Here's what you do in Rumble Arena 2. You get 3 friends. Then you select Gatomon and the Cannery. You are never going to digivolve. Just spam hypnotism and chuck them into the canning machine. They will try to stop you, but they will always stab each other in the back. Just keep hypnotizing and canning. You will then have to find 3 new friends.
Holy shit finally!! Someone is covering Rumble Arena 2 and actually played and understand it. Everybody need to appreciate Rumble Arena 2 more, people are finally starting to see the light
LET ME TELL YOU almost 20 years playing this game i cant tell you how much im still obsessed and how I've waited for you to drop this video after watching you review for the first one I remember spending hours as a kid trying to find some hidden secrets on youtube in the game, like a secret character or something I love this game to pieces it was a dream for me (you made me pay attention and appreciate the soundtrack more)🇧🇷
The sheer panic and confusion as a kid when the announcer said "Piñata Party!!!" I hold more nostalgia for the first Rumble Arena game but 2 was definitely the better one! Now if only I hadn't sold it to GameStop as a kid.
I miss this game so much. My mum asked if she could give my ps2 away to her friends son since i didn't play it anymore, i said she could but i want to keep some games and the memory card. I came home from school one day and she gave away EVERYTHING, ps2, controllers, eye toy camera, guitar hero with guitars and 30+ games. I have never been the same since 😭
First time viewer here, I must say the editing on this video is incredibly done. Very impressive transition sequences, it adds a lot nice retro style. Awesome, dude!
@@aokyoutsuki7744 I Sent An Email To Bamco,To Release Digimon Battle Spirit 1.5 And 2.0 On The Switch,With More Characters Like Chronomon,Lucemon,And More!
I agree with you and your friends 100% Over the years I've never understood why some people will claim the first one was better (besides nostalgia ofc), when to me Rumble Arena 2 was in so many ways superior- and to make sure I was not bias because I grew up with 2, I went out of my way to play RA1 and yeah, it was charming and as a Digimon fan I liked it, but in multiple ways not as good. Rumble Arena 2 was so fun as a kid and with friends/family. Still hoping someday we can get a new proper iteration in the series. Might be rather unlikely due to how Bandai treats Digimon, but I still hope 😮💨
The one area where the first is better in is unlockables. The characters you could unlock made it more rewarding to play. Though on everything else the second one is better.
Have no idea that some fans claim that rumble arena is better than 2?..as a long time digimon consumer of all forms of media (with a little bit of vpet), I whole heartedly agree with you that this smash clone was one of the best party games you can have dumb fun in the ps2. I literally invested in a multitap for my ps2 to enjoy this party fun with my brothers during our childhood growing up together (along with digimon world 4 but this party game is way more fun). There's this charm to it that made it so much better than rumble arena, whether it may be the chaos happening in the screen to the joy of us ganging up on one another which you can't do in rumble arena as that is only confined to two players. It also didn't feel as broken as rumble arena where when one side suddenly evolves, said party gets access to a slew of high damaging or long range moves that just snowballs on the unevolved side. Here it was a matter of juggling the evolved party as their moves are still manageable albeit slightly upgraded. I also like the fact that you pointed out the randomness of the items or events thrown in along with very bizarre map mechanics that made every game feel surprisingly refreshing due to how map choices and character choices can result in wholly chaotic but fun situations. On the contrary, I cant't agree with you more that the OST of Rumble 2 was the only downside that is very noticeable moving on from the nice soundtrack that was in rumble arena. The game would have been perfect if it had digimon's ost inside. The lore and the maps design also didnt really make any sense to me as I can't justify if we have ever seen any of these maps appear in the anime series or even other games. It would have been cool if we got to experiece maps that were featured from the anime series like Odaiba or even File Island. My only wish is to see a successor that faithfully follows this to a tee along with more characters that were in rumble arena and not that dumpster fire of a mess that was all star rumble.
