I discovered her in 2018 im like wow !
Having had the incredible good fortune to watch a lot of brilliant talent on the KEXP channel over the last couple of years it continues to surprise me how much brilliant talent graces their studio. Miya Folick us going on repeat for the next while. :)
I am completely, madly and utterly in love with her voice.... Wow.
Thank you KEXP for bringing greater exposure to brilliant yet obscure young artistes like Miya herself, as well as delighting us with such beautifully set-up and well-recorded live performances!
First time I've heard of them, fantatsic - great performance and great sound.

Beautiful, especially 'Thingamajig' at the end.
I love her she is so great.
Love over my dead body
If it wasn't for kexp, I swear to god I'd have nothing to listen to.
Amazing surprise !!! pure vibe !!!
Brilliant artist. She has always given me huge Kate Miller-Heidke vibes... I never saw this video, but it makes so much sense that she was training for opera, originally. Great range -- not afraid to go high and then plummet in the same song. Every song is a ride.
Such a great performance. I totally love this! Thanks KEXP
Amazing voice. Great vibe. I love you ;]

fantastic. Premonitions is one of my favourite albums of 2018 and it just gets better the more i hear it. the performance here of Deadbody was so stirring.
I love the flux in her voice.
I am a fan. Torn, see Miya or Lez Zep on Friday night
Zoey D as the host I see
Miya; is gorgeous
lovely, what a good performance, great balance with the band and Miya's voice...please heavenly (if heaven was a good thing)
This is so good, first time hearing her.
The pandemic stalled her breakout music career to play big world music festivals so if you like her music show to her upcoming shows Miya Folic is great live performer the interview segment took too long
Mad fan but NO!!
Wonderful. Loved it and will keep being with Miya and her musical journey. As a musician I love her approach... Free.
Angelic.

the host sounds a lil' crazy...! x
no one wanted to listen to me year after year when I begged and begged to be listened to. listen! thank you Miya!
A modern, funky Soushie and The Banshees!!! Nice.
Such a nice voice
yesssss love her. WHEN is sasami gonna be up on the channel though?!
‘Premonitions’ is my favorite song by Miya, she performs it so eloquently & ethereal!
How come we hear things that aren't played?
There's a computer to the left of the drummer that's probably running a click track. The band can hear a metronome and some ambient/aux tracks get sent to the mix to help fill in the sound and tighten up the set. Check out programs like Ableton or MainStage for a better explanation.
Its already been a year!! You were so great @ your Barborz set!
Coffee bong tunes,thanks....
First time seeing these guys!
Fantastic
Very very good.
I could see this being in a phone commercial in the near future.
Magnifique voix !
Awesome

I adooooore this !
Интересная команда.
Amazing!!!!
Gorgeous great !!! Best wishes to you.
These songs are great, but backing tracks totally sap the appeal of live music to me. I miss the days when musicians accepted that their live sets weren't gonna sound exactly like the album, it makes for a more dynamic performance and overall it sounds more organic. I mean I can tolerate it in obscure solo singers or rappers (though I prefer when their DJ does something other than pressing play), but when you have a full band backing you, you shouldn't need playback. It makes me distrust everything else. Is her voice really that good or is she singing through a million plugins? How much is the drummer actually playing? I don't like to have to think about this things. I prefer the mix to be a little thinner or to see more people on stage than have a computer do so much of the work. If you play music that CAN'T be replicated by live instruments use computers by all means, but in rock and pop I feel it kills the vibe and energy. "Born in the wrong generation" rant over.
Patricio Fernandez Backing tracks are a perfect way to make it sound like the album, when I hear a band using tracks I can tell the difference between live and recorded because I see all the work that they’re doing on stage, and sometimes when a band is new on the scene, it’s impossible to afford tons of gear and hire five more musicians to replicate everything. Backing tracks are just rhythmic and melodic, the rest is live in almost 90% of these live settings. And she’s not using plugins, the backing tracks are separate from the vocal channel, and it’s not called playback man, those are auxiliar vocal harmonies. There are lots of bands using backing tracks and having amazing results, like Tears For Fears, The Human League, David Byrne, Toro y Moi, Massive Attack…
@@floyd904 Well said
