Yes, religion civilizes humans, but that isn't the ultimate goal; the ultimate goal is to arrive at the truth that will please God. This truth will help us on the Day of Judgment - when all will be held accountable for their deeds. By that I mean, Islam is the only religion that truly reveres God with his proper reverence; God wouldn't be spit on and beaten - like some Christians believe. He doesn't need to rest after 6 days - like some Jews believe. He doesn't come down to ra**pe women - like hindus believe. If you search in all religions whilst genuinely looking for the truth, you'll see that only Islam appraises the attributes of God with their true and proper appraisal. If you want to understand why Islam represents the truth from God, you should read the Quran. Clear your mind of any biases, and read the Quran as if just now you're being introduced to Islam; that will help you in objectively judging it - based on its merits. If they have good looks, add a zero on the end so now they have 10 points! If they have a good job add another zero now they have 100 points! I have many guy friends, in fact about half. (11/35). I talk to the, daily and we have a great time. Some used to like me and I used to like some of them, but its not uncomfortable or anything. I dont believe in God or Allah, but I dont hate on it either. So this is only true for some people. My friends all dont have any guy friends, but Im sure some of the people in the comments do.

رَبَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا مِنْ أَزْوَاجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّاتِنَا قُرَّةَ أَعْيُنٍ وَاجْعَلْنَا لِلْمُتَّقِينَ إِمَامًا
Transliteration: Rab-ba-na hab la-na min az-waa-ji-na wa thur-ri-yaa-ti-na qur-ra-ta a’-yu-nin waj-’al-na lil mut-ta-qee-na imaa-ma.
(Rabbana hab lana min azwaajina wa thuriyyatina qurrata a’yunin waj’alna lil muttaqeena imama).
Translation: Our Lord! Grant unto us spouses and offspring who will be the comfort of our eyes, and give us (the grace) to lead the righteous.

From an atheistic perspective, morality is a subjective feeling not an objective fact; it is nothing more than a figment of imagination or byprorduct of blind evolution. If an atheist is to justify an objective moral basis (by saying, "X things is evil" rather than, "I think X thing is evil"), he steals objectivity from religions.

A) Muslims acknowledge that God sent many messengers prior to propeht Mohammed (peace and blessings be upon him). They all called for the absolute, monotheistic worship of God:

(36) And We certainly sent into every nation a messenger, [saying], "Worship Allāh and avoid ṭāghūt."[698] And among them were those whom Allāh guided, and among them were those upon whom error was [deservedly] decreed. So proceed [i.e., travel] through the earth and observe how was the end of the deniers.
[698]- False objects of worship - like human beings or idols.
Thus, many religions around the world have certain moral aspects that are indeed from God. However, humans have altered these original, divine messages; they inserted aspects like this:
1 Samuel 15:2-3 ESV -
(2) Thus says the LORD of hosts, ‘I have noted what Amalek did to Israel in opposing them on the way when they came up out of Egypt.
(3)Now go and strike Amalek and devote to destruction all that they have. Do not spare them, but kill both man and woman, child and infant, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.’'
As muslims, we acknowledge that God didn't make such an unjust order; he wouldn't order the killing of sinless infants and defenceless women.

B) I think we shouldn't have a narrow, secular-only approch on religion, my friend.
Yes, religion civilizes humans, but that isn't the ultimate goal; the ultimate goal is to arrive at the truth that will please God. This truth will help us on the Day of Judgment - when all will be held accountable for their deeds.
By that I mean, Islam is the only religion that truly reveres God with his proper reverence; God wouldn't be spit on and beaten - like some Christians believe. He doesn't need to rest after 6 days - like some Jews believe. He doesn't come down to ra**pe women - like hindus believe. If you search in all religions whilst genuinely looking for the truth, you'll see that only Islam appraises the attributes of God with their true and proper appraisal.
If you want to understand why Islam represents the truth from God, you should read the Quran. Clear your mind of any biases, and read the Quran as if just now you're being introduced to Islam; that will help you in objectively judging it - based on its merits. After doing that, head to your nearest Islamic center. Ask them about anything you encountered.
