American Giant Tee Shirts - The Best USA Made Tees

- Опубліковано 27 вер 2024
- American Giant impressed me with their superb hoodie last year, so I was curious about the rest of their products. They’re all made from American grown cotton, all their factories are here in the USA, and their entire supply chain is domestic to the United States. So for all those commenters who are very vocal about supporting US made goods: this is the company for you.

Reviews of clothing, boots, and accessories for men, along with style advice and life philosophy. I've been working with my hands for my entire life as a mechanic, tow truck driver, and eventually a licensed electrician. Being a blue collar guy, I look for certain elements in a product: is it durable? Is it high-quality? Will it perform well over its service life? Whether boots, pants, jackets, or tools I believe it's best to buy once and cry once by getting the best you can afford. With so many options these days, choosing the best product can become a difficult decision, but that's where I come in. Helping you stay stylish, rugged, and handsome.
I don't care where it's made as long as it's made well, and allows you to buy less and buy better.
American Giant agreed to give away one of their tee shirts to a subscriber who comments below! Just let me know what you think about these tees and a winner will be chosen in one week!
Good vid! But slightly on the dark side. Is it just my set?:
Definitely digging the heavyweight pocket T. The navy one looks super clean!
Slub seems to be my favorite!
@@kawlreaper his videos have definitely gotten darker over time. In the beginning they were really bright but now they look more like a film which makes me think it’s intentional idk though.
One whole T-shirt? Wow!
America's economy could really use more people buying American made products during these times. Thanks for the video
Most definitely agreed. Thank you for watching!
$40 before tax and shipping is pretty high.
The problem is the wages paid are not enough and the labour pool is too small. Lots of options for producing in both prestige countries and non-prestige countries. With many African countries looking to increase their manufacturing sectors, that is another frontier that will pose further challenge.
Definitely going to give the pocket tee a try. I'm a die hard Duluth fan but always looking for U.S. domestic brands to support! Thanks for another straight forward honest review Carl!
Yes sir!! Just check the sizing first, Duluth tends to run big and these are pretty true to size and maybe a tad on the slimmer side.
We need more american made clothing goods! Even though I'm a Canadian. :)
I’ve had the basic t’s for a few years, yes you are correct, too short to wear as a undershirt. Stand alone, best t shirt I’ve owned. Great American made company 👍
Right on! I was curious about the durability since that the one thing that just takes time, but I'm glad to hear yours have held up well!
Walmart had a T Shirt made by George about 2 years ago. They were a mid to heavy weight material and they fit me perfectly. I have worn the six I bought almost everyday for these past two years and they still haven't even begun to fray at the collar, amazing! They get washed so much, I'm sure they have faded some but not much and they still hold up very, very well. Of course they don't offer them anymore. Why the heck do they do this?
First time hearing of this brand. They are definitely pricey, but if you made a video about them, you must think they're worth checking out.
Well I appreciate the confidence! Definitely worth checking out, that hoodie is crazy good!
Thank you for this, Carl. I've been on the hunt for American made clothing, and other goods.
I think American Giant may be one of the best options out there. They have a lot of cool options for colors and different models.
If you’re on Facebook join the group “Made in America by American run companies” there’s a bunch of lists of companies that make their stuff in the USA.
there's also a subreddit r/madeinusa
Had so much trouble getting T-shirts that were not so thin enough they wear out in a month. Usually go with Carhartt with the pocket. Tried the American Giant and while the pocket is a little smaller, and a little lighter weight fabric, they are the best fitting for me. They run different colors now and again. Everything you said, spot on.
I’ve been doing classic tees because I didn’t think any companies made any good American made T-shirts. I’ll be buying these next time I need t shirts!
Plese keep me posted and let me know what you think!
In Canada, I've never seen American Giant in any stores but I got a second hand zip up sweater a few years ago and it is one my favourite pieces to wear through fall and winter. Expect it to last me many years
Very cool! There are some kickass Canadian brands too, but I’m not aware of any hoodie/tee companies
@@CarlMurawski would you make a Canadian brands video in the future?
@@Banvillen Very good idea!
Thanks for this review and bringing this American brand to our attention, I’ll be looking at ordering from them
Great video, considering checking this brand out now. Another great end-to-end USA made brand I’ve found is Goodwear USA. Very high quality and built to last.