I think the fans that claim the ps1 game being better is 1. They're older players 2. It stuck to the anime 3. The average audience for the first game, grew out of liking digimon/Pokémon cuz hormones, so rumble arena 2 was on nobody's radar lol. I enjoy both but love 2 for the chaos of 4 player supremacy.
God, what a beloved throwback. Renting this from Blockbuster stole my attention. Revisted the game on my hacked wii as a young adult. Brought it over to my nephews place to play with them. I was hella toxic with the spam. It had gotten so bad that both of my nephews teamed up to kill me cuz i was so elusive and had my live stocks as Gallatmon on that one western map. They both were at their last stock on low health. They had me cornered from above and below. I notice i had my ultimate, pressed the button and fucking obliterated them. The explosive death sound, their raging reactions had me in tears. Love this game and the memories it gave me along the way. Ps, they refused to play after that day.
Obviously this is far from common knowledge but this game is only Rumble Arena 2 outside of Japan. In Japan it's Digimon Battle Chronicle and has no link to Rumble Arena. Since they're the same genre it's definitely fine to compare them but I wouldn't quite call it a follow up
Nah that's actually a great point. I knew about the name difference but I don't think I considered that they weren't even technically in the same sub series, kind of like how the Battle Spirit games are very much their own thing. Appreciate you bringing it up cause o did overlook that
I played this game in Japanese (Battle Chronicle) when I was a kid and my friends and I would mispronounce whatever they said in our native language (Brazilian Portuguese) and have a ton of fun playing it! We didn't understand any game events or whatever, all we needed was knowing how to play multiplayer and roll with the punches (heh). My go-to were Chaos Gallantmon and BlackWarGreymon!
I’m currently working on my own video about both rumble arenas, so was lush to hear your perspective on the second to see how it differs from my own! Glad you enjoyed 2, grew up with it so me and the boys bloody love it. Keep up the good work chief
Loved this game. My friend hated me so much for always yelling digivolutions 😅. Also I remember there was a bug with Lilymon poison attack that would pop u instantly.
They missed an opportunity to make this one more of a unique fighting game instead of this bouncy brawler mechanic. This one was a more blatant Smash clone than the first with the ugliest textures and rubbery animations (perhaps thats subjective but they're disgusting and cartoony which would be something stupid to complain about if this were any other cartoon franchise but it does not fit with digimon), boring derivative stages and terrible stage music, incomplete evolution lines and cut characters. The overall aesthetic is just an eyesore. Even as a kid I was averse to it and just went back to the first one because if I wanted Smash gameplay and far away camera angles I'd just play Melee where the textures on the characters didn't look like liquid mercury and the camera was dynamic. (Kudos for the Klonoa music in the background)
What upsets me about rumble arena as a franchise is, both 1 and 2 for me have strengths and weaknesses the other has covered. 1st game felt nostalgic and has classical music with original VA's doing their lines and even card swiping from tamers to make it come together and even secrets like classic tamers for certain characters (or the digimon emporer for ken) which just made it more special. 2 had better gameplay and arena mechanics, the evolution was better and gave you a unique progression to the final stage of evolution; with each form having their own quirks. But imo 1 had the heart, 2 had the gameplay and we never got a 3. Well not one that felt like a true 3rd game. Ever since the ps2 I wished for a rumble arena 3 that took the gameplay of 2, the nostalgia and heart of 1 and merged them together; improving them with more series, more easter egg forms (like black agumon not being a new character but a reskin you can unlock when selecting as a code), more evolution lines (like each digimon has 2 lines they can go down and you select them at the character select (for example veemon > flamedramon > raidramon > Magnamon or Veemon > Exveemon > Paildramon > Imperialdramon FM) to add variety). If only...
