I'm not super up on the intricacies of Crossfit (been competing/coaching/judging powerlifting for over a decade), but as a casual fan, your videos on it are fantastic to watch.
Big fan of the professor and of your channel so damn i loved this video! One other thing I remember him doing is deciding to split snatch in a semifinal or regional event. I can't remember which one but as a split snatcher myself i was buzzing to see it!
Watching you attempt to go back to a standard snatch but you ended up sticking with the technique - at the time I thought the movement pattern was too difficult to change under fatigue (right at the end)
I liked how Brent was oxygenating his blood stream, like a competitive freediver, prior to his 50 cal Echo sprint at So Cal Wodapalooza. 38 seconds, though he wrecked himself for the burpees and run.
I am so happy that this video is a counterexample to Betteridge's law of headlines: "Any headline that ends in a question mark can be answered by the word no."
There was recently a video of him showing his home gym. He had created a block with an empty space in the middle for a replaceable mat. He changes the mat based on the type of handstand pushups he needs to do. He has a softer mat for kipping HSPU, a tough one for strict HSPU and the mat could easily be removed for deficit HSPU. This was just one of many things that I thought showed why he is the "professor" in that video.
Now that I think one weird thing that I saw this year at the Games was the split stance on the Ski erg, but also another athlete used it.. maybe it's a thing and I didn't know.
Waiting for him to comment on this video 😂 Brent "the weirdo" Fikowski.. hopefully he'll bless us with a book when he retires, and he'll unveil all of his secrets and strategies 🤞
Thanks Mason... ,You're the best crossfit content on youtube.. I have strong opinions on when new movements or odd objects get introduced to the games. Everything from judging standards, movement loop holes, and potential safety issues. I think the tire sledge hammer event probably would have been executed poorly... Can you do some research and make a video if you agree on it?
22&23 Alpaca. from a "better" kettlebell front rack position to a common crossfitter's kettlebell front rack position(on shoulder), that i realise there is always something "better" in competition.
I think Brent tried to be a little too cute “just because.” For example, if his rowing strategy was that amazing, why isn’t any one else doing it? It gets Brent attention for looking dumb… That’s all it’s good for.
I always hated that name because he rarely executed better than others. Doin an event with your own technique and planning doesn’t matter IMO if you still come in below 5th. I like how meticulous Brent is but he seems to always come in below 5th. I look at how Fronin gamed every event and paced we and that to me is like a professor.
Look mom! Mason Startup featured me in a video 😍.
Great edits. Hope you keep this up my friend. Awesome content.
I love Brent but those dips are a joke 😂
I’ve taken a few risks competing over the years… those dips might have been one of my biggest regrets 😂
damn... thanks for breaking down the rope climbs.
blew my mind 😅
That rope climb callout is great and this move is very strategic! Did not know this

Amazing video! Been watching your videos for a couple of weeks - finally convinced to subscribe! Keep up the great work and edits!
Event 3 at the 2023 Dubai Fitness Challenge - split snatches to take the heat win
Stubby barbell with less room for a wide grip meant I had to get a bit creative

He's also really good at breaking down his gameplan in post event interviews...
My respect for Brent has just doubled!!

Man, you are the best youtuber that makes video about crossfit. Keep up with the good work

As always, I love the content!!
Dom Mazzetti its the only professor for me
Think it might validate all these weird extras more if he won
Exactly. Coming in tenth or lower isn’t validation IMO. Yes he’s been on the podium but not consistently IMO.
Youre not wrong!

Fraser dropped a book with a lot of great secrets already!

Good point! I was actually going to put this in this video
Obviously I dont know him but other than all that you said, he looks like a good guy!
I think Brent tried to be a little too cute “just because.” For example, if his rowing strategy was that amazing, why isn’t any one else doing it? It gets Brent attention for looking dumb… That’s all it’s good for.
To be fair, he shit the bed in the final even of the Games this year, and was out strategized by Sprague which cost him the championship.
cool
Wasn’t he actually a professor?
An accountant or a job in Finance.
We call him "The Beta"
