I took all the AP courses for college credit, and scored a 33 on the ACT.
Was never a drinker so I gravitated towards pot. People who sold pot back in college weren’t just always nice hippies, but dealers of any drug..
I believe pot, which I enjoy regularly, is/was a gateway drug bc an illegal market introduces harder drugs more easily. Pot itself isn’t, but when it was illegal and more criminal charges, the chances of trying something else is high

This is sad. I take IV Ketamine medically for CPTSD and Depression with a doctor in Washington State and it honestly has changed my life for the better.
Drugs have the ability to heal people but they can be equally as harmful, especially without medical supervision.
I have experienced a plethora of horrible side effects from many different antidepressants, while on the flip side I receive medical marijuana which helps a ton with my pain, as well with my occasional Ketamine boosters every 9 months, so I know drugs aren’t all just black and white like some say they are, though that also doesn’t mean they can’t just as easily be abused and harmful.
Hopefully one day the worlds governments will learn to focus more on studying, decriminalizing, and regulating substances rather than demonizing anyone who uses them.
Maybe then there wouldn’t be things like “Ket Bladder” and drug cartels wouldn’t be able to distribute products cut with unknown often fatal adulterants all for a quick buck.

There is no such thing as a ketamine addiction. You simply have an addictive personality. It's probably not your sole vice. Ketamine is out of your system quickly, and does not compel you to consume more. So you've managed to abuse a drug that is actually difficult to abuse. Congratulations. PS I know something about this, having been part of the NYC nightclub scene that popularized ketamine in the early 1990s.

One night he was alone and decided to ball out like he did when he was frequently using like a couple Gs. He was found the next day in a hotel room. Man was sober for over a year only for one night to change it all.

I also like that there's docs like these about drugs many young people consider 'safe' -- when I was in school what they taught us about was mostly weed, super hard drugs like heroin and meth, but not a lot about party drugs. I think that's a big reason why especially uni kids tend to think these are safer, not as addictive or whatever.

Amazing video. Thanks for drawing attention to this vice! I was a ket addict between the ages of 17-18. I vividly remember staying at a friends house on the sofa one evening, and his dad walked into the living room just as I was doing my morning line. He didn’t say anything but I realised that day K had completely warped my perception of what was normal.
I did about 2.5-3g a day and the cramps/bladder symptoms were unbearable. I’m over 3 years clean now from daily use (with a short relapse early this year unfortunately) but I have to express my life has changed immeasurably for the better.
I definitely subscribe to the NA philosophy “once an addict, always an addict”. I know I could never trust myself to touch a drug in moderation again. I’ve quit drinking too for that very reason.
If you’re someone looking for a reason to quit - please take my comment into consideration. When I was an addict I was sick, clinically depressed, suicidal, and barely coping with my job or relationship.
Sober me is successful, works hard, has emotional capacity for when things go wrong, and can tackle struggles head on whilst also having Grace and patience with myself. ❤

People aren't created and meant to use drugs and you dont need drugs to feel right. That's part of these people's addictions the drugs make them think they need them to feel right when in reality nobody needs drugs to feel right.

      I feel absolutely alright when I don't smoke, I just can't sleep.

I was horrifically depressed since childhood. It was relentless. I assumed it would ultimately end me somehow. About twelve years ago I randomly accepted the offer from a friend of a few doses of mushrooms. I did them two consecutive nights alone. First night was pretty mild. The second night? Wow. I saw my depression from every angle, realized much. Next day: depression totally gone. Never came back, never coming back. It's like it's a forest far away I can remember, and could probably find again with enough effort, but it has zero impact on anything in my life or mind. They honestly saved my life and improved it immensely. I never did them again, either. I wish there was a good, organized way to administer them to people who would benefit from them.

