I downloaded the actual song and although good the live version sounds much better and most time it’s the other way around! Nice job Jeff! FYI “Nothing but a party” by Basic Black is another example of the live Apollo version sounding better than the studio version.

Just because Artist are similar in style doesn't mean they copied them. Chaka Khan and Vesta Williams were similar. Cameo Larry Blackmon, Con Funk Shun's Micheal Cooper and the Bar Kay's Larry Dobson was similar. People said Arron Hall of Guy copied Charlie Wilson of the Gap Band.
He got vocals and can dance and has stage presence
