I relate to this so much! I can not believe how much it has grown since then. I even still have it downloaded on my phone from when I got it years ago after not having the ability to play it on PC anymore. Years later, I now have a laptop of my own that I am able to play this new amazing version on! I'm happy to hear there is another person who went through something similar to me that fell in love with this game, too.

All these new additions are amazing. Rival takeovers. No more losing hexes from wolves just passing thru. Offspring taking over rival packs. Us taking over our parents rival pack lol larger packs to hunt with. I mean this is everything we ever wanted
Yes! I hated having to start over repeatedly with new saves! I love that I can play realistic (which I love doing) by creating saves for my dispersed pups, playing as my mate if I die, taking over rival packs if I they lose their mate etc
@@DinosaurNick I think playing as your mate if you die is the most exciting part, cause I always wished that would have been a thing. Then he/she can find a new mate. It just makes things more dynamic.

I literally started screaming with joy when they said that you can become a pack leader in a rival wolves pack🥹 I can't wait for the saga! I still haven't even finished playing as Clara's offsprings yet lol 😂😂
I was literally asking the other day, "Would you be able to take over other packs if you mate with their leader?" omg, that's so cute. I LOVE THIS! Edit: I was also hoping for a feature to continue as your pack if you die by either playing as your mate or pup! GOD I"M SO HYPED ITS EVERYTHING I ASKED FOR!
I have a couple of suggestions! 1. It would be really cool to see a hierarchy system when eating. Since Wolves do tend to have rules while they eat, some wolves get pushed aside and have to wait while others eat first. It would be nice to see a warning or discipline system that allows you to keep members of the pack in check (like snapping your jaws at them or a displeased lick-lip snarl) while you, your younger pups or mate are prioritised and eat first. 2. Also, I'm surprised PvP isn't an enable/disable feature for multiplayer since some people RP as 'rivals' who then disperse themselves and others form small groups or 'packs' within an existing server opposing another small group and PvP would be a cool feature for that reason if clashes occur and just in general, people take pack ranks seriously in RP sometimes and may want to put you 'in your place' and so being able to latch on or submit someone could be cool.
This is very exciting! So happy to see this wonderful game progressing to a level I never thought could be possible when I was 9 and playing 2.5. A feature I recommend, since you are obviously accepting to courting the leader and inherenting their big family, to be open to the idea of your pups who disperse to have a chance to go in pairs, or more rarely 3s and who may stick around even after getting a mate, or may go their own way. And same goes the other way, if you meet a wolf with a sibling or two, they might stick around. I recall a documentary about a female Yellowstone wolf who paired off with one brother, and the other brother stuck around and really aided in the packs success and the female wolf became fairly popular for her success. Can't recall the name but it was on UA-cam. Have a great trip to Yellowstone Dave and family, hope you get some amazing memories and inspiration, perhaps, even for WolfQuest! May you see many of Yellowstones wonders, flora and fauna! ❤🐺
I also saw that documentary. I think I remember the Devs saying years ago that irl wolf lives are complex, but they're making the game simple. However, with all these updates and such I don't see how it would be that difficult to make it so there's a chance that you have an uncle/aunt in the wolf pack. It happens fairly often irl
That would be a fantastic addition. I'm sure it's crossed their minds, but who knows where on the ideas/plqns list it is right now - if anywhere. Maybe one day... but then again, they have been spoiling us, so maybe that day is sooner than I think.
can't believe i was binging the saga videos and now here's a new upload! both these new features have me SO excited. playing as your mate after you die as an elder wolf really surprised me. these features are incredible, thank you thank you thank you wolfquest team!!!
I LOVE this way of variety in the saga. The way you can join a rival pack pack as an alpha gives me an idea to make revenge on the pack that killed all my pups..
It’s so amazing seeing how far WolfQuest has come! I’ve been around since the original version, and never in a million years would I have thought we’d be getting this kind of development. Thank you for all the hard work and time that you’ve put into this project! 💕
Gosh. This was a nostalgic game and I can’t believe it’s still going. I would totally play this new improved version but goodness I don’t even have a computer or pc. One day..l just one day.. I’ll play my beloved game as a child!
Ugh I’m so excited for all of this! I have been playing Wolf Quest since I was a kid and discovered it at the wolf center in Ely Minnesota on a state park trip with my family! I just got back from a week long backpacking into the slough creek and second meadow area all because of how inspired this game has made me! Keep killing it Wolf Quest gang!
Seriously, I love all work what you doing. I so glad see this new functions. About first function, I so love it. You just making players's dreams real. I'm just hope it's will be in the fall or winter. You are making a great work. I don't regret knowing about this game. It's will be the best day when saga comes. Good luck at work.