Swet tailor and Duer are 2 companies that make the most comfortable clothing I’ve ever worn. Would love to see your opinion on them. Duer is Canadian and Swet Tailer is American. Both companies specialize in stretch clothing. Swet makes some dress clothing that feels like you are wearing sweat pants and stretch jeans etc. Duer is more of a casual clothing company but my favorite are their jeans and the Jean jacket is so comfortable as it has stretch denim so you can wear a snug fit and still have full movement. I’m not associated with either company but was a backer for both on Kickstarter years ago when they first started out. They have just gotten better since.
Thank you for the recommendation!
I live in San Francisco and their headquarters are here and I been buying their T-shirt and hoodies when they had a very tiny room with a limited items because everything was done online but now they’re two retail stores in the city and one in Berkeley. I love their stuff I have a lot of tees, hoodies and sweatpants and I love that is made in the US. Btw the limited run of camo hoodies is a must.
It looks worth a try, especially the hoodie. I’ll have to check out your hoodie vid as it would make a good present for my teenage son, who is obsessed with hoodies.
I can't speak highly enough about the hoodie, it's just fantastic. Possibly one of those products he'll have for ten years and it will have been a good companion.
Made in USA is a plus for me. I’m looking for a long term white tee, I definitely want to give this brand a try. It’d be nice to win one.
Hi Carl - can you please confirm what denim shirt you are wearing in this video? It looks great. Thanks.
It's been a while, but I think that the Dixon Rand denim shirt.
@@CarlMurawski - tnx for confirming. I will check it out. Tnx also for your hard work and great content. Cheers from Western Australia.
These and Goodwear are the only Tshirts I wear other than Camber long sleeves.
I’m a big fan of their hoodies and have recommended them to my friends several times, and if Carl likes their shirts then they must be just as fantastic
Thank you for the confidence! I hope time proves me right, if their hoodie is any indication they'll be excellent.
Thanks for the honest review. I am moving to a minimalist, American made wardrobe. I will purchase some of these shirts.
Some great looking tees🙌🏻 simple quality
Yes indeed!
These look absolutely amazing. Would love to get one to match with their hoodies
I have recently purchased a crap ton of t-shirts from various companies (USA, Germany, Japan, Canada). The USA ones I like are Lady White and 3Sixteen.
It really sucks that companies don't sell longer t-shirts. I would love to buy some of these but I'm a tall guy that also tucks so these aren't going to be fun if I try to use them. Everything else sounds appealing but that is such a dealbreaker.
I love American Giant and have been their sweaters, jackets, and shirts for years. But if there's one complaint I have, it's that the fit & sizing can sometimes be inconsistent.
Interesting, so a large isn’t a large across the board?
@@CarlMurawski I have 3 American Giant products, all in 2XL. My hoodie fits me pretty much perfectly; a bit trim, but not tight (though the hood is a bit larger than I'd prefer). The fit of my polo shirt is a bit loose and boxy, but not bad at all. My merino wool pocket tee is a bit tight, as though it were meant to be an undergarment. It's not so tight that I can't wear it over an undershirt, though. I checked the sizing chart for each item and was still a bit surprised at how the polo and pocket Tee fit me.
Admittedly, they are very different products, but the fits are also very different; and not everyone will expect the same company that makes a trim, athletic cut hoodie to also make a more billowy polo shirt. I sure didn't.
@@CarlMurawski Yeah, at least between products. I have a large zip up hoodie, so when I got the mechanics jacket I got a large and it was much larger, so exchange for a medium. I also have a medium pullover, crew sweater, and large baseball jacket, all have a similar fit. The classic tee is boxier and a good length for me, the premium tee has a nicer fit, especially in the sleeves and shoulders, but much longer for some reason. I think I'll also size down to a medium next time cause the large shirts fit a little bigger than my old large shirts I got a few years ago. Again, it's my favorite clothing brand, so I love all the products I've gotten, but I wouldn't expect to get the same fit across the board.
@@toptiercomments840 That's what I've experienced too, and it's seems like they changed their cuts & fits in the last couple years too
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
I’ll have to pick up a few when I pull the trigger on the hoodie. So far my favorites have been from Bravestar. They got a nice heavyweight tee at 8.5oz and it’s a soft one
I want to try that one! How do you like it so far?
@@CarlMurawski They’re awesome! Very substantial without feeling rough. Very minimal shrink, if any, after a few washes too. The sizing runs true for me, I’m 5’ 8-ish depending on what store I’m leaving and 170lbs so a Medium fits me great. They come in a 2 pack, made in the USA, all for less than $50
Kevin Leyva trick is finding them when they aren't all sold. Brave star is great but finding your sizes is shit.
