Bell Biv Devoe went #1; Ralph Tresvant went #1; Bobby Brown went #1; Johnny Gill went #1; this group broke into pieces, and all the pieces hit #1. Has there ever been another group that successful after breaking up?
Nopep
1 only group the beetles also did it.. but N.E. was something serious they was in a different class.. I still bumb them till this day I'm a 70's baby..
@@jstlookin94 really only John & Paul had successful solo careers. Not so much Ringo & George at least I don’t think so.
@@Rmcm1984 they were especially Paul, but you said platinum and every Beetle had a platinum album just like the members of N.E.
@@jstlookin94 don’t think each member had a number 1 on there own
Hats off to Brook Payne for the choreography!!! He had them boys MOVING!!!!!
He needs an award for choreography
You can tell that Brook only worked with them bcuz no one else has ever done anything close to a New Edition routine
Big facts
@@shaepowell2324 he should have been awarded one I hope they do it before he leaves us .
@@lornawest47 right I am glad that set them apart from the others.
I'm totally jealous of whoever was there to witness this greatness, LIVE😂
I was there when they performed in Dallas for another of their amazing performances! They killed it! New Edition forever!
I was there LOL
I was there, Madison Sq Garden. But their suits were black with the handkerchief on the arm side pocket. 😀
I saw them personally Essence.
But I would've paid cash money to witness that in the 80s
I WAS THERE. IT WAS A TIME
Johnny Gill might not be an original member but he definitely made an impact in the group I love his adlibs in this song.
Yes he need to be in the group
JG vocals on Can You Stand the Rain...that note that he hits, also Still in Love the back ground you can hear him, just smooth and sexy.
He made the group more mature
I love the adlibs in this as well. It really completed this song.
Absolutely
I love how Johnny and Ralph complement each other
1958sully Yea especially on can u stand the rain..that back n forth was dope
Stay Alert Stay Alive I agree Algee is some kind of sexy ❤

And The Sound...
even though ralph has a low key personality, he lead this group with style, talent and class!
🎶🙌🏽🎵
These men performed their ASSES OFF and had so many hits, but it always makes me sad to know they were never fairly compensated for their talent. 😢
If I remember correctly It was this Album is when they finally got the money they deserve, but yes after this album they went back to struggling as a group for there money. To be honest as they got older they were at fault for some of the money they missed out on. Perfect example they were going to make a lot of money shortly after there bio movie aired but there was tension In the group so that opportunity fell through.
:(
Most American producers reap millions from artistes and leave them empty. So sad. B2K used to shine but alway broke. Saw their documentary and got so dissapointed.
@@iheardmyhappinessgotyoumad3571 So true. The Home Again album was the bomb and they could've banked off of the album. NE didn't complete the tour. It was a whole mess!! Ricky/Johnny say they lost their houses. After that movie, they would have banked. Not to mention if they had recorded an album. Word on the street was BBD didn't want to tour, after the movie as NE but they went out as BBD.
Absolutely
30 years later and you can't tell me this ain't the coldest choreography EVER for ANY group! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
EDIT: Ok I've changed my mind-- "If It Isn't Love" is the best choreography.... 🤷🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️
We all wanted to be them.....
NE set the standard.... they were the truth. Troop got em beat though in the choreography dept. Better dancers with way more complex routines. Not saying they were a better group, but NE wasn't on Troops level. just my opinion though... cool if anyone else differs! I loved both groups and still do. real music and showmanship by real groups
NE had the coldest choreography in this video
Emile Mency TROOP IS NEW EDITION..THEY GAVE BIRTH TO TROOP..NEW EDITION MOVES WERE SMOOTHER...NEVER COMPARE A MULTI TALENTED AND TIMELESS GROUP LIKE N.E,TO A GROUP THAT WAS JUST PASSING THROUGH.

Now this is how a performance is supposed to go down. Young ppl missed this era ...
So nobody gonna talk about Johnny’s background Adlibs and harmonies? Not to mention him shimming all across the stage lol 😍😍
Hello Dannie
No, its Ralph voice that's more popular an harmonizing. He's always lead vocalist n background
Bruh...Johnies ad libs were 🔥🔥🔥🔥
The adlib at 4:00 by Johnny is nuts
Yea Johnny ate on this one
the movie did justice to these guys
Cristiano Phillip And it also got them a star on the walk of fame. God bless New Edition.
Cristiano Phillip I mean they still had fame wayyyyy before their biopic
They received the star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame BEFORE the movie came out.
Cristiano Phillip they were very famous in the 80's and 90's from guys singing to their girls"Is this the end" to them getting #1 on billboard for a while and they made a movie of their life to show their great success so they wouldn't make a movie for them if they weren't famous before the movie was to honor them and to show younger generation what NE brought to the world. You should learn more about them they are a great boy band. No shade.
Cristiano Phillip damn i need cable
The choreography is ridiculous yo. I love how towards the very end Ralph, Ricky and Johnny steps and harmonies were together. That was dope. This song is fire. Once again my man Johnny killed it with the back vocals and ad libs.
Marley Mal And Johnny's energy was on 100 on this video. You can tell he was having fun and having a great time up there. He was rocking.
Vonte Paige He really was! lol I could feel his energy through the screen. He was killing it!
Marley Mal Temptation steps all day..lol Love these guys
yeah i agree the part when he said "sorry" towards the end lol
markie8792 that part was fire bro lolol
I love it how Johnny Gill comes in with that soulful 'sorry'. Perfection.
Sounds soooo damn good. Crystal clear vocals!!
That's my favorite part to this song. Is it just me or does anyone else hear a touch of Alexander O'Neal?

One of the best live performances I've ever seen. The choreography killed it. Everyone nailed . Johnny brought that mature sound to the group. Thank N.E. for all your contributions to the genre.❤
But not a live performance. It’s a video made up to look like a live show. Small stage, no amps, no band, microphones with no cables? Come on.
also it wasn't johnny, it was Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis producing that elevated NE to maturity

The fact that they were awesome at the start as tweens/teens and never lost their groove as they grew up into men and blew up with fame is a testament to their talent. I miss this caliber of entertainers.

Ricky is EXTREMELY underrated and unappreciated
Outside of Johnnie he has the best voice.
yes!! he had always wanted to be one of the main singers but never got the chance. his voice is AMAZING.
His voice for me aways kills it no matter what track he's on
Jessica Richards he gets down so bad
@Jessica Richards, my point exactly. Even though he was in the group Bell Biv Devoe, he did a great job with his solo songs "When Will I See You Smile Again and I Do Need You" on the Poison album.
Perfect Choreography, not one step missed. Ricky, blew it up when he finished singing and as he was putting the mic back on the stand, didnt missed the next step as if he never left the back end of the trio!!!! Say what you want the 80's 90's group who actually could sing would kill anyone on the stage today.
I just recently saw them live and they are still that mesmerizing in person! Dancing like they’re still in their 20s!

The footwork and steps in this were so grown and polished. Temptations-like.
Only New Edition and Robots can perform like that. Point. Blank. Period!
Yeah, I keep coming back for the choreography, too. One of the tightest displays I've ever seen. It's up there with Janet Jackson's Pleasure Principle, iconic. It's very few songs that people watch over and over because of the dance moves.