Oh HECK YES!! I am soooo excited for the Saga update omg!! I never imagined we'd get the option to court a newly-widowed pack leader and take over leading their pack with them but always in the back of my mind thought "oh that would be kinda cool if it was a thing tho" so to hear that you guys have managed to implement that has me SO PUMPED :D :D
Succession is brilliant! I've been hoping for that feature for awhile. Thank you again for the update and the whole team for the great work on this game!
Omg its finally happening!! I never ever thought it'd be added! (the joining a rival pack. I was under the assumption that it was part of the not-being-added-to-the-game-ever list) That is absolutely insane, I am SO excited for the saga ughhh
This is awesome! Im glad they're mixing things up. While realism is the goal, this is still a video game. Adding unique features that keep players engaged is always a healthy thing for a games lifespan, even if its not 1 to 1 with a real wolf's lifestyle
This is gonna be awesome!! I can’t believe how far WolfQuest has come since I first got the game, and it’s so cool seeing the progress you guys have made!!!
this all seems so cool that we can join into a different pack and become the leader if courted with the original leader, but it also seems quite stressful to take care of a whole pack. cant wait for the saga, its surely going to be a handful
Hey WolfQuest! I don’t know if you’ll see this, but I have an idea for multiplayer (just a small one but I think it’s cool). So, you know how in singleplayer you can secondary-howl to call your mate to come to you across the map? What if there was a version of that in multiplayer? Here’s the idea: Whenever a player secondary-howls a small notification will appear on the others’ screens, saying that the player who howled is calling. When you open the map their icon will temporarily be slightly larger and brighter to help locate whoever called. I just think this would be really nice for no-chat servers, as well as for those who don’t have the time to call for help.
Ooh, they have said no to these features before so I didn't really think that they would add them, although they did mention becoming the leader of a rival pack in one of the recent devblogs! But I love that they did, because players have been requesting these features a lot and I think they will add cool variety to the gameplay! And NPCs are allowed to do these things already so why shouldn't we be. Can't wait for the Saga!
Y’all guys I feel like next develog is the beta for the saga, now hear me out. At the very very end of the video he says their next develog won’t be for a few weeks because they are going on vacation right? So maybe they are suprising us and making us wait a few weeks for it… WARNING THIS MIGHT NOT BE TRUE
I've been waiting for so long as you annouced it's coming later this year i smiled with joy!! changing things up must feel really exciting! thank you so much for doing your best on the saga! i appreciate all u do for us and also trying to make it more fun! the saga is great keep it up! i love that u get to be a life as a wolf! we get to know how hard and fun it is to start a life as a wolf! this saga is my dream! i think all of ours! thank you for giving our dreams once again! hope it will come out when the new year starts!
as someone whos been following this game for over a decade now, i love that y'all are still releasing updates and making the game better. my inner child is so happy and grateful to have been here for so long :)
I'm so excited for Saga, and every devlog just makes me more excited! I hope by the time Saga comes out, I've got my regular PC working again, because I'd love to record gameplay and start a youtube channel that includes it.
I like everyone else dropped everything I was doing the moment this WolfQuest notification came. Then when I heard the new option to join a rival pack? Guess what I did. I paused the video, did a dramatic Arab gasp and freaked out in screams. YES WE CAN HAVE MULTIPLE NPC WOLVES RUNNING EVERYWHERE. I remember the time they said that would be complicated. The other feature is also extremely interesting! Now I have some questions: 1. How will a yearling wolf find a mate when you choose to play as them to continue the legacy? 2. Why do you choose a rendezvous site in fall when you join a rival pack? Don't you go through winter etc. etc. then have the pups at a den? 3. What do you mean by co-leader/co-owner? Aren't we supposed to be the now male/female pack leader if we're the mate of the pack leader which is of course the opposite gender of us? 4. Say we chose to be a yearling/subordinate wolf after our main wolf died as said at 3:10, do wolves actually like randomly become 'heir'? It sounds a little unrealistic, especially when you think about the fact that more than one wolf wants to be the successor. I'm very curious about all this, would be lovely if it would be answered. This game is really branching out and spreading in such an unexplainable way, I haven't seen no other game like this. Truly, purely, honestly beauty. 🤯❤
1, good question! I'm not actually sure. I think they magic snap up to 2, just like if you play as one. 2, you are playing in fall as a dispersal. Note the "Growing Pups" prompt. So you're inheriting them with fall pups, not den pups. 3, you're co-leader alongside your new mate, the existing leader. Technically you are co-leader of your own pack as well. 4, especially among female wolves, that's apparently a major reason why they stick around. In hopes of inheriting. There's obviously ugliness in real life that gets wallpapered over for gameplay reasons. The most realistic option is to play as your newly former mate, but some people like inheritance storylines, and they're plausible enough, so they're coming. I'm not complaining.