Nice video Carl. I'm not trolling here, but I have to point out that I have been buying and wearing Fruit of the Loom and then Gilden heavyweight (5.6oz) tee shirts for 30+ years. I wear them under my surgical scrubs because they soak up sweat really well. I buy them 12 at a time (mixed styles and colors) for about $3 each delivered. These are made in South and Central America, but they are sold, warehoused and shipped by USA companies in the USA with USA employees. They are of excellent quality. I can buy 10-13 of these for the same price as the American Giant. I am willing to pay extra for made in USA, but not 10-13 times as much. You said yourself that there isn't anything new in tee shirt design. To each his/her own. But how much better can the AG tee be than the Gilden? Again, not trolling. Just offering another point of view. Thanks for doing what you do, Carl!
Fair enough man, I know you always offer thoughtful (and hilarious at times) comments. This is why I always ask for others input. My lifestyle is just one in millions, so this kind of feedback is very welcomed. I think the real difference is in feel with these tees vs Gildan or similar. Those tend to have an odd scratchy feeling until you wash them a few dozen times or so. I don't really like having polyester against my skin either, even though it may be all in my head. We even switched over to 100% cotton pajamas for our kids because I just don't know what a textile that's entirely synthetic will do over time. Again, it may be a little "tin foil hat" of me but there it is.
Psst! Hey dude, you won a tee from American Giant! Send me an email at: info@carlmurawski.com and I'll get you hooked up. Congratulations!
I love my American Giant products. The quality is excellent, as is the fact that they use an all-USA supply chain. I only wish they'd make a merino wool polo.
That would be awesome! I know they had a wool tee shirt once upon a time.
Side seams are good. It means better fitment than a tubular T-shirt.
Awesome video! Thank you!
Thank you for watching!
The hodie is "shockingly," good. I have a classic and a slub tee and the latter is definitely my favorite. The tees are certainly no hoodie. The fit is a bit too long and boxy for me at 6ft tall 180lb. I buy a size smaller from American Giant for trimmer fit. Their catalog always shows people doing either vocational or skill work to advertise their produc, so I should've known the fit isn't going to be contemporary (slimmer and more fashion'y?!). If you want to support domestic manufacturing and have a solid no bells and whistles looser fit go to T-shirt then these are a no brainer option (just don't expect the hodie quality).
Definitely going to give these a try soon!
Love the hoodie I should try the tee shirt
The hoodie is a standout product for sure. Excellent design and build quality.
Just ordered a classic v neck in black. Thank you for the video. I'm always looking for American made goods. Even if I pay 3 times for it, that's a difference I'm willing to pay.
Always looking for a quality summer T, and your always dead on with your reviews. So, this is a brand I’m def gonna take a shot at.
Nice Iron Heart shirt. I have the same one.
Thank you! I like it, though Iron Hearts sizing is all over the place.
@@CarlMurawski yes I have that and a flannel both in xl. The denim shirt is slightly more roomy than the flannel.
They seem really high quality, I’ll have to check one out
Meat definitely!
Hey Carl, have you had a chance to review the Filson merino wool tees? They're about twice the price of these, but they're my GOAT tees and they're VERY good. High quality, don't shrink too much in the wash, and are better than cotton for moisture wicking.
Hey man, I haven't. To be honest I'm a bit turned off by Filson lately. They just keep disappointing me with their prices and strange products. Still, there are some diamonds in the rough for sure and maybe I'll have to give one of these a try.
the Carhart and Duluth tees are pretty substantial and the Duluth have the longer shirt so you can tuck it all in and nothing gets exposed. as a shirt, how does AG rank with those?
Worth a look for me
For sure!
Whats the new denim jacket youre rockin there my friend?Great reviews as usual keep em coming!
very cool. great video
Why is it my wallet knows every time you drop a video?? I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect T and these seem like a solid USA made option. I’ll give it a shot.
😂 I’m sorry!!! I think you’ll be impressed though, especially with those premium tees. There is a coupon code too I think.
I'd like to hear you take on BUFFALO JACKSON briefcase attacé???
Have you tried hemp shirts? Cotton is the biggest danger to fresh water drain too the west. Plus the pesticides needed.
How do these fit compared to a Carhartt Shirt? I wear an xl in carhartt shirts but they fit kind of boxy.
Definitely smaller. The Duluth, Carhartt, and Patagonia workwear fit is almost a full size big. If you're going to approximate your size, I'd go a full size down in American Giant.
Hey Carl could you do a review on wranglers line of work clothes they’re rather cheaper but I haven’t been able to find anything on them. Thanks for the great content!
I have a few of the American Giant T’s and I like them, but to your point it’s just a t-shirt and nothing unique about it. That said I like buying American made products and this is a great brand.
