✓✓√√√√✓√✓√ STUFF-N-SUCH: The movie studios practically insisted that their stars perform on the radio to promote their films. After television began to over-take radio, the studios practically insisted that their stars STAY AWAY from television! That's because film makers thought TV would put them out of business! That's one of the reasons wide-screen (Cinema Scope) was developed - To provide a theater-only "viewing experience" that couldn't be duplicated on TV . . . See? I actually DO have a bit of somewhat USEFUL knowledge I can pass on to you!
..... . . . . . On the flip side, I created my cover-art a couple of weeks ago, and inadvertently put John Huston's name up instead of Walter Huston. I didn't catch it in time. Sorry.

Humphrey Bogart and Walter Houston, the two most important cast members. Both have great voices, very distinctive. Really interesting thinking most people didn't have television, radio still the main way to get entertainment at home. A completely forgotten craft, radio dramas. I never knew they actually had mojor films redone for radio audiences. Another income source for actors. I like listening to these when I drift off to sleep. I wish they didn't include the commercials. Even here, you can't get away from them.

Frank Lovejoy should have been in the original introduction by C.B.!
Nice copy. First heard this on a late-night radio show in the early 1970s.

Easy to mix those Hustons up, I guess; John did direct the movie....this was, btw, one of Walter's then-world-record *three* Academy Award performances (he won Best Supporting Actor all three times). The first was for the little devil 'Scratch' (with the violin) in 'The Devil and Daniel Webster'......