I'll respond in several comments because my phone doesn't let me edit 1. You will simply choose a mate like you would with any other wolf. Irl wolves do disperse at 1 year old sometimes, though it's more common for 2 year olds to disperse. In game there are occasionally 1 year old dispersals for you to court
2. I think it could possibly be just to move the home hex? I also wasn't sure about this one, irl I think wolves just wander around their territories with the elk herds, they don't have set rendezvous sites. I think this is just a practical thing to move the home hex from the edge of the map, it wouldn't work to get rid of all pack's home hexes in the fall and winter because then you could take over all the pack wolves' hexes and they'd have no place to go which would make the game a bit weird. This is just what I think because I'm not too sure myself
4. I'm not 100% sure of realism, but in game it is possible for one of the subordinates of other packs to become the leader of their parents/parent dies
I have been role-playing my wolves with the Lamar pack for just about as long as we've had the raise pup quests (three or four years now) and duuude when I say I am excited to actually be able to live that life... yes. Thank you guys so so so much, you have to be my favourite game developers at this point ❤❤

I love the idea of being able to court a surviving pack leader and joining the pack. Everything you've mentioned here is wonderful and I'm so glad you included it.

This is gonna be awesome!! I can’t believe how far WolfQuest has come since I first got the game, and it’s so cool seeing the progress you guys have made!!!
this all seems so cool that we can join into a different pack and become the leader if courted with the original leader, but it also seems quite stressful to take care of a whole pack. cant wait for the saga, its surely going to be a handful
this is actually amazing and gives the player so much diversity
I am loving ALL of these!!!!! They're so exciting!!!!
clicked the second i got the notification. i love y'alls work so much
This has been one of the most exciting things to look forward to this year. I'm absolutely elated with every post. I love y'all.
AHHHHHHHHHH this is honestly amazing! I love the wolf quest team so much this is going to be amazing
I CANT WAIT TO COURT WITH THE PACK LEADERS BRO IM SO EXCITED!!!
OH MY GOD I always wished for that kind of feature!
Definetly what I was hoping to happen! Now when an elder wolf dies you can continue the legacy and go on and on and on!! 🤩
Im so excited for the next saga, I am loving all the new stuff we will be able to do!
I'm so excited for the saga release! Keep up the awesome work!
I'm so excited for Saga, and every devlog just makes me more excited! I hope by the time Saga comes out, I've got my regular PC working again, because I'd love to record gameplay and start a youtube channel that includes it.
If you start a channel I'd love to watch. I love binging WolfQuest UA-camrs
OMG?! We can finally join rival packs?! Lets gooo!
Very excited for the rest of the saga! This is my favorite game to play, and I'm really glad that you guys show us the development.
Now I have some questions:
I'll respond in several comments because my phone doesn't let me edit
3. Co-leader is just one of the leaders, you and your mate are both co-leaders from how I understand it
4. I'm not 100% sure of realism, but in game it is possible for one of the subordinates of other packs to become the leader of their parents/parent dies
This just keeps getting more 🔥🔥🔥 really can't wait! 🐺
Hope you guys have fun in Yellowstone! I worked there last summer and it was amazing…and very hot lol
Super excited for all this new stuff in Saga 🎉
I hope you enjoy your trip to Yellowstone!
When I heard the news I grinned from ear to ear, so excited! 😊
Oh wow! That's so cool that you can join packs now, I've always wanted to do that! So great to see this amazing project continue to grow!
I have been role-playing my wolves with the Lamar pack for just about as long as we've had the raise pup quests (three or four years now) and duuude when I say I am excited to actually be able to live that life... yes. Thank you guys so so so much, you have to be my favourite game developers at this point ❤❤
thank you so much for this, i really would like to see more options our wolf can go on for their journey and life. this will be really fun to play with!
Ahem ahem no post for 2 weeks? Maybe ur bringing the Saga?😻
Omaigad it’s better than I ever imagined 😳😳😳
That’s
So
So cool
I love the idea of being able to court a surviving pack leader and joining the pack. Everything you've mentioned here is wonderful and I'm so glad you included it.
Excited for the next blog! I’m interested to see what you’ve saw in Yellowstone.
I’ve been slowly working my way through achievement, and I was getting worried that I’d just have to keep making more and more separate game files after I was finished, but this absolutely fixes that! We truly are living the dream!
Huh this will be interesting.. thanks for the update!
Im getting more and more hyped for the Saga! I can feel my hours in game doubling the moment it releases XD