As an older man that has used dope and mushrooms to escape the reality of my terrible childhood trauma I can say, "there is no escape".
Instead it is through mindful practices, "what it is that you focus on" that allows you to make a truly rewarding life.
It's not "what you get from life" but what you give to life that brings the real happiness.
I've realised that judgement of others treatment towards you if other's are cruel or harmful towards you or of the negative narrative of life that is truly destructive to you. When you practice judgement or seek justice it's forms a cruel self judgement that debiltates you.
More self hatred, therefore more self harm.
Drugs actually stop you being able to use "your mind" THE ONLY ONE YOU HAVE from being useful to you.
Unfortunately the world is so bad and people so unfair, cruel, vicious, predatory, and harmful. This is all learned behaviour, we feel like we have to protect ourselves from further harm.
If you start to make a practice of finding the beauty and wonder in the moment I assure you you can become wonderful, beautiful, kind, and happy. Therefore creating in you, and those around you wonderful reality.
    John
Edit: I'll add, have a look at abandonment theory, everyone ever knew used drugs and alcohol for escape had this commonality.
I actually believe we all have the issue to some degree. I have, and the work I've done on it has been rewarding.

As a medical professional it’s absolutely wild seeing someone insufflate 1000mg of ketamine in one sitting, I mean for someone 165lbs or 74kg were would push anywhere from 100-250mg depending on the person, other medications, etc but for the average 165lbs person a 150mg dose via IV would have you at surgical anesthsia levels 100% and within seconds usually less the 1 minute, so he is doing ten times that and just hanging out!!! But that goes to show you how significant drug tolerance can be, same with opioids. I’ve seen patients that would inject 160mg of OxyContin, that dose could kill several people without a opioid tolerance, however all this aside ketamine is really one of the safest dissociative anesthetics out there, preserves breathing reflex, mild increase in BP an bronchodilation

Im in remission for my addiction to opiates and ive seen a lot of similarities between opiate addicts and k addicts. The best advice I can give people is to just stay away from all of it. You dont ever want to get to a point where you no longer know how to live sober and itll eventually get like that. then youre trapped and it takes a hell of a lot of willpower and some plain old luck to get out, before some real damage is done.

Thank you for showing the addictive perspective of K, I’m so tired of hearing about the benefits constantly and never being warned about the dangers. I don’t like speaking about my addiction but if even one person reads this and decides to listen to my advice it will be worth it. I genuinely never believed I could become addicted to k or that it could harm me, I’ve learned the hard way and 5 years later I don’t know how to get out of the hole. Furthermore the support for k addicts in this country is awful, most doctors don’t understand the damage or addiction potential of the drug meaning I’ve been to hospital before with k cramps and they’ve told me it’s ‘anxiety’. overcome this addiction as I have spent the last few years telling myself that this will be the last bump only to relapse the next day. I’m lucky that I’ve avoided bladder issues until now but I know it’s only a matter of time. For me, the main reason I use k is to treat my mental illness, I feel in part let down by the system which has offered me no support with my personality disorder since I turned 18 except giving me some pills to take. I want to stop but I feel like I can’t because it’s all I have as a safety net against my mental illness, but it’s a self fulfilling prophecy as the k makes me more depressed long term. To anyone using recreationally who has started using alone, using every time they drink, spending more than they can afford on k, getting any type of pain from it or has started building up a huge tolerance where they need more than a g to get high- please stop before you get in too deep. If I’m not able to beat this I at least want to know I helped another other individual choose a better path for themselves. This addiction will cost you jobs, relationships even with family, it will lose you friends and the respect of your peers, it will have you rolling on the bathroom floor in agony and sat on the loo for hours unable to piss. You will start to forget things, you won’t remember whole periods of time, faces, people, you will question reality and your own perception of yourself. You will no longer gain pleasure from anything except the obtaining and using of k and even then you will realize one day the horrible truth that even the k doesn’t help you anymore, and by then its already too late. It’s like the most toxic relationship because you want to get out but you’re trapped and if you have even one moment of weakness you’re back with that person. K was there for me during breakups and deaths and divorces and it felt so safe and good and now it’s the root of my problems. I never have money to spend on nice things for myself I have to spend it all on k, I work so hard just to waste it all on drugs and feel horrible about it. I’m sure a lot of people are reading this thinking just quit then, and I hope that I find that strength, I am truly trying, but it is so tiring living in a brain that is constantly trying to hurt you. Sometimes I just don’t wanna carry on. To anyone suffering with this right now I don’t have the answer but you aren’t alone and if you’re just now starting to build a habit please please put the k down before you end up deep in the k hole. Peace and love x