Personally I prefer the first RUmble Arena out of the two for mainly two reasons. 1. It's simply a "just beat the crap out of the other one" sort of brawler. Rumble Arena 2 is far less clunky, there's more playable characters (some of 'em more "rare" picks, like Palmon) and they also feel realyl varied to eachother. AND there are more evolutions as well per character. And there's more than 1v1 multiplayer, there's more game modes. And, and, etc. etc. Point being there's a lot of fun to have. ...But the orb gathering just... ugh.. To be blunt; just not a fan of it. I guess they needed some sort of "charging systerm" in order to get more evolutions to work AND in a gameplay sense I get that it's there as a reason for you to leave the opponent alone for a straight minute (so you can go gather orbs) and this in turn let's your friends/family member your playing with get the moment of recovering and let 'em breath, instead of just ganging up and bullying them constantly without letting 'em to play. I just wish there was a "better" system though. 2. ...I just don't like the graphics as much as in RA1. RA2 is far more "greyish" and less colorfull, while RA1 has far more vibrant and pastel colors on pretty much everything. And I simply love that far more.
Had both when I was younger, and yeah, I had more fun with the second game. Granted, the first one had great music, and some stages in it are better than the second one. Playing with 4 players is always a chaotic thing, especially in Danger Glutch. Shame we never got a true sequel.
I used to play Rumble Arena 2 quite a bit but never liked it as much as the original. Having to collect those eggs to evolve really ruined the pacing and fun of the battles for me. Like, my friends and I would be really involved in fighting, and then one or both of us would just stop to go around the stage collecting eggs. Losing a life and dropping an evolution stage was also supremely frustrating, especially after running all over the stage and trying to collect those darn eggs. Instead of jumping into the fighting, those of us who were near losing a life would just try to camp somewhere safe or run away. Urgh. The gameplay did not encourage fast and furious fighting like the original did.
That's an interesting way of looking at it. The short combos and mobility just seem to make me instinctively go around the map so I've never got into such a situation. I can see how it can be frustrating, tho. The footage on the video made me realize the first one was way slower, so by footage only the second one looks better paced. Not to mention 4 vs instead of one on one is a welcome change.
Yeah, the sequel never truly felt like a sequel to me, it just felt like a generic Digimon fighting game that wanted to be Smash Bros, instead of just picking up from what the first game did, and improving all the game mechanics and stuff from it, in order to make the peak game version of it, kind of like how Super Smash Bros N64 feels clunky and stuff, but then you play Melee and its everything that the N64 game had but bigger and better than ever, and thats why I never trusted the Digimon games, because they would trick fans into buying sequels that weren't really sequels to the games they had made in the past, such as how NONE of the Digimon World sequels were truly a sequel to Digimon World 1, and the only ones that were had been Re: Digitized and Next Order, but I do have to admit that Digimon World DS even though it had nothing to do with Digimon World, it was a pretty fun game that would have worked fine if they had just used a different title than World for it, maybe they should have called it Digimon RPG or Digimon Journey or something.
thats an interesting take. For me and my friends/family, it kinda was the other way around. The fact that you had to not only fight and defend yourself, but also keep in mind your resources to be able to digivolve faster than your oponents and have the edge of the battle was extremely fun and engaging. Not only that, the fact that the bigger player could still go down 1 evolution meant it was never "over", you could always try to overcome, even being last, and win by being more strategic or patient. With all the gamemodes it had too, it was always so much fun. Interesting how experiences could differ with this game. Sidenote, If Im not wrong I think I recognize your channel name. I used to watch your figure videos years ago. Its cool to see you're still active, hope you're doing great! :,)
I always went to evolve to maximum, even with playing as the boss characters. I just wanted to be big and strong. Everyone I played with always wanted to just fight, thank goodness.
If you want to try something slightly different, there's a fanmade Rumble Arena, it's pretty good, it mainly based on 1 but with some elements of 2, it has A LOT of digimons and is constantly updated
You can activate a cheat in the game to fill the meter instantly. This way unlocking everything takes so much less time. Gr8 video. :) I've also had fun with this game playing with my friend.
Maaaaaan goodtimes! Shame we didnt get Ultimates but the game is still really solid, especially with friends! I remember my friend used to bully me in the first Rumble Arena.. Then we played Rumble Arena 2 and I beat his ass using Black Agumon and couldnt fight back!
