
Even harder to act natural... Performane is a underappreciated skill. You both did fine for a very helpful UA-cam video.
Better to build people up rather than tearing them down.
WOW. Great instructional video. I am looking forward to starting my forest.
Wonderful video. In other videos Ive watched people use spray adhesive over hairspray as it holds up longer. What has been your experience with hair spray’s durability?
Thank you !!

Here in California I get the Design Master spray paint at my local Michael's Crafts store.
Hola a todos .donde puedo comprar la tiloxys.gracias.
Excellent work Joe. Do you ever use natural growths (non-commercial)?
Excellent trees
Tone down the excitement a bit guys.
Clever. You get what you pay for -- in this case, the help was free.
Do you show how to make aspine tree
Great video!!
Good video!
great idea.
Thanks for sharing this!
Nice!
weeds!! go out and find weeds that mimic the structure of a tree. mimature rosebush cuttings with ground foam works nicely also. look in your gardens you will be surprised at what looks like bushes or trees. nothing like nature to mimic its self. your a hobbyist use your creativeness and save your money for the more expensive items.
Love 'em.
Hey. a scientific name of the plant you are using.
Grow your own - use bonsai trees, how amazing would that look might take a while though lol
They will eventually die and mold. As far as I have been told, I thought about that in my layout but also pretty dang expensive
lmao the shaved head guy looks stoned as hell! haha
Maybe it was the fumes from the paint. LOL.
how to make trees. step 1: buy a bag of trees. what?
hi everyone ,if anyone else is searching for best model railroad layouts try Panlarko Amazing Railroad Planner (just google it ) ? Ive heard some decent things about it and my friend got great results with it.
I like this guys...Not like one of those who go around net and spread quarrel about politics and nationalism...
I\'m not sure but ,if anyone else wants to uncover model railroad track planning try Stiklind Model Train Fixer (do a google search ) ? Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my buddy got great success with it.
Trees? Great. Acting? Oh my gods please stop.
LOL true! That was really strained acting!!!
Would you say it was "wooden"?

It looks like rather expensive Seafoam plants. You can grow your own for next to nothing.
Can you elaborate?
here's a few things for building a railroad layout yourself
Find a suitable set of plans online
Find a colleague who wants to build one too so you have another person to encourage you
(I read these and why they work from Jareks Hobby Club site )
M
yes rick you know ? wtf do you know
Stuff in America are so SICK cheap, I don't understand how u can get all that for 25 dollars, either u guys are poor as fuck or Europe prices are mad. Same stuff costs about 4 times as much here.
I think he bought it direct from china online. I never come across HO scale stuff thats cheap unless its on Ebay or sometimes Amazon
So damn awkward
I agree. That's what you get when you use free help.

Cardinal Biggles - That you can grow these yourself cheaply and easily is an urban legend. For an actual attempt and all the frustration and complication involved, read this thread: model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/25610