Yeah, its hard to improve on such a simple design without excessive details or features.
You had me until you said the prices! Tough to swallow for a work shirt to destroy.
I definitely would recommend getting dedicated work shirts with workout shirts underneath. I used to always wear a duluth flannel with an adidas workout shirt underneath. Keep it loosely buttoned for breathability, the workout shirt helps with sweat and you won't damage a nice t shirt. Plus, you get more bang for your buck on workout shirts, which are almost as expensive but nowhere near as durable
Otherwise I just a multipack of neon color shirts on amazon and wear them until they fall apart, then they become shop rags
Can you do a video on henleys?
Most definitely!
Awesome brand, awesome video!
I own several USA made products as Nicks boots and redwing boots but when you can buy 12 shirts for $25 from Amazon there is a hard battle for expensive shirts regardless of their quality
I know, that’s true. It’s kind of the whole Walmart effect, where you could buy three of something for the price of one good one…
The Walmart George brand T-shirt’s are pretty good for the price. I got one tshirt from American Giant…and I don’t see a huge difference.
As usual, a thoughtful review. The hoodie at $118 feels overpriced. The tees seem in the right value sweet spot. I personally like the upper end tees and sweats from Landsend. The hoodie is a nonstarter but the tees look like the value is there.
Fair enough! I think if you got one in your hands you may change your mind. It's leagues above any other hoodie I have, and actually less expensive than some which just aren't nearly as good. If you have an opportunity to feel on in person I'd love to know your thoughts.
@@CarlMurawski Are they sold in any brick and mortar store? Your suggestion is excellent.
Smart man ❤
Taylor stitch breaks my heart
Yeah, same here. They used to be great
Nice IH shirt.
Thanks man! This is the one I’m using for the Indigo Invitational Redline Rally
I may have looked at these t-shirts but I’m concerned about the length: I’m a tall guy and am concerned with the length: but, I love that they are made in the USA:
If I'm going to spend $38 on a shirt, it isn't going to be a T-shirt. Just out of curiosity are there any slim fit T-shirts out there ? I also already have a lifetime supply of T-shirts from athletic events/races.
So which T shirt in regards to length would you recommend?
It depends, do you want a longer hem? In that case the Ariat Rebar Tees are great. Shorter hem? I like the Lady White 2-pack.
@@CarlMurawski longer. The problem is I have things on my belt. If the shirt is a little on the short side it usually gets caught up and exposes whatever is on the belt.
Try Gustin
The have a nice women’s line too 👍🏻💕
Sorry the Taylor Stitch Heavy Bag tees don’t work for you. They are some of my favorite base layers during the winter. I only do the long sleeve henleys, the t shirts are a bit too burly as a short sleeve shirts
American made? Dont mind me, gona buy a few
Username checks out!
I have an abnormally long torso so it looks like these are out for me. Sad because they look like really good shirts.
Yeah man, I think you'd be disappointed in the short length of these sadly.
You should review some Canadian products
I just did a video on Naked and Famous, and there's a new Canadian brand I'd like to try called Anian.
Union Made 6.1 ounces of American Made T-Shirts. Find them at Heddles.
nice video\
Thumbs up! So..for the people who lile a little longer shirts...still recommend the Taylor Stitch? Any American brand names?
For longer tees I like the Duluth ones but they’re not made here. I’m drawing a blank on good USA options, but there’s a small company called (something) sportswear who make tees, sweatshirts, and socks.
@@CarlMurawski thanks! I always have something on my belt so I like my shirts a littlenon the longer side....
3sixteen makes their tees in a long cut. They do run trim, so you may need to size up. At 6'0, 195ish, a medium feels like a small and a large is a hair too large IMO.
I want to support American made products when i become millionaire.
Need a wallet video
Indeed. I have one coming up you may enjoy!
Hemp Taylor slim disaster 😮
My biggest issue with American Giant, is their name. They call themselves American Giant, but don't offer big and tall sizing. Kinda sus.
$40 USD shipping to Canada for a $48 shirt. I love so much of the content and the products you promote but shipping recently has made 90% of the items unrealistic to purchase.
I'm not angry, just disappointed.
I have mixed feelings about American Giant. I have owned their polos, henleys, waffle sweaters, jackets in the past and they have all prematurely worn out. 🤷🏽♂️
Really? Where do they tend to wear out most? Like I mentioned, this is my first product outside of their hoodie which is almost bombproof.
@@CarlMurawski The polos developed holes underneath the arms. Both the henleys and sweaters faded badly. I had a jacket that I could not get the wrinkles out to save my life.