This was THE BEST party game that my friends and I would play back in the day. Didn't matter who was hanging out. They'd get roped into some DRA2 madness, and always ended up laughing their ass off along with the rest of us. It's not the most well balanced, and my disc has worn down a lot and led to some extra little bugs and glitches, but the chaos of this game with 4 players is absolutely unmatched. I'll forever have sound bites like "Pinata!" and "Pandemonium!" stuck in my brain.
@@Freezient nah its not nostalgia. it just better. control and fighting mechanic are more satisfying. I really try to like Rumble Arena 2 but its just not that good. It feels like a mini game. Already beat it though.
I think the reason I really disliked Rumble 2 is because they cut Renamon, Impmon and Terriermon. My 3 favorite ones from the previous game alongside veemon.
Honestly the original rumble area was way better then this game and all star rumble, this game was too clunky and diaboromon’s spinning attack was way to overpowered and spamable, also it’s a shame they removed the human characters from all the other games, and all star rumble didn’t even have any villain digimon playable which at least this game had 3 of them, shame no lucemon playable and that they gave us neemon instead of renamon or terriermon
I definitely admit my preference for the first game is totally due to nostalgia. I haven't played Rumble Arena 2 as much as I did the first, so I can safely say that even being weaker and flawed, it has that unique charm only nostalgia can carry through
Did the folks who made Ty the Tasmanian Tiger (especially 2) help make this? Those blue orbs look so much like the red orbs, and the home screen looks so similar to the Ty series!
No idea why people would think Rumble Arena 1 is better, even including nostalgia. Game was fun, but clunky and unfair sometimes. Now this is one is the peak in digimon fighting games, unfortunately. The Spirits games have charm, but it's only downhill from here. Can't wait to see your take on Digimon World 3.
I got my nephews a hacked PS2 with this being one of the games I got to choose from on the HD. I think this was one of their most played games and I made sure that most games could be played by 2.
Great video about an awesome game! I think that Digimon Rumble Arena 2 is a fairer alternative Smash Bros for casual players. It is easy to get into for new players, and experienced players do not have a big advantage, because the combat mechanics are not too deep; whereas advanced players of Smash Bros clearly dominate new players
I always thought this one was better than the first. It’s still wonky and not amazing, but the mechanics are an improvement and the digivolution mechanic is way better and more on theme. That said, I think it’s hindered by too much focus of Adventure based mon at the expense of other seasons. Personally, though, my favorite Digimon fighter is Battle Spirits 2. I loved the first game’s twist on the mascot fighter style (collecting orbs dropped by the enemy instead of reducing life bar or knocking enemies off stage) but, like Rumble Arena 1, it has a similar evolution mechanic which feels off having rookies facing off against megas. The sequel is just based on Frontier, which works perfectly for a fighting game and the way they handled shift evolution is really neat. I wish it had more fighters, though. It’s just the six digidestined, when they could have included the four evil spirits and the pre-redeemed dark spirit included as well.
I never played the first one (as I never had a PS1), but I did rent Rumble Arena 2 from Blockbuster (man I feel old) and it was such a silly, goofy time. I wish I was able to play it with my friends, however.
The first one had a charming aesthetic that the second just doesn’t replicate. …also not having Beelzemon is a cardinal sin and cannot be forgiven. … it yeah, it’s definitely nostalgia.
@Deoxys_Used_Mimic Not entirely! I have no nostalgic ties to the first Rumble Arena and even I can recognize a unique charm to the game that's definitely lost as the years moved on. It's not my go to game, but it more than has a place, I wish I had conveyed that a little better in the video
I got this on the Wii surprisingly decent, and better than Castlevania Judgment which also released on the Wii, but it's a shame we never got Soul Calibur III.