We used to call it "hippie crack", because we noticed that the majority of people using it frequently (and becoming addicted) were people in the psychedelic scene, especially in the trance and psytrance scene. They would often have dreadlocks and a very alternative way to view the world, society and their place in it (which is totally fine, I agree with that up to a point) so a large part of them that I saw back then, were all the same type of people. Myself and many others were the same for many years, abusing ketamine as it’s so accessible, cheap and easy to do. Dealers jump with joy when someone new gets hooked on their gear, as they know the user will come back everyday, buying more amounts every week.
Archie was the nicest guy in the world and probably still is, the party scene, drug scene, mixed with this idea of “Freedom” has tainted his life and many others, thinking they can do it forever! Two people in the last 6 years have died from drug related incidents, just from my school, countless more have perished in the surrounding areas too. People need to be educated on drug use and addiction, until then the situation will stay rife.

It's a strange issue, they don't get paid enough and they are subjected to some of the saddest things every single day. Watching animals come in sick until they're dead a few years later, and the cycle continues. Over and over and over again. @@officialshinky Yeah like you are never going to die from smoking weed but it can change you in similar way that alcohol does. So when person is not high they are kind of sedated and can't think or talk properly. Recovery from this is probably difficult.
Any drug if you want to use it needs to be done in moderation and you need to take into account what it does to your body and give your body time to recuperate between uses. Another good thing about waiting between uses is that highs and experience is way better especially the case with drugs that affect your brain chemistry.
I personally don't enjoy any type of depressant(except alcohol here and there) or dissociative drug like ketamine for example and my drug of choice is uppers like speed and mdma so I can only use that stuff every 4-5 months minimum because it is hard on body, and luckily those drugs don't cause body addiction. As they say less is more.

yet to finish this but it hurts to see my friends heavily abuse drugs - for it to be so accessible and normalised too - and i hate to feel controlling/judgy, telling them they probably shouldn't do it so often, but it is their life. drawing the line is so difficult

When you always compare the amount of Ketamin to knock out a horse and what humans consume: There is a HUGE difference between intravenous injections and sniffing, for ketamine.

This report is the final push that opens my eyes. It's heartbreaking.
I used to consciously take long breaks, but since the summer it has become more frequent and I have trivialized how I am slipping into an addiction.
I have to pee more often now.
Last weekend I was without it and I realized that I feel good and can have the states that I use ketamine for without it - creativity, openness and focus.
Still, I bought it again when I wasn't feeling well. It's the seemingly easy way.
And I don't want to demonize the drug, it has a lot of potential in the therapeutic field.
But I want to stop lying to myself and 'treating' myself and believing I can only feel and make 'good' art extensively on ketamine.
    Please wish me strength.
I send love, strength and success to all those affected and not affected. Thanks also to everyone who contributed to the report.

I hadn't heard of the bladder problems before... good info to get out there. I know that some places are using ketamine for therapy. Interestingly, they do exactly what some of the students were talking about - they dose you with ketamine (IV, in a controlled environment) and have you watch Planet Earth. It can apparently break through medication-resistant clinical depression, aid with anxiety (long-term, like 6 months without anxiety after a couple sessions), etc. Definitely an interesting drug.

I've used ketamime for 17 years pretty much every day. I have only ever had minimal amounts of very mild irritation. If you take care of yourself properly and drink a hell of a lot of water and eat good food you won't get major problems. Look after yourself and remember to drink before during and after.