As I’m not in America l really don’t care where it’s made , however l won’t buy an Chinese made product if I can .
Lady White T’s .. cut and sewn in L.A. … so much sturdier, better cotton and construction, than American Giant … my two pennies
Fair enough! I love Lady White
$30-50 for a t shirt is insane. Considering how many other t shirts are US made at a much lower price, that definitely doesn't explain or justify the cost. If they were made of wool that would be one thing, but not cotton. I do like supporting US manufacturing, but this is high priced for any t shirt. The fact there are even more expensive brands doesn't change that. Not like you're talking about jackets or something, where high cost is more justifiable due to superior construction.
Interesting take, what are some of the other USA brands you like? Most I know of come in around this price like Flint and Tinder. I'm always interested in hearing more about brands that may be lesser known.
@@CarlMurawski The only ones coming to mind right now are All American Clothing, Royal Apparel and some Filson t shirts, (and I think American Apparel still has some US manufacturing too) but I've seen a lot of others too over the years. Other than jeans, T shirts are probably the most likely type of clothing to be made in the USA. I've seen US made t shirts in big box stores like Wal Mart even once in a while. Never seen that with any other kind of clothing other than socks. I know it's just my experience, but it seems like higher prices in t shirts are usually more of a designer/logo thing than the supplier or country of origin.

Absolutely love the hoodie and 100% cotton tshirts. I live in the UK and have never paid this kind of premium for tshirts plus shipping to the UK. BUT the colour holds and they feel great after many washes. Trying to find an equivalent in the UK. But nothing compares after a few washes and wares.
USA made along with supply chain for the win. IMHO, I prefer to buy domestic. Also, tshirts are pretty same design and if you can afford it, buy domestic.
I agree completely
For tucked I get the Duluth Longtails which give room and length so that you can say no to crack, and since they are often on sale they can be a great buy just under $20 bucks. But I've felt American Giant hoodie is so good that just about any new products they come up with are worth at least a look and if the quality is comparable, US made makes it worth a fiver more.
Yes, I absolutely agree. If they could made optional "long tail" tees or something, I'd be psyched.
I’ve been wearing the short and long sleeve Tee’s from Flint and Tender and I really like them. They are also organic cotton and made in USA, but I like to buy American and will definitely give these a try. Thanks for posting.
I just got a hoodie and it is absolutely amazing. Everyone should on 1 of these. Sorry to hear that the T. shirts are a little short. I am tall and there's nothing worse than havening to tuck the back of your T-shirt in every time you've been over.
They look great, my favorites at college were Champion t-shirts
Pocket T! You have my attention.
What about fit? I must be “about” your size; seems I am usually just between a L and a XL. Invariably when I get a large that fits nice a few months of the wife’s washing and it’s too short and fits like a glove 🙁
So far these are all pretty standard while falling a little on the slim or athletic cut side of things. Definitely size down from Carhartt or Duluth.
The T-Shirt that really wowed me was the "one bag T" from Pistol Lake. Seriously check them out.
Wow, I've never even heard of that one! I'll check it out for sure, thank you for the recommendation.
Please do a review on the Thursday boots wingtip color #77. Please do it if you can.
No promises but I’ll do what I can!
Mine still works 😂
Can you wear these as unisex?
They invented the T sf tee new giant wow 🎉😂❤
I’m in the process of replacing some shirts in my closet and I’d love to see some replies with good recommendations.
Here’s what I look for in clothing products:
1. Organic/non-synthetic fabrics mostly
2. If there are some synthetic materials, they must be fully recycled/reclaimed
3. I’m 6’3” tall, so a longer split or curved hem is ideal but anything longer than average is fine
4. Made in USA (preferred, not mandatory)
5. The manufacturer is considered to have responsible/sustainable core values
Any suggestions?
hell yea! bring back American made!
One purchase at a time! We need to shift our mindset to having fewer, better made things.
Awesome jacket
Thanks man!
I have Unionline heavyweight t shirts with pocket there USA made and made by union workers i got mine on All seasons uniforms and there honestly priced i got mine for 10.50 a shirt but prices always change
I made the mistake of giving them my email, and they started sending me three to four promotional emails PER DAY. I just made my third attempt to unsubscribe. I’m be filing some kind of spam complaint against them soon if they keep up this #@!*
American Giant is my go to for sweatshirts and t-shirts. I own a few slub t-shirts from Warehouse and a few loop wheel t-shirts from Real McCoy, and my American Giant t-shirts are right there with those Japanese companies in terms of material, design, and construction.