@@GrayMongerArk cybersleuth isn't really a world game. Or I guess it's complicated. For DW1 like games, there are Digimon World Re:Digitize Decode and Next Order
I loved the first video and was so excited for this one, digimon rumble arena is one of those games that are just a few steps behind for greatness, I always thought they could do better with just some slight changes, digimon rumble arena all stars was a dissapointment if they ever want to try again the fighting genre they could look at DR2 and see what went wrong there
All-Star Rumble exists. It was certainly a game. It was made by Yuji Naka's studio. All of us bought it, not because we wanted to play it, but only because we wanted more localised Digimon games. Yet for some reason, it has been speedrun by a small handful of shameless masochists.
Huh. I can't remember the piñata effect one from the Gamecube version. Could that be an exclusive reference to Viva Piñata? Or I might just be misremembering. It has been many years, after all.
Excelent review, I will like to add that in rumble arena 2 the Special are not so spectacular as RA 1. Like the terra force of wargreymon was massive in RA 1 and now is just a fire fart.
I remember playing both with my friends back in the old days, and while I agree Rumble arena 2 is better in a lot of ways, I still somehow prefer the first one more, we even go back and play the first one after playing the second a couple times, and I dunno why is that lol

That Digimon wall art is awesome!
@SassyCassie89 The artist behind it is Stick 'Em Up Stickers! I reccomend checking them out!
@Wayneisboss thanks Wayne!
hours upon hours were spend in my buddys living room playing the hell outta this it was such a joy x)
If you want to try something slightly different, there's a fanmade Rumble Arena, it's pretty good, it mainly based on 1 but with some elements of 2, it has A LOT of digimons and is constantly updated
I felt instant relief the moment you fixed the aspect ratio.
You can activate a cheat in the game to fill the meter instantly. This way unlocking everything takes so much less time.
Gr8 video. :) I've also had fun with this game playing with my friend.

I loved this game so much. BlackGabumon randomly became my main.
One of my favorite platform fighters
Good video
Maaaaaan goodtimes! Shame we didnt get Ultimates but the game is still really solid, especially with friends!
I remember my friend used to bully me in the first Rumble Arena..
Then we played Rumble Arena 2 and I beat his ass using Black Agumon and couldnt fight back!
I LOVE THIS ONEEEE I STILL HAVE IT ON MY PS2 AND PLAY IT!!
looks like the type of game that if i played as a kid, it would become one of my favorite games
also that sunset city poster is cute 👍
This was THE BEST party game that my friends and I would play back in the day. Didn't matter who was hanging out. They'd get roped into some DRA2 madness, and always ended up laughing their ass off along with the rest of us. It's not the most well balanced, and my disc has worn down a lot and led to some extra little bugs and glitches, but the chaos of this game with 4 players is absolutely unmatched. I'll forever have sound bites like "Pinata!" and "Pandemonium!" stuck in my brain.
I loved this game I had it on Gamecube!! I played the hell out of it.
As a Melee fan I indeed like the sound of that broken throwing mechanic
Man, I wish this was playable easily online, it was stupid fun
Who tf said Rumble Arena 2 was a downgrade?
The majority of Digimon fandom who are too blinded by their nostalgia
@@Freezient I like it too although I prefer the 3DS Shinobi reboot many of the same developers went on to make.
The people who prefer it and *not* “blinded by nostalgia” like… some people claim.
19:08 Most important part of the video! (Though the whole review was great too)
And sometimes ai are stupid like duskmon jumped himself and killed by himself
WHERE CAN I GET THAT POSTER BEHIND YOU?!
Sorry for screaming, but thats what I did when I saw that :D
I definitely admit my preference for the first game is totally due to nostalgia. I haven't played Rumble Arena 2 as much as I did the first, so I can safely say that even being weaker and flawed, it has that unique charm only nostalgia can carry through
This game was actually a lot of fun with my family
Wow, I had no idea the first Rumble game had a stage based on Blast Chamber (also on PS1)!
I'm with you. I will never touch rumble 1 after playing rumble 2. It's imo the peak of the three brawler games
Oh boy, you'll definitely need to be properly prepared once you do All-Star Rumble next...
