- Gangs are always looking for new ways to launder their money, and in cities like London, Birmingham and Manchester, using money mules has become one of their favorite methods.
Young and vulnerable people are convinced by criminals, often on social media, to let them use their personal bank accounts to receive and send on their illicit earnings. However, there can be serious consequences for those who get involved, from being locked out of the financial system, to even serving time in prison. This crime is still massively under-reported, which in part is what leaves many young people so vulnerable.

09:44 How international gangs launder illegal cash
VICE investigates this new and booming form of crime and meets the recruiters, the police, and people who have inadvertently got caught up in it.

My best friend at our former school (15 years old then) was dealing drugs for some pocket money in a city of Belgium (Flanders) from a big network of gangs across Europe for a year.
The police caught him and send him to a Jeugdinrichting (Youth detention center) for a few months, he got released after that without any major implications.
He told me he brought a PS4 and a lot of candy/food with the money he got, the police let him keep the PS4 and the little money that was left over, they also didn't leave any permanent records on him because he still didn't understand the seriousness of his actions then.

"American Greed"....unfortunately money is a tool that we all need to maneuver through this thing called "Life", and we get caught up trying to stay afloat!!! 🤷♀
Soy de Bolivia ver tu video me ayudo mucho por que llevo mas de un año investigando ayuda
Another amazing content... Thanks for the knowledge. This is happening everywhere..
I just want to Thank VICE for this documentary literally watched this video last week and today it prepared me for a money launderer trying to scam me to be a money mule Stay Motivated and thank you again VICE knowledge is power 👊🏾💯
regular people will finally understand how important having a bank account is and how bad it is to be blacklisted and your credit score shut down, all because you wanted a couple of grand you could have got a job and worked for, or started your own business and built up.
Christ I have money going in and out my account all the time so this ain't gonna look suspicious at all. Might have to look more into this. Thanks for the info vice
This is why I work so hard to make an honest living. I am currently renting tables, chairs, tents, linen, props, setting up dessert tables for all occasions, and more to afford a venue next year. I have been documenting it on my UA-cam channel. It's hard work, but I know it will pay off in the end.
Work smarter, not harder. No point in working like a dog trying to make ends meet, when the wealthy just jack up the prices from inflation. Further slowing you down on your goal of financial freedom.
Good job. Keep it going.
@@rohailrules you're right. Thank you. Everything is getting more expensive!
@@proculusjulius7035 thank you. Woke up on a mission. I am determined!
@@TheLifeofJenelle more power to you 😎
Vice news interviews everyone involved in the crime and it seems more of a game in which you see players of both parties playingg and then getting interviewed about the game (i love it)

Vice don't denounce the crime, they promote it!

@Daniel Garrett Vice is the king of misinformation what you on about.
I like the squirtle background 💙
The thumbnail is hilarious. GO WINNERS!
First time I’ve watched vice in years. Miss the documentaries!!
In the old days when you arrived in a foreign country at the train station or the harbour, the forex exchange office always gave better exchange rates when wearing balaclavas so this kids are not totally lost.
Why was that ? 🧐
ill never understand why scammers think its worth it to flex their stolen stuff online, not worth the risk just move in silence
I see this on snap chat all the time. People of send pictures or videos of stacks of money and ask you if you want to make money. I’ve even had Women claim they are a sugar momma and just need your bank account. Don’t ever give out Personal info period! This goes mostly to the young ones. Protect yourself even with pictures or conversations. Screenshots are forever.

Shits been there before Snap. Have a friends who “works”. Lemme tell you it’s some many gullible ppl out there smh. IF ITS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE.
Don’t trust it
That why we need life lock or Id shield to protect our identity. Best proof of evidence is screenshot!

Those people aren't money laundering, they legit scam people
When I exchange thousands of dollars I always make sure to do it highly suspiciously on public streets masked in broad daylight.

Same I also bring a long knife in my hand ✋
Covid makes mask normal my guy
@@kleptomagz565 yea self defense also makes knifes normal
@@kleptomagz565 hmm yes i know so many people wearing bali's because of covid, how conspicuous!
Dude was covered telling the story and the house gonna say his name right after the interview 😂😂😭
Just because you didn't get caught withdrawing the stolen money from your account today, doesn't mean the law won't be knocking on your door waiting for an explanation tomorrow.
Once you knowingly hand over your bank information to be used in the commitment of just one crime you are just legally responsible as those that profit from the scam for any illegal transactions made with your details.
So this is to assume in a perfect world where every child grew up with a perfect veteran lawyer experience of knowledge then sure.
such a fire documentary

This is the kind of videos from vice I love to see
in the same video man went from talking to the bad guys to talking to the feds
2:22 - 2:33 I feel like this should be a personal conversation and I shouldn't be hearing it 😭
I had no idea this was happening with money! I mean I knew about drug mules on county lines but not about this! Very interesting and very sad for the people “mules” who are caught up in it!
If I've got 15 grand in a bag, the last thing I'm doing is walking down the street with a bally on.
@Jo Jo A balaclava.
That’s what I was thinking. I’d laugh so hard seeing them.
well they probably don't usually do that, I assume they had it on because VICE was filming. if they're being followed by cameras that's less sus.