Hope you're having a good day
I liked both Rumble Arena 1 and 2 a lot. I feel if they had made some changes to RA2 it would be a lot more interesting for a competitive format!
Remake when?
8:58 I would like to play as WarGrowlmon!
TLDR: smash bros Digimon edition.
I got my nephews a hacked PS2 with this being one of the games I got to choose from on the HD. I think this was one of their most played games and I made sure that most games could be played by 2.
2 is actually one of the greatest party fighting games ever.
Great video about an awesome game! I think that Digimon Rumble Arena 2 is a fairer alternative Smash Bros for casual players.
It is easy to get into for new players, and experienced players do not have a big advantage, because the combat mechanics are not too deep; whereas advanced players of Smash Bros clearly dominate new players
this game is so good i really would love it if they made a new one
Anybody know what song is playing in the background of the Unlockable Content segment. Sounds absolutely fire!
Best thing to hapoen in Odiba day
Can't wait for DM3
I never played the first one (as I never had a PS1), but I did rent Rumble Arena 2 from Blockbuster (man I feel old) and it was such a silly, goofy time. I wish I was able to play it with my friends, however.
my favorite game of all time!
i was 15 late but I WAS HERE FOR THIS I LOVE DIGIMON
The first one had a charming aesthetic that the second just doesn’t replicate.
…also not having Beelzemon is a cardinal sin and cannot be forgiven.
… it yeah, it’s definitely nostalgia.
@Deoxys_Used_Mimic Not entirely! I have no nostalgic ties to the first Rumble Arena and even I can recognize a unique charm to the game that's definitely lost as the years moved on. It's not my go to game, but it more than has a place, I wish I had conveyed that a little better in the video
@@Wayneisboss
Sorry, I meant it’s definitely nostalgia for why *I* feel RA1 is better.
LOVE YOUR DIGIMON REVIEWSS
I got this on the Wii surprisingly decent, and better than Castlevania Judgment which also released on the Wii, but it's a shame we never got Soul Calibur III.
i played this once at my friends house and never again. I thought it was lost in the annals of time T^T Thanks for this brother. Amazing video🤩
HE IS BACK 💙💙💙
Wait, people thought DRA2 was worse than DRA? What are people smoking?
This is the only game in the franchise I didnt have (i guess as I grew older) but damn I missed out of a great multiplayer game with my friends!
personal fav game
Viva Piñata reference⁉️
We need digimon rumble aren 3 And digimon world 5 I wanted to be a better version of world 4 Open world sort of game
We do have 3 for Xbox or something but it is total garbage major wasted opportunity
@@raphaelcruzx I would say no cause by that logic.
Cybersleuth would be considered world five I do not consider all star rumble Rumble arena three
@@raphaelcruzx But if they come out with digimon rumble arena 4 Then you'd be right
There is a fanmade Rumble Arena, pretty good and with over 100 digis in total, constantly being updated too
@@GrayMongerArk cybersleuth isn't really a world game. Or I guess it's complicated. For DW1 like games, there are Digimon World Re:Digitize Decode and Next Order
I remember this game on ps2
I loved the first video and was so excited for this one, digimon rumble arena is one of those games that are just a few steps behind for greatness, I always thought they could do better with just some slight changes, digimon rumble arena all stars was a dissapointment if they ever want to try again the fighting genre they could look at DR2 and see what went wrong there
All-Star Rumble exists. It was certainly a game. It was made by Yuji Naka's studio. All of us bought it, not because we wanted to play it, but only because we wanted more localised Digimon games. Yet for some reason, it has been speedrun by a small handful of shameless masochists.
can you make a video about either digimon world ds or dusk/dawn?
Huh. I can't remember the piñata effect one from the Gamecube version. Could that be an exclusive reference to Viva Piñata?
Or I might just be misremembering. It has been many years, after all.
I'm more nostalgic for the game boy game in this series
ppl growup with smash bros, I grew up with multitap 4 player digimon rumble arena with my cousins
Is there a way to play this game on a PC or Android device?? Please share!!
